00:00 "When you see sand here, imagine water. If you dive in, you can't reach the bottom."
00:05 "You dive in?"
00:06 "Yes, it's called swimming."
00:07 "I don't, I don't believe you."
00:09 Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're looking at 2024 movies
00:13 releasing between now and March 19th when winter officially ends.
00:17 Number 10. Madam Web, release date February 14th.
00:26 Of all the superhero cinematic universes, Sony's Spider-Man universe has had the roughest time
00:31 finding its footing. Will Madam Web be the one that finally gets it right, or are we looking
00:36 at the next Morbius? Admittedly, this line has us leaning toward the latter.
00:40 "He was in the Amazon with my mom when she was researching spiders right before she died."
00:45 Meme fuel aside, there are a few other reasons that Madam Web is on our radar.
00:50 Namely, there's Dakota Johnson, who has proven herself to be one of our most charismatic and
00:54 adventurous actresses, never afraid to take a risk.
00:58 "I knew he was gonna die. I think I'm seeing the future."
01:03 She's not the only promising name at the center of this web, which also features up-and-comer
01:07 Sidney Sweeney, Celeste O'Connor, and Isabella Merced. Whether it's another misfire or a bold
01:12 new direction, we're eager to see what exactly they've spun up.
01:16 "You're showing off."
01:19 "Maybe a little."
01:20 Number 9. Damsel, release date March 8th.
01:23 The bad news is that you're gonna have to wait a little longer for the final season of Stranger
01:27 Things. On the plus side, Millie Bobby Brown's next Netflix project is just around the corner.
01:33 "Welcome, princess."
01:34 When you need a young actress to play a badass heroine, Brown should be at the top of every
01:39 call sheet. It was only a matter of time until she added "warrior princess" to her resume.
01:44 Brown plays Princess Elodie, who enters an arranged marriage without getting all the details.
01:49 "You join a long line of women who have helped to build this kingdom."
01:55 Before Elodie can ask for an annulment, she's being sacrificed to a fearsome dragon.
02:00 Considering Brown's past roles, the dragon is the one who should be afraid in a film that
02:05 promises a unique blend of the fantasy and survival genres.
02:08 Number 8. Lisa Frankenstein, release date February 9th.
02:18 First, Katharine Newton put a horror movie spin on Freaky Friday.
02:22 Now, she's giving Frankenstein a comedic twist. It's come full circle. Lisa Frankenstein looks
02:27 like the kind of suburban horror comedy that Tim Burton would have made earlier in his career.
02:31 "Your hand? I can't believe you're here."
02:35 Just as Burton turned Johnny Depp from teen idol to Edward Scissorhands,
02:39 director Zelda Williams molds Cole Sprouse from Riverdale's resident
02:42 hearthrob to Frankenstein monster. Albeit a hunky Frankenstein monster.
02:47 "I love it. It's not really my style."
02:51 And yes, that's Zelda Williams as in Robin Williams' daughter,
02:54 making her feature directorial debut. With Jennifer's body being re-evaluated as a modern
02:59 classic, it's about time screenwriter Diablo Cody revisited horror. The premise might be
03:05 kooky, but with a lineup like this, we don't see how Lisa Frankenstein can go wrong. It's alive!
03:11 "I'm not making any more comments. You can talk to my lawyer."
03:15 Number 7. Bob Marley - One Love
03:18 Release date - February 14th
03:20 Kingsley Ben-Edir may not be a household name yet, although he's already played some of the
03:25 most influential voices in black history. He gave an underrated performance as Malcolm X in 2020's
03:31 One Night in Miami. In this biopic, Ben-Edir portrays another figure who tragically didn't
03:36 live to see age 40. "Where you wanna start?" "From the beginning."
03:42 Bob Marley's music lives on in One Love, which chronicles the trailblazing reggae singer's life.
03:48 Despite not coming from a musical background, Ben-Edir would learn to sing and play guitar
03:53 in a performance that'll combine his vocals with recordings of the real Marley.
03:57 "Won't you hear just in these songs of freedom?"
04:04 We're not even through the current awards season, but between Ben-Edir and director
04:08 Rinaldo Marcus Green of King Richard, One Love already has us looking ahead to next year's Oscars.
04:14 "One love, one heart, one destiny."
04:16 Number 6. Imaginary - Release Date - March 8th
04:20 Move over, Teddy Ruxpin. There's a new teddy bear bound to haunt our nightmares,
04:25 although this one is intentionally creepy.
04:27 With Megan and Five Nights at Freddy's both being two of last year's biggest financial
04:37 success stories, it only makes sense that Blumhouse would combine elements of the two
04:41 in Imaginary. The premise also possesses echoes of a Twilight Zone episode,
04:46 particularly Living Doll and Little Girl Lost.
04:49 "Baby, we shouldn't play together anymore, Chauncey. Baby, we shouldn't be friends."
04:53 "No, no, no, no, no."
04:55 Chauncey the bear seemingly has all the makings of a modern horror icon,
05:00 who will surely leave you on the edge the next time your kid says they're playing with an
05:04 imaginary friend. Speaking of which, we imagine this will make for a fun double feature when
05:08 "if" comes out later in May.
05:10 "Don't, don't look him in the eye."
05:12 "Which one?"
05:14 "You know damn well which one."
