Giants 2023 Running Backs Position Review

00:00 For as long as Saquon Barkley has been part of the New York Giants and has been healthy,

00:04 he has been the team's bell cow at running back. But as is unfortunately the case, injuries have

00:10 crept into Barkley's life and the combination of injuries and his getting older have started to

00:15 take a toll on him to where he no longer seems to have the burst he once had to get through the

00:20 second level with any sort of regularity. So with the Giants and Barkley a pending UFA at a crossroad,

00:27 it would not be surprising if the Giants move away from the bell cow approach at running back

00:31 and to more of a committee approach starting in 2024. Of course if that's indeed in the plans,

00:37 that would mean a couple of things. One, Barkley is probably not going to get the kind of contract

00:42 he's hoping for. But more importantly, and looking at the depth at the position, which also includes

00:48 pending UFA Matt Breida, Gary Brightwell, Eric Gray, and Jeshaun Corbin, it's kind of clear that

00:55 running back is one of those under the radar priorities for General Manager Joe Shane to

00:59 address in what's already a lengthy list of needs.
