00:00 [Bell rings]
00:01 Referee, third man in the middle, Mr. Philip Holliday.
00:04 [Crowd noise]
00:11 Okay guys, I've been to instructions, I want a clean fight, okay?
00:15 Listen to my instructions all night, okay?
00:17 Touch gloves.
00:18 Come here, come here, come here, come here.
00:21 Here we go.
00:23 I want you to listen to this fight, okay?
00:24 You better listen to my instructions, touch gloves.
00:26 Let's go, get out of here.
00:27 Here we go.
00:29 There's nothing like it.
00:32 Rugby league teams or rugby union teams can scare each other off,
00:37 but when it's one on one and the eyes lock,
00:41 and the butterflies in the stomach, they feel like buffaloes,
00:46 you just know it's about to happen.
00:49 Yeah, there's genuine hatred in this one, Andy,
00:51 and it's got all the ingredients to be potentially fire of the night because of that reason.
00:56 There's been plenty of animosity in the press conference at the weigh-in
01:01 and all the way in the lead up to this on social media and so on and so forth.
01:06 So, like I said, got all the ingredients of potentially stealing fire of the night.
01:11 Adrian Rodriguez in the grey with the fluffing, the white fluffing.
01:20 And Lewis Chadwick in two-tone blue.
01:26 Very different fighters too.
01:28 You can see the height and reach advantage most certainly with Chadwick.
01:32 He's going to be content to box from the outside.
01:37 Rodriguez, he boxes from the outside.
01:40 He's happy there.
01:41 Make no mistake about it.
01:43 But what he really wants to do is take that step and a half in,
01:47 position himself on your chest and just bash you.
01:51 He wants to get on the inside and fight you.
01:55 Good left hand from Rodriguez.
01:59 Both fighters probably on those separate sides of their careers as well.
02:04 I'd say Rodriguez is probably in the twilight of his career,
02:08 whereas Chadwick is on the way up.
02:11 So it brings this fight really, really close.
02:15 Because if you look at the experience,
02:17 you'd think it'd be a walk in the park for Rodriguez.
02:19 But like I said, opposite ends of their career,
02:22 and it's making this fight very interesting.
02:27 He'll wrestle you too, Adrian, if you want.
02:32 He's going to continue to push to get on the inside.
02:35 A lovely turn is the inside.
02:37 Nice little shot from Chadwick trying to get around the defenses.
02:43 He has marked up the right eye, or left eye should I say, already.
02:50 A little smile from Kid Lightning.
02:53 I've heard that moniker before.
02:56 I think back in the day, back in generations before we were all boxing fans,
03:02 anyone under 58 kilos was termed Kid Lightning.
03:10 That's the right hand from Chadwick. Rodriguez blocked the follow-up.
03:14 That's really nice defensive boxing, defensive work.
03:17 You can see he's quite a crafty boxer as Chadwick.
03:20 So he wants to be in the center ring as much as possible.
03:22 And you can see he ducks and gets back to center ring,
03:25 and he showboats a little bit because that's where he wants to be.
03:28 Whereas Rodriguez, like you said, Andy, he wants to be close.
03:31 He wants to be messy. He wants to be on the ropes.
03:33 He wants to be in the corners because that's where he holds all the advantages in this fight.
03:38 Lewis Chadwick, I don't think confidence is an issue.
03:43 He's a little bit of showboating for his fans here early.
03:47 He's got a level of confidence already.
03:54 You can see some replays here from that first round.
03:57 And it was an intelligent round from Chadwick.
04:00 He did what he had to do. He got to center ring.
04:03 He kept it locked because that's where he holds the advantages.
04:07 Yeah, he's arguably the better boxer out of the two.
04:10 The better scrapper is that man Rodriguez, and he wants to get as close and dirty.
04:15 But once again, it's only a six-round contest.
04:18 Rodriguez is used to fighting in title fights, 10 rounds, 12 rounds.
04:23 All of a sudden, this is a sprint rather than a marathon, and he needs to start now.
04:29 Yep, you're exactly right.
04:33 Adrian Rodriguez would be happy if you halved the ring and then halved it again.
04:41 He doesn't want to have to go from side to side and rope to rope.
04:46 He'd rather plant the feet and throw them.
04:51 Watch your hands, boys, watch your hands.
04:55 A couple of indicators here from both guys at different times over the first round.
05:01 Maybe in the second round, both are getting just a little frustrated with the movement of the other.
