DTI, pinayagan na ang P1.50 hanggang P6 dagdag-presyo sa ilang brand ng sardinas, gatas at sabon
Transcript
00:00 The Department of Trade and Industry or DTI allowed the price increase of their products to the market
00:06 due to the increase in the price of raw materials they bought.
00:09 This is Clayzel Pardilla in Detalle, Rise and Shine, Clayzel.
00:13 Julia's grocery cart was full and heavy whenever she bought something.
00:21 But now...
00:23 We have less in our basket.
00:26 We are budgeting now because we feel the inflation.
00:32 The Department of Trade and Industry has approved the price increase for coffee and salt for a while.
00:39 According to DTI, the price increase was allowed to the market.
00:44 The price increased from P50.50 to P6.00 for their brand of sardines, milk and soap
00:50 which is full of expensive raw materials.
00:53 This is the second time this January that the new SRP released DTI.
00:58 Aside from that, there are 45 products that are in the price bulletin
01:02 with a high price increase of P30.00 to P30.00
01:09 including some brands of instant noodles, bread, bottled water, condiments and candles.
01:16 The Department of Trade and Industry is studying this well
01:19 following the increased hunger rate or number of people who experienced hunger.
01:25 In the survey of social weather stations,
01:28 from 9.8% in September 2023,
01:32 the hunger rate or number of Filipinos who experienced hunger increased to 12.6% in December.
01:39 We are working with all government agencies to take care of our concerns regarding hunger.
01:46 So, that is how we can temper the price increases
01:51 and ask the manufacturers to not totally pass on to the consumers
01:58 the price adjustment that they asked for.
02:00 In March, the new SRP bulletin is expected to be released
02:05 in front of it, a study on the removal of the suggested retail price
02:09 in times when it is not needed.
02:12 A study that was done in 2015 by DOJ saying that
02:20 on regular times, there is no need for RSRP.
02:26 But on crisis times or times of disasters,
02:31 maybe that's a time when government can step in.
02:34 DTI said that businesses will be encouraged to make more products.
02:39 Some businesses are in favor of this, but a consumer group is against it.
02:44 We are against SRP because it limits the margins.
02:50 Senior citizens discount is also included.
02:53 If 5% is expected for basic necessities and prime commodities,
02:59 we don't have any gift on those items.
03:00 If they let the capitalist businesses,
03:06 especially the manufacturing sector,
03:08 dictate the price of the goods,
03:15 the government is removing the control
03:20 to protect our consumers.
03:25 We still have the law of profiteering.
03:29 If there is no SRP, the prices will still be monitored.
03:35 If there is an undue, the prices will be raised for no reason.
03:40 We have other powers.
03:43 Meanwhile, the target is to limit the e-price
03:46 where you can see online the list of stores
03:50 that have the cheapest products.
03:52 This is also in line with the National Price Coordinating Council's
03:57 not requiring the booklet of senior citizens
04:01 who are asking for a discount.
04:03 Kalei sa Pardiliya!
04:06 For the morning show of the country,
04:08 Rise and Shine, Philippines!
