Transcript
00:00 A rap trio from Belfast are making their acting debut in the first Irish language film to be included at the Sundance Film Festival in the US.
00:08 Kneecap, who've had sold-out gigs in the UK, Ireland and America, are starring alongside Michael Fassbender.
00:15 Our culture correspondent Charlotte Gallagher has been speaking to them.
00:19 Kneecap are at the forefront of Irish hip-hop, rapping in both Irish and English.
00:28 Their self-titled film, a semi-fictionalised account of how they got together, also blends the two languages.
00:35 And it's the first Irish language film to be included at the Sundance Film Festival.
00:40 They called our generation the Ceasefire Babies.
00:45 So it's about these three fellas trying to find their place in the world and it's about their identity and stuff like that.
00:52 So everybody has this idea of the Irish language that we all just sit about pubs playing fiddles and talking about grammar.
00:58 Do you know what I mean? When in actual fact these three characters don't really mention the language that much.
01:02 The whole film they're like selling drugs and talking about, you know, youth culture.
01:08 You've heard of intergenerational trauma, right?
01:12 Right.
