A woman is pregnant with her own son’s baby at 56 after her daughter-in-law was left unable to carry a child - and says she can’t wait to give birth to her granddaughter.
Nancy Hauck, 56, offered to be a surrogate for her son, Jeff Hauck, 32, and his wife, Cambria, 30, after her daughter-in-law had a hysterectomy following the traumatic birth of their twins.
The pair had already been struggling to conceive for six years before they had twins, Vera and Ayva, now three, and another set, Diesel and Luka, 11 months, via IVF.
But after still wanting to expand their family, Nancy had 'a feeling' she was the one who should carry their baby and told Jeff, a computer scientist, she would be willing to do it for them.

00:00 I never imagined I would be pregnant at 56. I'm serving as a gestational carrier for my son
00:07 and his wife, my daughter-in-law Cambria.
00:10 Hi, I'm Nancy Houck. Jeff, our son, and Cambria had struggled with infertility and had
00:26 three additional embryos that they had hoped to give the chance for life. I just had a strong
00:34 impression that I was supposed to consider being a carrier for them. And so I told them,
00:42 "I love you so much. I would if I could do this." They told their doctor about my offer.
00:51 They did the exam and found that I was really a viable candidate, which was a surprise.
00:59 We just let them pick the embryo. I didn't need as much
01:10 intervention, I guess, which was good for me. But then I did everything like a young mother would
01:16 have. The embryo transfer was on February 17th, and it was just a beautiful, peaceful experience.
01:26 About six days after the transfer, I had an experience with the baby that made me think I was
01:36 pregnant. As a scientist, I wanted it to be confirmed, of course, and I even took a home
01:42 pregnancy test a couple days before the blood test just to see, and all of them came out positive.
01:49 When we got the pregnancy test, you know, they were elated. The remarkable thing with fertility
02:05 is they do an ultrasound at two weeks. It was amazing to see this taking place in my body at 56.
02:14 I felt like this was going to be a girl, and it is in fact a girl. I like strong women. It's kind
02:23 of fun to be knowing I'm carrying a strong baby girl. Could have been a horrible health crisis,
02:30 but it just hasn't been. I've been really healthy, at least as healthy as my others.
02:36 This has been the total test of courage and leap of faith, so I'm going to have to continue that
02:52 till she's here. I never imagined doing it. All the circles of people I know, I don't know anyone
02:59 else, especially at my age. There's no expectation anyone should do this. Some of our most beautiful
03:05 things in life happen unexpectedly.
