Nurses gathered for their 60 year reunion lunch in the Roundhay Hall area of the hospital, meeting in the same room they once dined in 60 years ago.
Ages 18-21, the nurses began their careers at Roundhay Hall when it was the Leeds General Infirmary preliminary nursing school, where they would live in and train, before going on to pursuing their careers at the Leeds Teaching Hospital Trust.

00:00 Right, my name's Anne and this is Sue and we trained here. We all met on the 29th of
00:09 January 1964, 60 years ago today. We were looking at this staircase which is up to our
00:16 rooms and to the classrooms, thinking about the wonderful times we all had, more or less.
00:22 We were all a bit homesick and a bit unhappy when we got here but we helped each other
00:26 to be simple. We did. So we're meeting today to have a nice lunch and we've managed to
00:31 get 17 of us together, yes, and we're trying to control everyone and make any sense. It's
00:38 a bit difficult but never mind. Of course we're all excited to see each other and we're
00:43 going to go in there now and have a lovely lunch. It's very nice to see everyone again.
00:47 Memories of the staircase, memories of the whole place, all thinking about where we slept,
00:54 where we studied, what we wore etc. The cabin trumps. Absolutely, the cabin trumps we had
01:00 to bring with us. I don't know what we had in there. Everything we had to do. We all
01:04 had to be in at 10 o'clock at night. We did when we were 20. Yes, and then the classrooms
01:11 and the exams and everything but we're all still friends and we all managed to get here
01:15 today so it's lovely.