05:08 Don't do that, don't do that.
05:10 I think it's the corner telling Adrian, you've got to start now.
05:15 Like I was saying in the previous round, he hasn't got time to waste here.
05:19 He can't warm into this fight.
05:21 This is a sprint, and you can see he's starting to up the ante already.
05:24 He's starting to throw a lot more punches than he did in that opening round.
05:27 He's starting to close that distance, he's starting to change his levels.
05:31 But that's two really good body shots from Chadwick, both landing there as he tries to drop his stance and crack him into the body.
05:40 And he did that right there and back to center ring, you can see.
05:43 He's actually doing everything perfect so far as Chadwick.
05:48 But Rodriguez, you can see, he just wants to get close and he wants to bang him.
05:53 We often see a guy early in his career, just like Louis Chadwick, throw body shots consecutively, left and right hand.
06:03 But rarely do we see them successful.
06:06 It's part of a learning curve. Rodriguez is on a bit of a learning curve here.
06:11 And count's been put on.
06:14 Adrian probably more embarrassed than anything.
06:20 Phil Holliday, our referee, our judges at ringside, Paul Williams, Trent Van Gaalen and the great Johnny Watson.
06:29 Rodriguez is tough, but make no mistake, he's taken some big shots already.
06:34 And there's another one just sneaking through there from Chadwick.
06:36 He's just got his measure at the minute, and he's got to start changing it up and changing it up quickly, does Rodriguez.
06:43 Because he's gaining confidence by the seconds, it's Chadwick.
06:47 He's only a very inexperienced boy when it comes to, compared to Rodriguez.
06:52 But yeah, he's almost, he's gaining experience by the second here.
06:57 Watch your head, watch your head.
07:02 Generally the crowds in Brisbane or in Queensland don't appreciate the show boating, but he's backing it up with his fists.
07:14 Really nice work in the back end of that for Lewis Chadwick.
07:19 Yeah, he's having fun out there at the moment. He's seeing everything, he's very loose.
07:25 He's just got to stay smart, because Rodriguez is very strong, and when he hits you, you stay hit.
07:30 So all he needs is one of those to get through, and all of a sudden the game changes.
07:35 And it's not about now, Andy. He's building.
07:40 He's only had, what, less than 10 fights as Chadwick, so it's about continuing to better yourself.
07:48 He's only had four fights. He's had the three wins and the one loss.
07:54 So very, very inexperienced.
07:56 So yeah, it's about bettering yourself for the future.
08:00 So you have to do everything correctly.
08:02 The more times you practice something correctly, it will then become natural in the future.
08:08 I recall speaking to, I think it was Billy Limov, after the fight with Limov and Rodriguez.
08:17 And he said exactly what you just said. Rodriguez is crazy strong for his size in there.
08:23 If you do get into a pushing wrestling match, you're going to come second, so you do everything you possibly can to avoid that.
08:31 And so many times I've seen him behind on the scorecards, and he just delivers a one-punch knockout, and that's game over for his opponent.
08:39 So he's in this fight, make no mistake, until he's either counted out or the last bell.
08:45 Rodriguez coming across the ring, guard high, looking for the right hand.
09:00 Chadwick almost mocking, just rolling his left shoulder.
09:03 Little taps from Rodriguez underneath the left rib cage of the young North Queenslander.
09:11 Just a little bit of mugging him.
09:15 He catches him there, Rodriguez. He's just, I said, he's still very dangerous.
09:25 Victories to Chris Hunt, Jonathan Tuhu and Sui Tama-Manueli, but a loss, a unanimous decision loss in July to Joel Pavlidis for Louis Chapman.
09:37 Moving into a southpaw stance there.
09:41 I think there's certainly something with Louis Chadwick, and I love the fact that he's enjoying himself.
09:51 I think it's too early in his career to be this confident and showboating a little.
10:00 There's plenty of time for it in the future.
10:02 Might be the same to stick around to business, get the job done.
10:06 I've been doing this a while, mate, and you know what?
10:14 Nothing good comes out of it because you've got Rodriguez catches Chadwick at some stage.
10:21 It's a real bad look. I don't know if that happens tonight.
10:27 Andy, habit comes from repetition.
10:30 So if you repeat the right thing, it's going to become a habit.
10:33 If you repeat the wrong thing, it's going to become your habit.
10:36 So you've just got to watch out.
