00:00 GWS Giants stars Toby Green and Tom Green are in the thick of AFL pre-season training,
00:07 but instead of resting on their day off, they've swapped their professional team mates for
00:13 footy fanatics of a different kind.
00:16 "Footy's pretty big here, it's certainly growing. When the Giants come down and play at Marnika,
00:22 we definitely feel the love and thought it was a great opportunity to get as many kids
00:27 involved here as we can."
00:28 They're hosting Canberra's inaugural fifth quarter camp, a concept created by the Giants
00:33 captain and Sydney Swans Isaac Heaney. It sees children from 6 to 16 develop skills
00:39 in the game they love, with guidance from some of the code's biggest names.
00:43 "We've got a mix of everything and we love it. We're happy to teach anyone and everyone
00:47 and just like I said before it's all about having fun and promoting the game."
00:51 Canberra junior Tom Green has seen Aussie rules grow in the region since he finished
00:55 school in 2018. Now he's keen to help the trajectory.
00:59 "To give kids in Canberra that opportunity is amazing and the Giants academy is a little
01:03 bit more selective sort of stuff whereas this is anyone who wants to come down and I think
01:09 that's a really great opportunity to open the floor to everybody in Canberra."
01:12 While the kids are understandably starstruck, they can still see the broader picture.
01:17 "If this keeps happening then lots of people can get into playing AFL."
01:21 "Because the more girls in AFL they'll be better it becomes. It's a better sport if
01:26 there's more people in it."
01:27 Kicking goals together.
01:28 - Okay.
