00:00 The first street we went through you could just see where the flooding had come through.
00:06 There were people out on the street walking around assessing the damage.
00:10 It was bin day last night so bins were all out and so there was rubbish scattered all
00:15 throughout the area and a lot of people just trying to clean up the mess from this water
00:22 coming through.
00:23 So we know of at least 5 swift water rescues that happened in this area earlier on today.
00:30 The street I'm on here in Bray Park, the water actually got up to about this height.
00:36 So this is one of the worst hit areas we've seen so far.
00:38 So I don't know if you can see behind me, there's a car over here.
00:42 That car actually started over this side of the road so it was dragged across there from
00:46 this flood water.
00:48 That's the story with a lot of the cars on this street.
00:50 They've all been damaged by this flooding.
00:54 I know of an elderly couple that lives next door here who downstairs, the whole area has
01:00 been flooded where they live.
01:01 They live downstairs.
01:02 So they've lost a lot of prized possessions for them.
01:07 And look, the clean up effort actually here this morning though was quite remarkable.
01:11 We saw neighbours out here earlier on just picking up as much of the debris as they possibly
01:16 could, putting it into bins.
01:19 There was about 30 people out here involved in that.
01:22 So there was, yeah, I guess a good community spirit here this morning as well in the face
01:28 of dealing with this devastation of a flood coming through here.
01:33 The whole street just suddenly flooded.
01:35 We had cars floating down the road, garbage bins going everywhere.
01:40 The water just came up so quickly that most people around here didn't get time.
01:44 They woke up to being in water.
01:48 And I know there were some pretty heavy falls west of Brisbane as well, Michael.
01:53 Yes, that's right.
01:55 So Lately and Forest Hill, we saw emergency alerts go out for those areas.
02:00 Lately does flood quite badly.
02:02 I've been there when it's been flooding through the main street of the town and just huge
02:07 amounts of water flowing through there.
02:09 Not sure of what's actually happening there right now this morning, but I do know that
02:13 an evacuation centre was being established at one of the local high schools for anyone
02:19 that was affected by the rain that's happening out there.
02:22 So rain here in the north of Brisbane, rain out west, and we do know the predictions are
02:29 that we're going to see more rain throughout the day as well.
