00:02 Dan Quinn is moving, so am I by the way.
00:04 Now who's moving with him?
00:06 Mike Fisher reporting from Frisco, home of the Dallas Cowboys,
00:08 where Dan Quinn, it's gonna be official.
00:11 He'll sign it and he'll be gone.
00:13 What a terrific three years this has been for
00:15 Dan Quinn as a defensive coordinator in Dallas.
00:17 And yes, that includes the failure in his final game here,
00:21 where he was part of a team that gave up 48 points in a playoff upset loss to
00:26 the underdog Packers.
00:27 His body of work, however, is outstanding.
00:30 And the Washington commanders are getting a good coach and a good man,
00:35 an outstanding leader and strategist.
00:38 His players love to play for him.
00:40 That's a universal theme when it comes to Dan Quinn.
00:44 And he is accomplished as a defensive coordinator,
00:47 was a Super Bowl guy in Seattle, as a head coach, was a Super Bowl guy in Atlanta.
00:51 And we've talked a lot about, despite his loyalty to the Cowboys and
00:57 his loyalty to the Jones family and his connection with these players.
01:00 At some point, he's 53 years old, wanted to run his own ship.
01:02 Over the course of three years off seasons, he's turned down job opportunities.
01:07 He's turned down interviews.
01:08 He did the same in some cases this off season, and
01:11 then pulls the trigger with Washington.
01:14 He was not the commander's first choice, we don't believe.
01:16 But that doesn't mean he can't be the best choice.
01:20 Now comes the next shoe to drop.
01:23 Who does he take with him?
01:23 Who has been a prearranged for him to take with him?
01:26 Who do the Cowboys say, no, no, we'd like to keep our hands on him?
01:29 A hot name that you're gonna hear is Joe Quinn Jr.
01:33 In my conversations with Joe, who's the top defensive assistant around here,
01:37 he will tell you he grew up, him and his father grew up some day, some way.
01:41 Could I ever work for the Dallas Cowboys?
01:42 Could I ever work for the Star?
01:44 And he has done that and done it well.
01:48 In theory, he could continue to do that and be the defensive coordinator here.
01:51 He's a Dan Quinn guy.
01:54 In fact, he almost idolizes Dan Quinn.
01:58 He once told me that Dan Quinn is the shining light at the star.
02:01 An incredible compliment,
02:03 considering the fact there's a lot of lights at the star.
02:05 He is also, however, a McCarthy guy.
02:09 Came up with McCarthy, worked with Quinn too.
02:11 Can the commanders offer him something better, more special than Dallas can if
02:16 they say stay here and be the defensive coordinator?
02:19 Adam Dirty, the defensive line coach from England, is a candidate, of course.
02:24 Al Harris would be a candidate, both to stay here and be defensive coordinator.
02:28 Obviously, well, maybe that's the kind of guy that Dan Quinn is ending up taking
02:33 with him to Washington.
02:35 In terms of offensive coordinator in Washington,
02:38 there's about six quarterback coaches type guys sitting around here at the star,
02:42 right down the street.
02:43 So if he wants to kind of do a cowboy continuity thing in Washington,
02:47 he could do that with a staffer here.
02:49 And then I guess we should note too, Mike Frable is unemployed.
02:54 Ben and Staley is unemployed.
02:55 Ron Rivera is unemployed.
02:58 These are three guys who have been head coaches in the NFL, all defensive guys.
03:03 And of course, the Cowboys have the option of contacting them and
03:07 seeing if they wanna be involved here.
03:09 So I'm told that the front runner in Dallas would be Joe Witt Jr.
03:14 But that doesn't mean that Dan Quinn and
03:16 Washington won't have something to say about that.
03:19 In Frisco with the Cowboys, Fish, out.