10:38 You might sneak away with wins. Like I said, people at the twilight of their career are not the best version of them.
10:45 But all of a sudden, when you're stepping up and you start doing that against somebody with a better quality opposition than on the same level as you career-wise, you might find yourself in trouble.
10:54 You've got opening up. That's nice work from Chadwick.
11:01 Make no mistake, he's boxing beautifully.
11:04 Yeah, he is.
11:05 He's boxing beautifully. He's just enjoying it maybe a little bit too much.
11:10 I still reckon you're all mad. I don't know what there is to enjoy about wearing a left hand on the end of the nose.
11:21 But be that as it may, we're enjoying our night here at Eaton's Hill.
11:25 This is fight number three of the evening.
11:34 Strong, more remaining. Some big fights coming up.
11:37 Taylor Robinson and Luke Medini and Ben Kelleher for the Australian Cruiserweight title.
11:42 Floyd Masson and Eve Nagabu.
11:46 Our main event, IBO Cruiserweight world title.
11:51 And all the mail, all the experts are telling me Floyd Mason, he has got to not only be on his game, he's got to be 20% better than what we've seen.
12:04 Otherwise, he's in all sorts tonight.
12:07 Big wraps on Eve, the Belgian superstar.
12:12 You see some highlights of round three.
12:18 It was another very, very dominant round for Chadwick.
12:22 As we creep past the halfway point right now, as we step into the fourth round in this six round contest.
12:33 Stay back, stay back, stay back.
12:35 Always good to see the sergeant of Australian boxing here, who noted a story in a former heavyweight in his own time, the Sergeant Ray Schultz.
12:44 Great supporter of ace boxing and Aussie boxing.
12:49 We continue on with Chadwick and Rodriguez. Chadwick's fight to lose for mine at this point.
13:01 Rodriguez still sharp, still fresh.
13:04 There hasn't been that one big shot, it's been an accumulation of shots.
13:11 Which can be just as devastating and just as brutal.
13:16 You can just see the speed difference Andy.
13:19 Yes.
13:20 As I said, you can enter the career and just start to slow up a little bit as Rodriguez.
13:25 The power's still there, the last thing that goes is the power.
13:28 But the speed is definitely not what it used to be for Rodriguez.
13:33 And that's a big telling factor in this fight.
13:35 Lavering said so many times over the press conference on Thursday, "I wanted this fight longer."
13:42 "If you're that confident, why won't you go?"
13:44 "Eight, ten rounds with me."
13:47 "One, two, three, enjoy it."
13:49 Shoulder roll, shoulder charge, shoulder push, call it what you want.
13:54 Rodriguez, he sees head of breath, he sees fatigue.
14:04 But his expression doesn't change and it hasn't changed.
14:08 And his body movement hasn't changed and it won't change.
14:12 He wears a couple of right hands there.
14:14 A couple of big right hands as he's coming in there, Rodriguez.
14:18 But you might have noticed as well, Rodriguez as well is only headhunting.
14:22 I'd like to see him go to the body.
14:24 He's got the experience with, obviously, the rounds under his belt.
14:28 He knows how to hit to the body and he hits to the body well.
14:30 So I would have liked to see him in the earlier rounds really invest in that body.
14:35 And I think it would have taken more of a toll potentially on Chadwick.
14:39 But he's looking very, very fresh still here.
14:43 And the young Keller Lewis very well walks into a left hand there.
14:47 And then that's a big left hand and he's counting it.
14:51 Adrian's saying it was a push.
14:55 So that's two knockdowns in four rounds.
15:02 So effectively Andy needs to stop him to win.
15:06 I mean he's won all four rounds and he's scored two knockdowns as well.
15:10 Which equates to ten eight rounds.
15:12 He's got a six point lead after four rounds.
15:15 And then we've got two rounds to go after this one.
15:17 Rodriguez needs to stop him.
15:19 This is his only way of victory.
15:21 And it's not looking likely here as Chadwick pulls on the pressure.
15:24 And he's hit him with multiple punches.
15:27 Rodriguez trying his hardest to come back.
15:31 You can see the big right hand just missing the mark.
15:33 But Chadwick has a look.
15:37 Power still there from Adrian Rodriguez.
15:40 That right hand was a fight finisher if it was on the mark.
15:44 It wasn't.
15:45 So it's a hypothetical.
15:47 But it's not going to take much more.
15:50 Yeah the former Australian Super Worldweight Champion.
