00:02 ...of everything.
00:03 So, yes, we are back.
00:05 Everyone is back for a new episode.
00:08 Doesn't that sound so weird?
00:09 The SOHA's staff picks and we --
00:12 staff new music picks.
00:14 I'm Cyrus. We have everyone on screen.
00:16 You can see their names.
00:18 And we are here to congratulate
00:20 the one and only, our international,
00:22 the one host with the most,
00:24 Hanan and KBFR.
00:27 We go winning.
00:29 So, congratulations.
00:30 You know what? Let's give you a quick second.
00:31 You want to, like, just brag about
00:33 stealing Chris's pick from two weeks ago
00:35 and winning with that?
00:39 Yes, you're on mute. Yep.
00:40 -Yes. Mute moment. Sorry.
00:43 That was unintentional.
00:45 I swear. [ Laughs ]
00:47 Cross my heart.
00:49 Sorry, Chris.
00:51 I just think that it was not his time last week,
00:56 and it was time a little bit afterwards.
00:59 And I just took advantage of that unintentionally again.
01:02 So, of course, I'm really glad he's a great artist.
01:05 It's a very, very catchy, like, anthem-like song.
01:10 And, you know, I'm just glad
01:13 that we have exposure to him and against Chris.
01:17 Sorry, but we're good.
01:19 -That's just very much like Melania Trump
01:21 taking Michelle Obama's speech and, you know,
01:24 biting off of it. So, all good, Hanan.
01:27 That's super dope.
01:28 Just to give a rundown of last week's results,
01:31 I wish I could do -- I probably could do a screen share,
01:33 but I will just read it off.
01:34 So, KBFR, WeGo brought in over 60% --
01:39 actually, 60% of our votes.
01:41 We had nearly 1,000 people vote in this 24-hour time frame.
01:45 So, yes, that was a landslide.
01:46 Over 50% of the vote went to KBFR.
01:50 The second person, right, to have won --
01:54 let's see -- was Trenton.
01:55 Where's Trenton at? Monica Lewinsky?
01:58 No, St. John rapping about Monica Lewinsky.
02:01 So, very big props on that.
02:03 17% of the votes went towards Trenton's St. John.
02:07 Let's see. Next up was --
02:09 actually, believe it or not, it was Chris Goossens,
02:12 one of our previous champions, Navy Blues 1491.
02:18 Be on the lookout for "Oh, Navy Blue" as well, man.
02:21 That might be a remix in the near future.
02:23 And then, coming up, we have --
02:25 yes, even though I tried to steal votes
02:27 by putting my artist, Kid Vicious,
02:30 with Hannah's 26AR's "Bless the Booth,"
02:33 we couldn't win.
02:34 So, yes, we brought in 8% of the votes
02:37 with "Bless the Booth" by 26AR
02:39 and, yes, "COABN" by Kid Vicious.
02:44 And then, last but not least, let's see,
02:45 is Amar, our previous champion, man,
02:48 current champion, no longer.
02:51 AMO 98 Blue.
02:54 We'll give you a quick second.
02:55 Since you came in dead last with 6% of the votes, Amar,
02:58 any reason to think that we'll never see AMO 98
03:01 back on this voting poll?
03:04 -Um, I don't know, man.
03:06 I mean, I don't think it's really about the artist.
03:08 I mean, I think, you know, he's real talented.
03:10 I think it might have just been a logistical thing.
03:12 I think maybe, you know, 'cause my name was last on the poll,
03:15 you know, so maybe I just, you know,
03:17 people just kind of lost their attention span,
03:19 didn't give him those votes.
03:20 But, you know, you'll hear from him again.
03:23 -Gosh, it sounds very much like a Donald Trump-type statement, man.
03:26 Wow, wow, just can't accept that defeat.
03:28 All good. We're gonna get it going, though.
03:31 I wish I had, like, a game show theme song.
03:33 We will get rocking and rolling.
03:35 I'm super excited.
03:36 And you know what? Since you have such, you know,
03:38 an upbeat belief on why you lost, Amar,
03:42 let's start with you, man.
03:43 So, who is your artist this week?
03:45 Give us a little bit of a background
03:46 and the song that people will be voting on.
03:49 -Okay, so my artist this week,
03:52 he's named Little Dawg Young Boss.
03:55 He's actually -- He's out of Memphis,
03:57 but he's actually based in Switzerland right now,
04:02 which is pretty cool because some of his videos,
04:05 it's like the scenery and kind of like
04:07 the cinematography of the video,
04:09 because he's out there in Switzerland,
04:11 is, like, really dope.
04:12 Like, he's got, you know, pretty dope, like,
04:14 background shots in a lot of his videos.
04:17 But he's in the middle of this project
04:20 where he's dropping a new song and a new video
04:23 every week for a year,
04:25 which he started that in December of 2020.
