02:08 Can you hear me?
02:13 [WHISTLE BLOWS]
02:20 Welcome ladies and gentlemen to Cornwall Cup Field Day.
02:24 What we're going to do is have a demonstration
02:28 and the old guys will sign a few bags.
02:30 So a lot of you guys here would know how to do it
02:33 probably better than them, but they're going to have to give it a go.
02:36 Now, a bit of history about the bagging off.
02:40 As you see there, we're coming up with a handle for bagging the bags off.
02:45 And every bag has to be signed.
02:49 And, um...
02:51 You can't hang any stickers to the bag.
02:55 That's a rule.
02:56 And, uh, I think I should have about 16.
02:59 You can't hang about 16 stickers to the bag.
03:02 Am I right, sir?
03:04 Probably.
03:05 Right.
03:06 So the group, um, the Cup Guys, and Big Boy,
03:13 and, uh, the men that come to serve women,
03:16 and here's that yellow green shirt truck.
03:19 He used to go around the home, come on the train,
03:21 and they don't have much of a distance between them.
03:23 They're on the front of the pit, so...
03:25 They're sitting on that side of the pit,
03:28 and that's about four inches down the rim.
03:31 You can fill this up quick,
03:37 and down into the bag,
03:39 and get the plane into the bag.
03:42 We looked at about 60 pounds per, uh, bushel,
03:46 and there was three bushels for a bag.
03:48 It was a 180-pound bag nowadays.
03:51 It's a 25-pound tea bag,
03:53 and they're thinking about the weight of that.
03:55 All you old guys, when you lift a woman on your shoulder,
03:58 and at night, when you have to leave the truck with a wagon out,
04:02 and a wagon out from the combine,
04:04 and take Ed and his tripper over the Harris,
04:08 and, uh, it'd be an awful mess.
04:11 An old man needs to give you a kick in the backside
04:13 if you want to drop your bag, so...
04:15 Anyway, um...
04:17 The boys are going to do a bit of a demonstration there of someone.
04:21 John. John's over 90.
04:23 And, uh, one of the boys from the ladies got a bit of a go.
04:27 So, um, we'll leave it here.
04:29 Now, a bit of history here. How did we became...
04:32 The tractor there, I believe, was it 1952?
04:36 Um, is that right?
04:38 What was it? '40?
04:41 In the '40s, in the tractor, the header was, like, '54.
04:47 And, uh, those boys are now getting their fingers,
04:52 just so they can have a look at it.
04:54 They're about four foot off it,
04:57 so they can crank it more.
05:00 It's in very, very good condition for its age.
05:03 I still look at that while I was fixing the bag swiller.
05:08 Now, what I'm going to do is,
05:10 I'm going to put some weight in the top of that
05:12 and push it down in to get the weight into the bag.
05:16 Huxley McCabe was down in Footscray, Melbourne.
05:21 That's where that big factory was.
05:23 I brought the dead carobs home and they sold out,
05:26 and I bought a few trees.
05:28 But, um, there's a gentleman, Huxley McCabe,
05:31 who made hay trucks.
05:33 So they didn't only make tractors,
05:35 they made plows, they made headers,
05:37 they made hay ropes, a lot of things.
05:40 So, Huxley McCabe, born in Sunshine, in Melbourne,
05:45 was built by, in fact, all the houses were actually built
05:48 by Huxley McCabe himself.
05:50 And he looked after his workers,
05:52 and they built them houses to keep them up to the fact.
05:56 So, uh, it was a very, very good company.
05:59 Now, we're pushing the work down in to the bag
06:02 and, um, trying to get the weight in.
06:06 Anybody else got any history of selling bags?
06:14 You can have a go if you want.
06:17 There's plenty of these and plenty of hemp cork.
06:20 Come up and have a look later.
06:28 I wonder if you, do you still go on your socks?
06:32 No, sir, see, me and my mum used to sit there
06:35 in front of the fire years ago,
06:37 and that's what she'd do,
06:38 she'd have a little half moon pin on a stick,
06:40 and she'd have her socks in there down in the hole.
06:42 I guess it just made her feel better going to the sock.
06:46 You need plenty of restrictions.
06:52 Haven't you been kicked?
06:55 Sixteen, sixteen in the bag.
06:58 Pretty good, eh?
07:00 Well done.
07:02 Now, another guy's going to have a go,
07:07 he's going to do it for a little bit different,
07:09 so, um, feel free to come up and have a look
07:11 at the sticks that are in the bag,
07:13 and, uh, thank you for your patience,
07:15 and, uh, we'll get on with the job.
07:17 Thank you.