15:55 He's having a hard day at the office tonight.
15:58 He's definitely got a young up and comer in front of him.
16:03 That's probably just beating him to the punch more often than not tonight.
16:07 It's just that speed factor is really having a massive influence on this fight.
16:12 As you can see that big left hand and that right hand that sends him to the canvas.
16:17 He was disputing the knockdown but really looking at the replay.
16:21 It was half a push and half a punch.
16:24 So you've got to excuse the referee.
16:26 Could have gone either way that one.
16:30 He was going to fall anyway.
16:33 I've no doubt because of the push or the tangle.
16:36 But he was caught by a shot at the end of it.
16:39 So by definition it was a knockdown.
16:41 We might not like it but by the rules it was a great call by Phil Holliday.
16:46 Two rounds.
16:50 What has Adrian Rodriguez got because he's certainly up against it.
16:55 He's got to make this rough and tough.
16:57 He's got to get dirty.
16:59 It's sad to say but that's the only way he's going to win this fight now.
17:02 He's got to go throw multiples.
17:05 You can't just throw those singles.
17:06 You just throw one hook just then.
17:08 He just gets counted straight away.
17:10 He's got to throw multiple punches and back him into the corners and the ropes.
17:14 And then unleash that power that we know he has.
17:17 This fight sponsored by Ultratune.
17:19 Sean Buckley and the crew.
17:20 We'd also love to thank NA Lawyers for building products.
17:23 Arvia Homes, Madison Sports Zoo, Creative and Oxworks.
17:28 After Party at Pato's house.
17:32 We've got a worldwide audience on the Ace YouTube channel tonight.
17:46 Lots of Belgians watching on for Yves Nagabu.
17:52 And a very strong French contingent.
17:57 A lot of Wallabies supporters enjoying the morning with the laptop on and the YouTube channel up.
18:05 A massive mouth under the left eye of Adrian Rodriguez.
18:09 That's obviously been caused by the right hand of Chadwick.
18:12 He marches forward and a big swing and a big miss from Rodriguez.
18:15 And Chadwick is back on here.
18:17 But that's a massive mouth under the eye.
18:21 That'll be nice and swollen in the morning that's for sure.
18:26 Chadwick still picking him up in an attempt to go round number 5.
18:29 The penultimate round.
18:31 Rodriguez frustration been evident from midway through round number 1.
18:38 The stylistically probably...
18:41 Don't push. Watch your head.
18:43 Not his fight.
18:44 Good going to the body.
18:46 Watch your head. You're pushing.
18:47 Good uppercut there from Chadwick.
18:51 Watch your head.
18:52 Chadwick barely marked.
18:59 Nice short sharp punches from Lewis.
19:04 He's been fought in his part of the ring and that's in the ring.
19:11 Chadwick most of this bout has been fought in the centre.
19:16 And that's where he holds all those advantages that we spoke about at the start of this fight.
19:21 Watch your head. You're pushing now.
19:24 Last couple of seconds of round number 5.
19:30 As Adrian Rodriguez got that one last round.
19:37 One last punch.
19:40 He's bashed up and he's beaten at the moment.
19:45 As he moves back to the corner.
19:47 One more.
19:49 Just the last round.
19:53 Another dominant round from Chadwick.
20:13 As you can see the scoring effortlessly.
20:17 That uppercut hitting the mark also for Chadwick.
20:20 Marked up and marked up bad is Rodriguez.
20:25 But he's still willing. He's still throwing.
20:28 And this is his last chance at redemption.
20:32 To get something back from this fight and cause a massive boil over.
20:36 Phil, what were they reading?
20:40 I don't know what about. I think they've both been terrifically behaved.
20:45 Despite the animosity. Despite the fact that at times in the lead up to the fight it got personal.
20:51 It has been fought in a terrific spirit from both guys.
20:55 Representing their corner's family and sponsors particularly well.
20:59 All eyes on Adrian Rodriguez.
21:03 As he got that one shot left in his arsenal.
21:08 Down to the body.
21:11 Trying to drop the elbows of Lewis Chadwick.
21:14 Another uppercut attempt from Chadwick.
21:20 Finds home there. Little three punch combination is good work.
21:24 Yeah, good combination there.
21:26 He throws the short rapid fire punches extremely well Lewis Chadwick.
21:35 Good eye. Looks like a natural athlete. Good hand eye.