04:28 So, if you go to his YouTube page,
04:30 it's like every week you're getting some new content,
04:32 which is cool.
04:33 So, out of all these songs
04:36 that Little Dawg Young Boss has dropped recently,
04:39 the one I picked for today is called "I'm Not the Same."
04:44 Like I said, I mean, he's, you know,
04:45 like a lot of the songs on his channel right now are dope,
04:48 but I think that was just kind of the one
04:49 that kind of stood out to me,
04:51 kind of got my attention.
04:52 So, check that out, Little Dawg Young Boss,
04:55 "I'm Not the Same," and go to his YouTube.
04:57 You can see all the other videos
04:58 that he's been dropping, one per week,
05:00 every week for the rest of the year.
05:03 -Wow, I don't think his publicist
05:04 could have said it better, Amar.
05:06 Wow, man, quite amazing.
05:09 That brings us over to the drill rap queen, Hannah.
05:13 Always so in love with those drill rappers.
05:15 I feel like there's a little heart connection
05:17 amongst her and those fellas.
05:19 Hannah, who do you have this week?
05:21 -Well, today is not drill rappers.
05:23 Different kind of rapper.
05:25 Today is Florida rappers.
05:27 So, I have Hot Boy, and he's from Orlando, Florida.
05:31 He's kind of, like, around the same place
05:33 where Kodak grew up.
05:35 And so, his song that I chose was "Don't Need Time."
05:39 It kind of blew up and has, like,
05:40 almost 50 million views on YouTube.
05:43 And I've heard it before.
05:45 Like, I researched the song.
05:46 I heard it on, like, TikTok and Instagram.
05:49 So, that's where I guess he kind of, like, got his name.
05:51 So, yeah, that's where he kind of got his name.
05:54 And, yeah, he kind of --
05:56 he gives off the, like, vibe of, like, Kodak and WNY Millie.
06:02 -Y'all should try to get some of that Sunshine State love.
06:04 You've given up on all the Brooklyn boys.
06:06 Now you're putting your trust
06:07 into a Florida Sunshine State rapper.
06:10 I got you.
06:11 Who is next on my little drop-down list
06:13 that I put here?
06:14 Cyrus. That would be me.
06:16 So, C-Y-R-U-S, Cyrus, please remember the name.
06:19 I am going with Quilly.
06:21 That's with a Q-U-I-L-L-Y.
06:24 Not super-duper familiar with him.
06:27 However, a few months ago, I actually saw one of his
06:30 freestyles on Funkmaster Flex, Hot 97,
06:33 the radio station over here.
06:34 And, you know, he has some bars,
06:35 but I really like the fact
06:37 that he's from North Philadelphia, right?
06:39 And I was like, "Yo, who is this guy?
06:41 Who is this guy?"
06:42 And, of course, we have this meeting today.
06:44 I was like, "Oh, my gosh, I need to get somebody real quick."
06:46 I was like, "You know what?" He kind of had a buzz.
06:48 I looked him up, and so Quilly out of North Philly,
06:51 the song that I'm going with is called "Switched Up."
06:54 I believe it's by Nick Lowe featuring Quilly,
06:57 so it's not his song, per se,
06:59 but nonetheless, he just has a really dope flow.
07:02 He is a mix of Meek Mill,
07:04 so kind of like those hard Meek Mill bars,
07:06 with Young Chris.
07:07 I know it's a throwback reference,
07:08 but if you've ever heard "House Party"
07:10 with Meek Mill and Young Chris,
07:11 they sound like both of those flows combined together,
07:15 and it's very dope.
07:16 So, you know, being a New York guy, Jersey guy,
07:19 I don't show a lot of love to Philly.
07:21 This is my kind of salute to you guys.
07:22 So Quilly out of North Philly, "Switched Up."
07:26 I'm already ready to give my acceptance speech
07:29 because I know I'm going to win with that one.
07:30 But as we wait on that, next up on the lineup,
07:33 we have Young Chris Goosens.
07:35 Light-skinned Chris is what they call him
07:37 out there in Massachusetts.
07:38 Chris, what do you got, man?
07:39 -I got a mask, yeah.
07:40 I got a 19-year-old from Gastonia, North Carolina.
07:43 His name is Del Nelson,
07:45 and he's really only released one song so far,
07:47 and that's what I'm using.
07:48 It's called "Life is Death,"
07:50 and it's like, to be honest, it's not like a banger.
07:52 I mean, I mean that in the sense
07:54 that it's got really serious lyrics.
07:55 Like, there's a lot of, like, socially conscious stuff,
07:57 kind of like Cyrus' pick last week and stuff.
07:59 So, like I said, it's not like a song
08:01 you can go crazy and turn up to, but he's got a lot of bars,
08:03 and just for his first song, I mean, it's pretty good,
08:05 so I would check him out.
