00:08 along with the support of the teachers.

00:17 Kenneth Pacientes will give you the details.
00:19 Rise and shine Kenneth!
00:21 In his Basic Education Report this year,
00:26 Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte laid out
00:30 the achievements and plans of the Department of Education
00:33 to improve the education in the country.
00:35 Among them is the construction of additional classrooms
00:39 which is one of the challenges in the DepEd.
00:41 In total, more than 3,000 classrooms were built
00:45 while 6,000 classrooms are currently under construction.
00:49 811 classrooms are already under procurement.
00:54 By the end of the first semester of 2024,
00:58 we hope to complete the construction of at least 4,000 classrooms.
01:04 We have also finished 4,542 classroom repair projects
01:11 and currently there are 3,428 being repaired
01:17 and another 5,896 classrooms are to be repaired soon.
01:23 Vice President Sara also reported the launch of the National Learning Camp
01:27 which is included in the Learning Recovery Program of the DepEd.
01:31 Catch Up Friday is also included to encourage students to read.
01:36 DepEd has also become a focus of the digital infrastructure
01:40 in providing internet connection to schools in the country.
01:44 305 schools have been given fiber internet connectivity
01:49 while satellites have been delivered to 2,000 public schools nationwide.
01:55 As we continue to pursue ICT-assisted learning,
02:00 we are also continuously providing e-classroom packages,
02:04 laptop packages, and digital literacy training
02:08 to improve learning, teaching, and learning outcomes.
02:13 But VP Sara pointed out that one of the main and continuing goals
02:18 of the DepEd is to improve the quality of teachers' work.
02:21 She also shared in her report that DepEd continues to strive
02:25 to provide the benefits of these services
02:27 such as teaching overload pay, overtime pay, service credits,
02:32 and the addition of these leave credits, which will be made by 30 from the previous 15.
02:38 This also includes the removal of their admin tasks
02:41 which have long been neglected by teachers.
02:43 We have always expressed our intention to remove administrative tasks from our teachers.
02:51 [applause]
02:55 After holding several consultations with our field personnel,
03:00 the department ordered on the removal of administrative tasks
03:04 where teachers will be released tomorrow.
03:06 [applause]
03:13 To ensure its effective implementation,
03:16 along with the filling up of 5,000 administrative personnel for 2023
03:22 and another 5,000 administrative personnel for 2024,
03:27 we will also be providing additional MOOE
03:31 to enable our schools to hire the necessary administrative support staff.
03:36 President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. also praised the achievement of DepEd
03:41 led by VP Sara and shared his positive views on the future of education in the country.
03:48 I'm happy to note that this report, the basic education report,
03:53 is candid, clear, comprehensive, and I think you will agree, quite compelling.
03:59 [applause]
04:06 So certainly the milestones achieved so far deserve our congratulations.
04:11 Thank you very much, Vice President Inday Satt.
04:14 [applause]
04:17 The largest constituency and I would say the most difficult planning.
04:22 The President also praised DepEd's achievement in the pilot implementation of the revised K-10 curriculum
04:30 and noted the importance of building school infrastructure.
04:34 But he also gave the importance of the quality of such structures.
04:38 The time is changing, so we need to change our way of construction,
04:45 not only in schools but also in all infrastructure projects.
04:52 And for this, I would like to mention and thank and make a special mention to the World Bank and the ATP
04:59 for their aid in boosting our schools' resilience to disasters.
05:03 The President also praised the students' health,
05:07 so he should strengthen the school-based feeding program,
05:11 as well as the digitization of education in the country.
05:14 To those students, they will notice that there are many classrooms that are not up to the budget.
05:22 My standard response to those who clip our wings with their fears is,
05:26 we use the mandate of the people to achieve the brand, not to waste it on the petty.
05:32 We go big or we go home.
05:35 DepEd also conducted a consultation with stakeholders, regional offices, and parents.
05:41 The return of the old school calendar is just around the corner,
05:44 where the class will open on June.
05:46 DepEd is still waiting for the result of the consultation.
05:50 Kenneth Paciente, for the Morning Show of the City, Rise and Shine, Philippines.
