00:04 Hi, I'm Ali Reza Ghassemi, an Iranian filmmaker,
00:09 born and raised in Tehran, but I'm currently based in Paris.
00:12 And I'm Rahamir Fazli, an Iranian filmmaker,
00:15 also born and raised in Tehran, and I'm
00:17 currently based in New York.
00:19 We are the writers, directors, and co-producers
00:22 of In the Land of Brothers, which
00:25 will have its premiere in Sundance Film Festival
00:27 2024 in awards cinema competition.
00:31 This film was only made possible through our talented cast
00:34 and wonderful crew.
00:36 For a story that leans heavily on family love and strength,
00:39 we were able to find the same dynamic in our production
00:42 family.
00:43 Our story is set in Iran, where a harsh reality exists
00:47 for more than 5 million Afghan war refugees who
00:51 are building new lives in a society that
00:53 consider them to be less than.
00:57 Our film follows one such extended family
01:01 during the course of 30 years.
01:06 They persevere only to find the cost of their long-held dreams
01:11 is almost more than they can bear.
01:13 In the Land of Brothers is our debut feature.
01:16 We shot it in 46 days in five different cities
01:19 throughout Iran and during four different seasons.
01:23 It shows a picture of Iran that the audiences may not
01:26 have seen.
01:27 Many of these locations were often missed by our Afghan cast,
01:31 and we had to shoot their scenes while hiding them
01:33 in plain sight.
01:34 This is our first time in Park City,
01:37 and we are super excited to see you at our screenings
01:41 or around the town.
01:43 And if you see us, please let us know your favorite Park City
01:46 spots.
