Kate Garraway returns to GMB following husband Derek Draper's funeral

00:02 It was one of the most extraordinary send-offs,

00:04 a real celebration.

00:06 And you and Darcy and Bill and all the family

00:09 and Derek's family and your family,

00:10 you really did Derek proud.

00:11 It was an extraordinary thing.

00:12 Yeah, I definitely wanted to make it about Derek,

00:16 not about me.

00:17 That changes this morning, by the way.

00:20 But no, definitely about Derek, all jokes aside.

00:23 And his friends were fantastic.

00:25 His family were amazing.

00:26 Darcy and Billy, oh my goodness me.

00:29 And they continue to be so and have always been so.

00:31 But it was really lovely as well to feel so much love

00:34 from everybody here.

00:35 Look at Laura looking at me, looking so gorgeous

00:38 in cleather this morning.

00:39 We like that a lot.

00:41 Everybody has just been so nice.

00:42 And everybody, all of you, honestly, it's just amazing.

00:46 And I just keep thinking, let's keep that lovely feeling going

00:50 because I know I'm very lucky to have it.

00:53 Because a lot of people don't have the jobs

00:55 that you and I have.

00:57 And so therefore, they do have a lot of love around them

00:59 from the people they know.

01:00 But it's harder for people to feel it, isn't it?

01:03 Because it doesn't get seen in the same way.

01:06 And even the extended experience that I've

01:09 had of being your friend and having to put up

01:12 with you for this many years, finally, it's been worth it.

01:14 Because people are reaching out to me.

01:16 It's just an extraordinary thing.

01:17 I got some messages yesterday from people saying, look,

01:19 Ben, we know how difficult it's been for Kate.

01:21 As one of her friends, we just want to reach out to you

01:23 and say, I hope you're OK as well.

01:25 And I think you're absolutely right.

01:26 That sense of sort of collective connection

01:30 is something that we could do more of.

01:32 And it's been really amazing to experience that.
