00:00 - This guy over here said I'm a little tolerant person.
00:02 - Yeah.
00:03 - Steve and Samuel, SOHH.com, take it away.
00:06 - All right.
00:07 50, several years ago, SOH.com, we interviewed you
00:11 and you told us exclusively that if Kanye West
00:14 sold more than you, you'd stop making albums.
00:16 - Yeah, yeah. - 2007?
00:17 - Yeah.
00:19 - Fast forward to 2015, do you have any bets with us
00:22 on power versus empire?
00:24 - Well, you know what?
00:29 I do, I do.
00:30 Even at that point, I was utilizing the two releases
00:33 to build enough energy to make the largest selling week
00:37 for records between me and Kanye.
00:39 We did it that week.
00:41 And creating a competition between two shows
00:45 that are extremely different and that aren't even
00:48 on the air at the same time is a great competition.
00:51 You know, so the power show versus empire
00:55 is like watching R-rated storytelling versus PG-13.
01:00 - Got you.
01:03 - You know, so it's extremely different.
01:05 - Okay.
01:06 Actually, Joe, we have a question for you.
01:10 A lot of these questions are from the users on the site.
01:12 - All right, okay.
01:13 - So, the streets say that Tommy is a cool white boy,
01:17 meaning that you're accepted.
01:18 What do you think of that?
01:19 - That's not what I hear from the streets.
01:21 - No. - They love him.
01:22 - Nah, I'm joking.
01:23 - They love you, man.
01:24 - Yeah, no, yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:26 Got a lot of love in the streets.
01:28 - Okay, okay.
01:29 - It's 'cause he with the shit.
01:31 Whenever they see somebody that's with it,
01:33 they can identify with it because they know the guy,
01:36 whether he look like Tommy or not, that was with it.
01:39 And then they go on, 'cause ghost characters,
01:42 like, at a crossroads and dealing with the struggle
01:46 of did I do things the right way?
01:47 Could I have been successful doing it a different route?
01:50 - Okay.
01:51 - You know, like, they look at him like,
01:53 cool, but not like the guy that is totally with the shit.
01:57 Like, you know what I mean?
01:58 And that's the way they registered Tommy's character.
02:00 - And I think that Tommy was also written
02:01 with this great history and some of it reflecting
02:04 50s on past of never giving up on that hustle.
02:08 Sometimes Tommy reminds me of the guy
02:10 that would have said, one of my favorite scenes
02:12 from Get Rich or Die Tryin' after the guy's like,
02:14 get out here with that change.
02:16 It's like, they didn't take change, I did.
02:18 - I took change.
02:19 (laughing)
02:19 - And it's that, however, I'm gonna make it to the top,
02:21 I'm gonna make it to the top,
02:23 which is one of his biggest disillusionments with Ghost,
02:27 when he's just like, what do you mean?
02:28 You don't wanna get there.
02:29 But I'm working, this is what we've been working for.
02:33 - Right.
02:34 - You promised me.
02:35 - Yeah.
02:35 - You're breaking a promise.
02:36 - Exactly, okay.
02:37 Business-wise, what are you guys looking
02:41 to accomplish with season two of Power?
02:44 - Well, I believe season two is maybe five
02:47 or 10 times better than season one,
02:50 'cause it actually gets into,
02:52 the intensity level goes up so high
02:54 during the second season that I think
02:56 it's gonna really surprise people how we're able to keep
03:01 the energy that you felt from the finale
03:03 throughout the whole season.
03:05 - Because season one was so solid,
03:07 and we got to explore the characters so much,
03:10 that now that people really know the characters
03:12 and who they are, they get to see them,
03:14 especially with Kanan getting out of prison,
03:16 we have an established idea of Kanan,
03:18 the dynamicism that he is, how smart he is,
03:21 now we get to see how he's gonna utilize that
03:23 now that he's back in the neighborhood.
03:25 - Okay.
03:26 We would like to know if there are gonna be
03:27 any spin-offs of Power, maybe take another character,
03:32 put him in a separate show.
03:34 - Well, there's a strong possibility
03:36 they see different things happening.
03:38 - All right, and then we'd like to know
03:41 what would you say are your five keys to achieving Power?
03:47 - The five keys to achieving Power is influence.
03:51 So finance is a part of it, but having the influence
03:55 and some sort of leadership skills or ability.
03:59 When you're able to manipulate people
04:02 and have them follow you in a really passionate way,
04:07 you can take things, you take things over.
04:11 - So what was it, influence, finance, choices,
04:16 leadership, and passion.
04:18 - Got it.
04:19 All right, thank you guys so much.
04:20 - I'm good at repeating.
