00:00 When they were just starting off dating, there were a lot of people saying, "Oh, it's a marketing stunt."
00:04 But no, it's very real.
00:06 Kansas City Chiefs owner Clark Hunt is setting the record straight.
00:11 The Chiefs CEO appears on CNBC's Mad Money on January 12th
00:17 and shares his thoughts about Travis Kelsey and Taylor Swift's relationship.
00:22 What do you make of the Taylor Swift phenomenon?
00:24 What's it mean for the league? What's it mean for excitement?
00:26 Well, first of all, we're so happy for Travis Kelsey and Taylor and their relationship.
00:32 You know her?
00:33 I've had a chance to meet her at one of the many games that she's attended this year,
00:38 and she's just as sweet as she can be.
00:40 I also got to see her play here twice this past summer, and what an incredible performer.
00:46 I mean, just one of the most amazing artists of our time.
00:49 Clark goes on to mention how it's been a "very interesting year" with her at the games
00:55 and notes the increase of female viewership for the team.
00:58 It's been a very interesting, very fun year having the two of them dating.
01:03 The attention that's been focused on the Chiefs, our female audience has grown leaps and bounds.
01:09 Isn't that amazing?
01:10 Yeah, it really is.
01:11 Think about it. It's an unplanned phenomenon. You had nothing to do with it.
01:15 It was just--it just happened.
01:18 No, that's right. It was purely organic.
01:20 You know, when they were just starting off dating, there were a lot of people saying,
01:23 "Oh, it's a marketing stunt." But no, it's very real.
01:27 And as I said, the most important thing is we're happy for the two of them.
01:31 So there you have it. Taylor and Travis are not a marketing stunt,
01:35 and it's safe to say Clark Hunt is one of the Swifties.
01:39 This interview comes after the singer has made headlines for her attendance at NFL games this season.
01:45 And even though the Chiefs are happy to see Taylor, some dads, brats, and chads can't say the same.
01:52 In her interview for Time's 2023 Person of the Year, published on December 6th,
01:57 Taylor opened up about supporting Travis, saying,
02:01 "When you say a relationship is public, that means I'm going to see him do what he loves.
02:06 We're showing up for each other. Other people are there, and we don't care.
02:10 The opposite of that is you have to go to an extreme amount of effort to make sure no one knows that you're seeing someone.
02:17 And we're just proud of each other."
02:19 And as for the attention she gets, she's shaking that off too.
02:23 She adds, "There's a camera like a half mile away, and you don't know where it is,
02:28 and you have no idea when the camera is putting you in the broadcast.
02:32 So I don't know if I'm being shown 17 times or once. I'm just there to support Travis.
02:39 I have no awareness of if I'm being shown too much and pissing off a few dads, brats, and chads."
02:46 As for Travis, he opened up to the Wall Street Journal in November about all the attention, saying,
02:53 "The scrutiny she gets, how much she has a magnifying glass on her every single day,
02:58 paparazzi outside her house, outside every restaurant she goes to,
03:02 after every flight she gets off, and she's just living, enjoying life.
03:07 When she acts like that, I better not be the one acting all strange."
