Disney+ 'Willow' Creators Discusses Making A New Movie

Quite a few legacy-quels have hit the Disney+ platform in the past couple of months. The TV schedule has been especially active in this field, as two fan-favorite franchises have been revived through limited series: The Santa Clauses and now Willow. While creators Jon Kasdan and Michelle Rejwan are proud of their place in the streaming lineup, it seems that they have ambitions of bringing this long-dormant world back to theaters.

00:00 We're big advocates of that and one thing that I think we're both fantasizing about
00:05 as the future of this whole business we're in is that maybe there's the possibility that
00:11 the train can go the other way a little bit and sometimes these series can culminate in
00:16 theatrical experiences that you need to see in a theater.
00:20 I think, you know, Benioff and Weiss wanted that with Game of Thrones.
00:24 I think there's lots of opportunity to do that and we'd love to see that happen.
00:28 I think Disney would too, ultimately.
00:30 There's so many cool new storytelling possibilities out there so it's been, we feel very lucky
00:36 that we got to do this as a series, in fact.
00:39 Yeah.
00:40 Right?
00:41 I mean there's just so many more creative opportunities that afforded us over the eight
00:45 chapters and just incredible imaginative, like endlessly imaginative ideas that come
00:51 out of my friend John here that we got to do in just one season.
00:56 So it's pretty cool to, you know, afford that.
00:58 Yeah, we're, you know, both Michelle and I come from the movies so like, you know, I'm
01:02 counting the days until Avatar comes out.
01:04 I'm a devotee of the cineplex and Willow for me was, you know, it was a very formative
01:10 movie going experience because it was so big and so epic.
01:13 (laughs)