08:07 He's legit, I think.
08:08 -Nice, man. Very cool.
08:10 Very honest right there.
08:12 Looking at my list, we have the one and only Trenton
08:16 representing the West Coast
08:17 right out of the Tacoma, Seattle, Washington.
08:20 What's up, Big T? Who you got this week?
08:23 -What up, y'all?
08:24 I got a man by the name of Céleon.
08:28 He's with the camp called Like Minds.
08:30 Like Minds is L-I-K-E-M-Y-N-D-Z.
08:36 And from my understanding,
08:38 Like Minds is a bunch of different individuals
08:41 who've come together.
08:42 They're all homies and came up together
08:44 and put together this worldwide brand
08:47 that they're trying to push.
08:49 And, well, actually, they've been pushing
08:51 for a very long time.
08:54 And the guy Céleon, I actually met him in the military.
08:59 He was out of KC when I met him, but he spent a lot of time.
09:03 He spent a lot of time in Germany,
09:05 and he's, like, doing this project
09:07 called Building Bridges where he's, like,
09:08 just linking up with as many people as he can
09:10 and trying to make music.
09:11 So I'm shouting him out right now.
09:14 Name of the song is "Motivation."
09:16 -Oh, man. Wow. Wow.
09:18 Very touching, man.
09:20 Don't think he's gonna come up anywhere close to my man.
09:22 Quilley! Quilley!
09:24 If anybody's watching this video.
09:25 And then, of course, the mighty return of JR.
09:28 This is a first for him.
09:30 So let's see if he can get gold on this one.
09:32 Young JR, who do you have this week, man?
09:36 -Well, I'm not gonna lie.
09:37 Not to put him down or anything,
09:39 but I have no faith that he will win.
09:41 But I just wanted to give him a little shout-out.
09:43 I heard him on a playlist that my friend put together.
09:47 He has this song called "Nina."
09:49 It has over a million plays on Spotify right now.
09:52 He's put out, like, three projects or so.
09:55 His name is Autumn with an explanation mark at the end.
09:59 And, I mean, you know, he's definitely
10:02 a really small artist right now.
10:03 Not very big.
10:04 I don't think he's gonna pick up any steam
10:05 anytime soon, but, you know,
10:07 unless he gets, like, a big hit or something like that.
10:09 But just an interesting style of music.
10:13 I like the melody that the song had and everything like that.
10:15 So that's my artist.
10:17 -Very dope. And next week, JR, I need to hear,
10:20 "Let's get rid of the rumble!"
10:22 Look at that big old microphone, man.
10:24 Wow. I feel like you were about to go into the booth
10:26 and started, like, doing bars.
10:28 And last but not least, the current champion,
10:31 Women's Awareness Month.
10:32 What?! Hanan, who are you rocking with?
10:35 Let's see if you can repeat as champion.
10:38 -Yes. I'm not hopeful, but yes.
10:42 Well, I had to try and win again.
10:46 And if I'm gonna try and win again,
10:47 it's gonna be a woman, female rapper.
10:50 And she's gonna be London. She's gonna be a Londoner.
10:52 And so, Dreya Mack, she's up and coming.
10:55 Her debut single, "Skippin'," came out in April last year.
11:01 And then she just put out another single,
11:04 which is my music pick, called "Bag."
11:07 And that's been out for about two weeks.
11:11 So definitely listen to it and support her.
11:13 She is a, once again, London-based female rapper
11:19 that has the swag of any American male rapper.
11:24 And you can just tell that everything that she's doing,
11:28 music-video-wise, the production's crazy
11:31 for someone who is starting out, in a way.
11:35 And she's the one who actually choreographs.
11:39 You can -- You know, she is a dancer,
11:42 and she choreographs everything in her videos
11:45 and directs it, as well.
11:47 Like, as soon as you start the video,
11:48 you'll see her name as the director.
11:51 So that's a big deal.
11:53 She is very versatile
11:54 and a powerful female role model in the music biz.
11:59 And she is English.
12:01 So go and give her some love.
12:03 -I love it. And what is her marital status, Hanan?
12:05 I will be looking her up immediately.
12:08 Any marital status updates?
12:09 No. We'll save that for the next episode.
12:11 Just stay tuned, everyone.
12:12 We should be back next week.
12:14 But if there is a slight delay, don't worry.
12:15 We will be back the following week.
12:17 We will have further updates from you.
12:19 And make sure, if you watch this video,
12:21 that means that the poll is up and live.
12:23 So please vote.
12:24 The poll stays up for 24 hours,
12:25 and then it ends, and then whoever wins,
12:28 that artist is featured on our YouTube channel,
12:30 which has over 500,000 subscribers.
12:32 So make sure to vote and see your artist
12:35 possibly in that spotlight.
12:37 So thanks for tuning in, everyone.
