00:13 This is the news brought to you by BAM Alegre.
00:15 [Shouting]
00:18 The landslide.
00:20 Continuous rain.
00:27 [Rain]
00:29 Flooding.
00:31 This is what is still happening in different parts of the Davao region.
00:35 In Pantukan Davao de Oro, residents fled.
00:38 Even though the water is high, they still helped to move to higher areas.
00:43 In some streets in Davao City, cars are passing by because of the water level.
00:50 In Davao Oriental, some trees were damaged.
00:54 This tree was caught by the city of Manay.
00:57 The tree also took part of the land in Governor Generoso's town.
01:00 Because of that, 10 barangays in the town were isolated and residents were stranded.
01:05 In other barangays in the town, some residents were forced to quickly water the hills of Lubin.
01:11 In Caraga Davao Oriental, motorists were forced to climb the trees on the road because of the landslide.
01:18 In the town, two people were lost after being chased by a car.
01:23 In Lupon, some trees were also fallen.
01:26 A car was also hit while traveling.
01:29 Its passengers were saved.
01:31 Clearing operations are still underway in the area.
01:34 According to the local media, a trough of low-pressure area outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility is causing rain in the region.
01:41 Bam Alegre is reporting for GMA Integrated News.
01:46 In the midst of the rains and landslides in Davao Region, the search for two residents in Davao Oriental continues.
01:53 The land was covered by the landslide in the middle of a bad weather.
01:57 Let's find out the latest update.
01:59 The spokesperson of the Office of Civil Defense, Director Edgar Posadas, is in the news.
02:04 Good morning to you.
02:08 Good morning to Rocky and to Ma'am Connie.
02:12 Good morning to all the viewers of your program.
02:15 Yes Director, good morning.
02:17 What is your latest assessment on the effects of bad weather in Davao Region?
02:22 Yes. I'm here in General Santos.
02:27 Our flight earlier was a bit shaky from the Visayas to here.
02:32 But the sun is shining here in General Santos, Tocsar Del.
02:36 I think with the improvement of the weather, although there are cancellations of classes and Ma'am Connie was here in General Santos earlier,
02:47 the weather looks better now. It's sunny here in General Santos.
02:54 Do we have an update Director Posadas on the two residents in Davao Oriental who were caught in the middle of a bad weather?
03:05 Ma'am Connie, you asked us to come here before we arrived. We got in touch with the concerned region.
03:13 It looks like they're not monitoring it yet but they are on it.
03:18 You will ask us to come here because in our report here in Endring Sea, our data, there are no reported casualties.
03:29 But we will look into that and maybe in our next conversation, we will be able to collect the details if there are any.
03:38 We understand and there's no problem.
03:40 But this system of bringing help, especially in areas where the roads are damaged, how?
03:48 Ma'am Connie, if you will notice, this is the region, this is the area where our alert level is high, just like our regional offices here in Caraga and Davao region.
04:06 They are blue alert, just like Endring Sea and Camp Aguinaldo.
04:10 If you will notice, late last year until now, this is the same region that is always flooded and flooded with floods.
04:22 Therefore, their respective dream councils and their officials have a high level of preparedness and we continue our coordination with them.
04:36 As of now, we try to provide whatever the local governments need in addressing the needs of their constituents.
04:48 But as of now, we have no major recipients.
04:52 I mean, they are using their local resources.
05:00 But we are assuring our public, our countrymen, that if there is a need, our regional offices in Caraga and Davao region and even here in Soxargen,
05:16 where we are right now because they will be coming, to help and provide assistance.
05:23 Usually, this is in the form of family food packs, food and man food items, hygiene kits, and others.
05:33 That is what we are doing. The Office of Civil Defense is working on that.
05:37 And of course, the primary that is providing assistance is the DSWD.
05:43 And that is what we are doing, the close coordination with the concerned LCUs.
05:47 In the midst of floods and rain in Mindanao, we will now go to the El Nino Task Force. How is the preparation of the OCD here in El Nino?
05:55 Yes, it seems that our chair is very hands-on.
06:02 The GO53 that was enacted on 19 January, this is a new task force. This is reorganizing and revitalizing the task force El Nino.
06:17 That is its official name. This is not new. This is chaired by DSMD itself and co-chaired by the DOST Secretary, Secretary Soligum.
06:28 There are four agencies that are the primary members of this task force.
06:33 This is the Department of Agriculture, Department of DLR, Department of Health and the Ministry of Finance.
06:38 But that doesn't mean that they are the only ones who are involved.
06:42 There is a whole process that all agencies that need to provide assistance should provide the necessary assistance so that the task force can be organized.
06:53 That's what it should do. The National Action Plan, the Strategic Action Plan, we are reviving it to be more responsive.
07:06 One of the highlights is the creation of an online platform whereby we could actually provide information to our countrymen with the click of a finger.
07:22 There will be an app for that. El Nino is being forecasted to be in place until May or June of this year.
07:35 Okay. So it's really a whole of government and whole of country approach for the preparation of El Nino. Thank you very much.
07:42 Thank you very much. Good luck. Have a nice day.
07:46 Thank you. Good day.
