00:00 Your local observer has launched a very special app and I do hope you'll download it onto
00:07 your phone. It costs just a pound a week, there's very little advertising on it and
00:13 it's very, very high quality and a great reading experience. It's got all your local news,
00:19 the stuff you always want from your observer, the arts, culture, breaking news, shopping,
00:26 business. It's all there in a beautiful, concise app, updated throughout the day, seven days
00:33 a week. So download the app today and join all of your favourite reporters and your favourite
00:39 newspaper for a whole new reading experience. My name is Phil Hewer, Group Arts Editor for
00:44 Sussex Newspapers and principally the Chichester Observer where I've always worked and as part
00:50 of that job, a major, major part of that job, I cover all that happens in this magnificent
00:56 building here, Chichester Festival Theatre, which is just so central to the entertainment
01:00 world, not just in Chichester, but this country. It's a theatre with a national, international
01:05 status. My name's Conor Gormley, I'm a trainee reporter for the Chichester Observer. I think
01:12 in an increasingly globalised, international society, it's incredibly hard to preserve
01:19 a sense of local identity, a sense of community. It's increasingly hard to recognise and talk
01:25 about and think about what makes Chichester, Chichester. I think giving journalists the
01:29 space and the resources and the power and the money to properly engage with, report
01:35 on and speak to the communities they cover is of the utmost importance in terms of maintaining
01:41 the integrity and the identity of those places and I think the app is a great way to allow
01:45 us to do that. My name is Steve Bone, I am the Sports Editor for Sussex Newspapers and
01:51 for the past 16 years I've been the Sports Editor of the Chichester, Bogner and Midhurst
01:56 and Petworth Observer series. We're very lucky in this part of the world really to
02:01 have a real wide range of sport. I think the new app is quite an exciting development for
02:06 us and I'm looking forward to providing the sport content for it. I do think there
02:11 is a demand from people to have a sort of, for an app that they can look at, that they
02:16 know is going to be local, it's going to be about them, it's going to be about the
02:20 people and the teams that they follow. Something for everyone in Chichester. I remember quite
02:24 instantly sort of feeling at home here and feeling this was a place where the people
02:28 are friendly and there's so much to do and to see.
