Fife Flyers at The Hive LGBT+ hub ahead of this weekend's Pride game

00:00 I'm here with Lindsay in the Hive LGBT Hub in Kirkcaldy. You've got your big game this
00:10 weekend, the Pride weekend, the Five Flyers. What are your plans for the game on Saturday?
00:14 So we're heading along to the game for the second year in a row. Absolutely fantastic.
00:20 I think evenings like this for the LGBT+ community and sport are paramount. It shows how much
00:26 progress has been made and that, you know, particularly the Flyers have always been a
00:32 safe and affirmative place for everybody, which is what the aim is. So we're heading
00:36 along and presenting the man of the match and we're doing the puck drop, which is really
00:40 exciting and they've very kindly donated us one of the sought-after tops, the Pride tops,
00:45 this year. So we will be putting out a competition, some numbers that can be purchased for £5
00:53 each and you'll be able to do that from the Hive website. We're hoping to get as much
00:58 money as we can and that obviously will go right back into the organisation, into our
01:03 Pride fund because we're hosting Youth Pride this year at the Hive.
01:07 And you'll be announcing the winner of the strip at an event in February?
01:10 That's right, yes. So on the 10th of February, February is LGBT+ History Month. So here at
01:16 the Hive we are having an adult-only event. We're going to have live music. We've got
01:20 a local band, Kell and the Cahoolas, coming along and an Abertribute band as well. So
01:26 there'll be raffles and lots of different things going on and Fife Council have given
01:30 us an occasional licence so if people choose to they can have a wee drink while they're
01:34 here as well and we will be announcing the winner of the top that evening. So there's
01:38 a lot going on at the Hive. We've got a fantastic team. We're all working really hard to make
01:43 sure that the LGBT+ community throughout Fife has a safe space to come and that we're providing
01:49 all the services that are required.
