00:00 Iwasawa, Nolte, Charlesworth, Brandt, Jadjad Haq, Moseneke, against.
00:07 Israel must, in accordance with its obligations under the Genocide Convention, in relation
00:12 to Palestinians in Gaza, take all measures within its power to prevent the commission
00:18 of all acts within the scope of Article 2 of the Convention.
00:22 The Court indicates the following conservative measures. 1. By one right against two. The State of Israel must, in accordance with its obligations, take all measures.
00:32 I have no way that I'm going to say I'm disappointed. I hoped for it, but the fact of delivering
00:39 humanitarian aid, the fact of taking measures that reduce the levels of harm against persons
00:46 who have no role in what Israel is combating, for me requires a ceasefire. And I believe
00:54 Israel would have to attend to how it conducts its search for the hostages and for those
01:01 Hamas individuals who carried out the October 7th attack.
01:06 I believe that in exercising the order, there would have to be a ceasefire. Without it,
01:16 the order doesn't actually work.
01:18 I've never really been hopeful about Israel, but Israel has very powerful friends who I
01:25 hope will advise Israel that they should act.
01:28 Even though the Court did not explicitly pronounce itself on cease and desist, but
01:46 it did mention that Israel must cease killing the people of Palestine.
01:52 And today we have basically taken the first step to end the violence that is meted out
01:59 against the innocent Palestinian people and the acts of genocide committed by Israel.
02:05 And therefore we are extremely elated and happy about the judgment today.
02:09 Israel's commitment to international law is unwavering. Equally unwavering is our sacred
02:18 commitment to continue to defend our country and defend our people.
02:22 Like every country, Israel has an inherent right to defend itself.
02:27 The vile attempt to deny Israel this fundamental right is blatant discrimination against the
02:32 Jewish state and it was justly rejected.
02:35 The charge of genocide leveled against Israel is not only false, it's outrageous and decent
02:42 people everywhere should reject it.
02:44 We will continue to facilitate humanitarian assistance and to do our utmost to keep civilians
02:49 out of harm's way, even as Hamas uses civilians as human shields.
02:54 We will continue to do what is necessary to defend our country and defend our people.