21:39 And punches with both hands.
21:42 For somebody with his experience usually they favour one hand.
21:46 It's just a big right hand or just a left hand or a jab that they usually favour.
21:51 But he's just mixed it up well.
21:53 He's hit to the body at times. There it is. A body shot.
21:56 He's gone to the head.
21:58 He's even thrown that uppercut when Rodriguez ducks his head.
22:01 Which is, you know, he's doing everything right Chadwick.
22:03 So you've got to pat him on the back for that.
22:05 Stamping out that left jab.
22:11 Worked really well for him.
22:14 Rodriguez with a minute twenty.
22:19 And a punches chance.
22:22 Behind on the scoreboard. Well behind.
22:25 Yeah, he's got to go now if he's going to go because there's a minute left.
22:28 And time is running out. It's running out very quickly.
22:31 He's got to break that distance now.
22:33 He can't just stand there mid-range because he's just getting picked off.
22:37 Minutes feel like hours when you're winning.
22:41 Minutes feel like seconds when you're losing.
22:44 We've got fifty of them.
22:48 It could be a long fifty seconds for Lewis.
22:52 It'll seem like it's over in a flash for Adrian.
22:57 Who would love the extra time to keep on going and look for that one shot.
23:01 Right hand just glancing shot over the top of the head of Chadwick.
23:06 He's desperate. He's trying his hardest.
23:08 Rodriguez but no success with a big right hand lean from Chadwick.
23:12 And he wants to finish this early.
23:14 In the wrestle here they've just thrown him with twenty seconds remaining.
23:20 Really good middleweight contest here between Lewis Chadwick.
23:23 And also Adrian Rodriguez.
23:26 Good variation of shot there from Chadwick.
23:29 He digged into the body, finished with a left hook to the head.
23:32 Both scoring.
23:33 Oh and a right hand to finish off.
23:37 And that's the full stop.
23:39 A really good performance by Lewis Chadwick.
23:43 In only his fifth professional fight.
23:46 He's done really well there.
23:51 As has Adrian Rodriguez.
23:54 Great ambassador for the sport.
23:56 And after all the bad luck, two of them shake hands.
23:59 They say you know what?
24:00 What I said I didn't mean.
24:02 I'm just talking up the fight.
24:04 Lucky Beck didn't reach over the ropes and start throwing.
24:09 Well let me tell you Adrian at the press.
24:11 I said if you beat me in the boxing fight I'll meet you out in the street.
24:14 No definitely win there.
24:16 And I probably wouldn't bet against that.
24:18 But as we can see some final clippings of the sixth round.
24:22 It was a dominant performance by Lewis Chadwick.
24:25 And he deserved his victory.
24:27 Very much so.
24:29 We are going to go to the judges scorecard.
24:34 That bow brought to you by Ultratune.
24:36 Also as I said thanking our other sponsors Hannah Lawyers.
24:40 Chris and Dan.

24:52 Brian Carmody.
24:53 Ryan Hunter at Zoo Creative.
24:55 And Mr G Hosking.
24:59 The third from Oxworks.
25:02 Just waiting for the judges scorecards.
25:11 It will be.
25:18 All in favor here of Lewis Chadwick.
25:21 I would assume we've seen Stranger Things.
25:27 But two ten eight rounds.
25:30 Four ten nine rounds for me.
25:33 I think Stevie Wonder could get that one right.
25:37 James O'Shea has the numbers.
25:44 We should make it official.
25:46 All right ladies and gentlemen.
25:48 We'll get set to make this one official.
25:51 This one brought to you with thanks to Ultratune.
25:54 Put your hands together for both fighters ladies and gentlemen.
25:58 Six rounds of action.
26:00 We go to the judges scorecards.
26:03 Judge John Watson scores the bout 59.
26:06 Defending champion is the winner.
26:08 And the judges scorecard.
26:10 Six rounds of action.
26:11 We go to the judges scorecards.
26:14 Judge John Watson scores the bout 59 to 53.
26:17 Judge Paul Williams scores the contest 60 to 52.
26:20 Judge Trent Van Galen scores the contest 60 to 52.
26:24 All to your winner by unanimous decision.
26:27 And it goes to the red corner.
26:29 Kid Lightning.
26:31 Lewis Chadwick.
26:35 [applause]
26:38 [laughter]
26:41 [chatter]
26:45 [chatter]
26:48 [BLANK_AUDIO]