05:15 Number 5. Spaceman - Release Date - March 1st
05:20 When's Adam Sandler gonna get his Oscar nomination? That might have sounded like an
05:24 odd question if we had asked it a decade ago. With Uncut Gems and Hustle, though,
05:29 Sandler has been turning in one gripping performance after another as of late.
05:33 This sci-fi drama from Chernobyl director Johan Renck may bring Sandler's most intriguing
05:37 dramatic performance yet. The setup calls to mind Moon starring Sam Rockwell and Enemy
05:42 starring Jake Gyllenhaal.
05:43 "I did not intend to frighten you, skinny human. Do not be afraid."
05:50 Sandler plays an isolated astronaut who finds companionship in an extraterrestrial spider,
05:55 voiced by Paul Dano. It's surreal, to say the least, but this Netflix film has the potential
06:00 to deliver a poignant and fascinating experience.
06:03 "I just want to come home."
06:04 By the way, did the marketing campaign for Funny People predict this movie?
06:09 Number 4. Argyle - Release Date - March 1st
06:14 Henry Cavill was this close to playing James Bond, but the producers went with Daniel Craig.
06:19 Almost 20 years later, Cavill steps into another Bond-esque role as Agent Argyle.
06:24 "I certainly hope you dance as well as you dress."
06:26 "There's only one way to find out."
06:29 Director Matthew Vaughn previously delivered a fresh spin on the spy genre in the Kingsman movies.
06:34 Argyle takes an even more meta approach, with Bryce Dallas Howard playing a novelist
06:39 whose work imitates life. Or is this a case of life imitating fiction?
06:43 That's one of the hooks in a thriller reminiscent of North by Northwest and Charade,
06:51 with a dash of romancing the stone. In addition to Howard and Cavill,
06:55 you likely won't find a more stacked cast this season with Sam Rockwell, Brian Cranston,
07:00 and Samuel L. Jackson being some of the other names.
07:03 "It's time for you to meet the real Agent Argyle."
07:07 Number 3. Driveaway Dolls - Release Date - February 23rd
07:12 We might have spoken too soon because Driveaway Dolls also has an assembly of A-listers.
07:17 From Matt Damon to Pedro Pascal to Coleman Domingo,
07:21 this road comedy is primarily a showcase for two rising stars.
07:24 Margaret Qualley and Geraldine Viswanathan.
07:27 "I've been unhappy."
07:28 "That's why we take this trip together, honey babe. We get our act together, together."
07:32 The plot draws parallels to Thelma and Louise,
07:34 although Jamie and Marion are initially oblivious to the trouble they're in.
07:38 The two inadvertently get wrapped up with bumbling criminals in a farce
07:41 that can only be described as Coen-esque.
07:44 "What?"
07:46 "We should see what's in here."
07:47 Driveaway Dolls marks Ethan Coen's first narrative feature without his brother Joel.
07:52 Co-writing the script with his wife and longtime editor Trisha Cook,
07:56 Ethan Coen seems to be revisiting what he does best with a mix of comedy,
08:00 crime and classic misunderstandings that get out of control.
08:04 "Wow, you had a full day."
08:05 Number 2. Kung Fu Panda 4 - Release Date - March 8th
08:10 It's been 16 years since Poe became the Dragon Warrior.
08:13 We're sure that makes you feel old, but imagine how Poe must feel.
08:17 With Poe starting another chapter as the spiritual leader,
08:20 he must find his successor while taking on several villains, new and old.
08:24 "Get yourself off my turf!"
08:26 Viola Davis sounds deliciously evil as the chameleon,
08:31 who enlists a few foes from Poe's past.
08:33 Dreamworks has a solid track record with legacy sequels,
08:36 Puss in Boots The Last Wish being among the most pleasant surprises of recent memory.
08:40 Here's hoping that Kung Fu Panda 4 follows the same example,
08:44 revisiting the series' roots while looking ahead.
08:46 "We're not so different, you and I."
08:49 "Skadoosh."
08:52 Dreamworks is branching out from sequels as well,
08:54 with Orion and the Dark hitting Netflix in February.
08:57 "It makes me feel safe, like I'm wrapped in a warm blanket.
09:00 You know, if you're into that kind of thing."

09:18 #1 Dune Part II Release Date - March 1st
09:23 It's our most anticipated movie of 2024, that was originally supposed to come out in 2023.
09:29 "We gave them something to hope for."
09:31 "That's not hope!"
09:32 We have every reason to believe that Dune Part II will be worth the wait. Why?
09:38 Because director Denis Villeneuve delivered an instant cinematic classic with his 2021 epic,
09:43 and that was only the beginning. Anyone who's read Frank Herbert's dense novel knows that
09:48 the real meat of Paul Atreides' story is in the second half.
09:51 "I will do what must be done."
09:52 Villeneuve's adaptation hasn't even gotten to characters like Faye de Ralph Harkonnen,
09:57 played by Austin Butler, and Princess Irulan, played by Florence Pugh. Only time will tell if
10:02 Villeneuve returns for Dune Messiah, but one thing is for certain. We are seeing the second
10:07 chapter on the biggest screen possible. "Under the blue sea, Assata!"
10:13 What's on your watch list for this winter? Let us know in the comments.
10:16 "Consider what you're about to do, Paul Atreides."
10:19 "Silence!"
