00:00 All right, let's all go to the movies.
00:02 Let's all go to the movies and see
00:04 what flick chick says we should see.
00:06 Ah, there he is.
00:07 How you doing, Vicki?
00:08 Oh, God, Brad.
00:09 We're still in award season.
00:10 It seems like it never ends.
00:12 It's always.
00:13 We're talking about that.
00:14 And you know, to qualify, some movies
00:17 play in the bigger cities.
00:18 I don't know why Arizona and Phoenix isn't considered
00:21 one of the bigger cities by now.
00:23 If we can drive an election, we should be
00:25 able to see a movie in advance.
00:26 Thank you.
00:27 Anyway, so some of those movies that are Oscar contenders
00:29 are just now opening.
00:30 And one of the big ones is opening today
00:33 that you're going to be hearing a lot about if you
00:36 haven't heard about it.
00:37 But anyway, I know you always want
00:39 to know why I call myself the Red Vine reviewer,
00:41 because that's how I rate my movies, five
00:43 being the best Oscar worthy.
00:45 One is run, don't walk, run away.
00:49 And you know what, Brad?
00:51 I'm just going to tell you right now,
00:53 we have a five Red Vine movie.
00:55 Whoa.
00:56 Yeah.
00:56 Whoa.
00:57 Oh, yeah, just going right for it.
00:58 Yeah.
00:59 This is called The Zone of Interest.
01:00 And if you haven't heard about this movie yet,
01:02 you're going to be hearing about it,
01:04 because this is actually a foreign film that's
01:06 going to break--
01:07 it stands a lot of chances of breaking and being nominated
01:13 for a best picture, not just best picture
01:15 in a foreign language.
01:17 So we have this idyllic, beautiful family home
01:21 with these gardens, a little wading pool, flowers
01:26 everywhere.
01:27 And it's just so sweet for this family.
01:29 And guess what?
01:30 Guess who their neighbors are?
01:32 Auswisch.
01:33 This is the commandant, Rudolf Haas and his wife
01:38 Hedvig's home right next door to Auswisch.
01:43 It is an insane movie.
01:45 No, it's not based on truth, even though they
01:48 do use the real commandant's name and his wife's name.
01:51 This is all speculated.
01:53 It's not true at all.
01:54 But it is a gripping drama.
01:56 And a fascinating look at the banality of violence,
02:01 because these people--
02:02 the wife in particular, this is her domain.
02:05 And she loves it.
02:06 And she doesn't want to leave this.
02:07 She doesn't want her husband to get transferred.
02:10 This is where she's planting her flag.
02:13 And she loves this space.
02:16 And in the background, we know what's
02:18 happening right on the other side of that fence.
02:21 It is horrifying.
02:23 I sat forward with my hands covering my mouth
02:27 during this entire movie.
02:29 There is not a drop of bloodshed.
02:30 But at the end, you are drained and sickened.
02:34 And it's just so weird to think that there's
02:35 people denying the Holocaust at this day and age.
02:39 It's just insane.
02:40 Is this in English?
02:41 No, this is subtitled.
02:42 Subtitles?
02:43 Subtitles.
02:43 It's a German movie.
02:44 So a lot of movies these days, all these contenders,
02:48 have actors that are in multiple movies that are up for awards.
02:51 We're seeing a lot of that, right?
02:53 Well, the woman who plays Hedwig, the commandant's wife,
02:57 her name is Sander Huller.
02:59 And you're going to hear about her, because I saw her
03:01 in back-to-back movies in "Anatomy of a Fall," which
03:04 is playing right now.
03:06 She deserves an MVP award if there was something,
03:09 because her performances are gripping.
03:11 They're both in dramas.
03:13 The other one, she's suspected of her husband's death.
03:16 This one, she's the wife of a notorious killer.
03:20 And she gives amazing performances.
03:23 Everybody, you know her name's odd because of the spelling.
03:27 But it's Sandra Huller.
03:29 And you're going to hear about her, because she is amazing.
03:33 That's her right there.
03:34 Just an amazing actress.
03:36 "Five Red Vines," Ralph Vatt.
03:37 "Five Red Vines."
03:38 Oh, my gosh.
03:38 Incredible.
03:39 Incredible.
03:40 Haunting movie.
03:41 Really haunting.
03:42 You've got to check it out.
03:42 All right, this one is not a haunting movie.
03:44 I'm going to talk about it.
03:45 Change of pace, though.
03:45 Change of pace a little bit.
03:46 It's streaming on Netflix now.
03:47 And it's Kevin Hart's new movie, "Lift."
03:50 And it's about some art thieves that
03:54 have to steal actually gold from a billionaire who is actually
03:59 trying to rule the world.
04:01 It's kind of funny.
04:02 It's Kevin Hart in a little different--
04:03 Isn't that Elon Musk with the--
04:04 Like that.
04:05 You can think about it.
04:06 But they take on this very great action-packed love story.
04:10 And I'd say, well, Kevin is starting to come into his own
04:12 of not just being the comedy guy.
04:14 He's starting to move into that action kind of guy a little bit.
04:16 I love Kevin Hart.
04:17 It's just something nice and light to sit at home and watch.
04:19 I watched it after grabbing a big old bag of popcorn
04:23 from Harkins and just kind of streamed a little bit.
04:25 And it was kind of good.
04:26 Wow.
04:27 And so, yeah.
04:28 So you got to check out "Lift."
04:28 I'd give it-- if I was doing "Red Minds,"
04:30 I'd probably give it maybe 3 and 1/2.
04:32 And I believe starting today on Apple+,
04:35 you can start to see "Killers of the Flower Moon" too.
04:37 That actually last week very quietly.
04:39 Oh, did it already?
04:39 Oh.
04:39 Yeah, very quietly.
04:40 So yes, that's another thing to stream.
04:41 And so why not go pick up some popcorn
04:43 or get some popcorn at the movies?
04:45 Because today is 50% off popcorn.
04:47 I know!
04:47 Isn't that great?
04:48 Yes.
04:49 And all the theaters have different deals, huh?
04:51 AMC Theaters, guests who buy a movie ticket
04:53 can get unlimited refills of any size popcorn.
04:56 Wow.
04:57 So that's pretty cool.
04:58 Roadhouse Cinema offering 50% off of all popcorn.
05:00 And Harkins Theatre offering 50% off of all popcorn.
05:02 Wow.
05:03 And they were talking about popcorn this week.
05:06 And I had to go out to the mall to pick up some things.
05:10 And--
05:10 So you stopped and got some popcorn?
05:12 Do we have a picture of my big bag?
05:14 Do we have a picture?
05:14 No, we didn't get the picture.
05:15 You didn't get the party bag?
05:16 I got the big bag.
05:17 So you can't buy it at the movie theater.
05:19 You got to go to the desk at Harkins and ask for it.
05:22 The party bag.
05:23 Party bag.
05:23 And they started even doing a bigger party bag,
05:25 I understand, too.
05:26 It's going to be huge.
05:26 Yeah, I love the party bag.
05:28 There it is.
05:29 Vicki, remind them where they can find all
05:31 your different reviews with us.
05:33 Well, I'm on Facebook under Flick Chick Mickey,
05:35 and that's V-I-Q-U-E.
05:37 And then every Friday with you, Brad.
05:38 I like it.
05:39 There you go.
05:39 I love it.
05:40 Thank you, Miss Vicki.
05:41 Next week, no movies, but we're going
05:42 to talk Oscar picks because Oscar announcements are on Tuesday.
05:45 Yeah.
05:46 So, all right.
05:46 There we go.
