The Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys both ended seasons that started with high expectations in a disappointing fashion.

00:00 The Eagles may have been a bigger disaster than Dallas.
00:03 I can't believe I'm actually saying this right now,
00:05 because when you look at Nick Sirianni
00:07 having coached his team to the playoffs,
00:09 coached them to a Super Bowl, being on the hot seat,
00:12 it would have seemed laughable a few weeks ago.
00:14 But the way the Eagles collapsed
00:17 was something to see in real time,
00:19 to the point where Troy Aikman was basically
00:21 calling the team out on the broadcast.
00:24 The thing with Dallas, I think, is more just like,
00:26 you know, is Dak quite good enough?
00:28 Are they quite good enough?
00:29 It didn't look the same as far as it being
00:32 this deflating, embarrassing flame out.
00:35 I think the problem for Philly is,
00:40 it's not just an organizational problem,
00:42 it's a personnel problem too.
00:43 When I look at Dallas,
00:45 I still feel like they have the right pieces.
00:47 I don't think they have the right person in charge
00:49 as a head coach.
00:50 I think the owner is a little bit too involved,
00:53 but they still have the right bodies.
00:55 Like, they've drafted very well.
00:57 They're good both on the offensive line,
01:00 defensive line, and on the back end on the defense.
01:03 They have a lot of really good skill positions.
01:05 I'm not sold at running back,
01:06 but when you got CeeDee,
01:08 and you got Dak,
01:08 and then you got Micah,
01:10 they have a lot of pieces.
01:11 What Philly was really concerning
01:13 is that the organization is having issues.
01:17 I think the owner's too involved.
01:19 I think Howie made some bad decisions during the off season,
01:22 and then you take it down to the coach.
01:23 If you're not gonna call plays,
01:25 then you have to do something.
01:26 You gotta be great at something.
01:28 And the Eagles were terrible in situations
01:30 and game management.
01:31 That's supposed to be Nick Dariany's bag,
01:33 and they were terrible at it.
01:34 So in that case, then your head coach
01:36 isn't doing anything.
01:37 And then you go to personnel.
01:38 They have nobody on defense.
01:39 Their defense line was supposed to be
01:41 one of the best groups on that defense,
01:43 and guess what?
01:44 They didn't do much for most of the year,
01:45 especially the latter half of the year.
01:47 And then you go on offense.
01:48 As talented as their offense is on paper,
01:51 they underachieved by a lot.
01:52 So now you leave this season thinking like,
01:54 all right, I don't even know where to start
01:56 when it comes to correcting the problems with Philly.
01:58 At least with Dallas, you know where to start.
02:02 - Well, look, I mean, I'm not saying
02:03 that Mike McCarthy's going to keep his job or anything,
02:07 or even what's gonna happen
02:08 with that quarterback position,
02:10 but they have had some measure of success consistently,
02:13 and Jerry Jones is actually more patient
02:16 than he probably gets credit for
02:18 just because they're covered more often.
02:20 It was the Eagles who made the change away
02:22 from Doug Peterson not that long ago.
02:24 So which team is more likely to make a move?
02:27 I might lean Philly Special.
02:29 - I agree.
02:31 And if you look at when Doug got let go,
02:33 they didn't necessarily want to fire Doug,
02:35 but because the owner wanted to make decisions
02:38 on who his assistants were,
02:39 and Doug wasn't with it, Doug was gone.
02:41 I'm sure they're probably gonna go to Nick
02:43 at some point in the off season and say,
02:44 hey, listen, if you want to stay here,
02:47 these are the coordinators we want you to have.
02:49 If Nick's not with it, he'll be gone.
02:51 When you got guys, there's too many cooks in the kitchen.
02:54 I feel like it's really gonna be a struggle
02:55 for Philly for the next couple months.
02:57 - They got fans throwing popcorn at them and everything.
