Did you know that Marina del Rey (means marina of the King in Spanish) is the largest man-created harbor for small craft in North America? Not only did George Strait name a song after this place, but numerous films and television shows have been filmed here as well. I recommend Marina del Rey for your upcoming travel plans and I can’t wait to get back there myself! For more Road Trips with Rach visit managedmoms.com

00:00 All right, our managed mom Rachel Harris is back with another road trip with Rach and this time she visited beautiful
00:06 Maria del Rey, California where I actually used to live when I moved to California to start my career a little bit
00:12 My friend had a place in Maria del Rey and so he let me stay there on his couch
00:16 Oh, man, I love Marina del Rey and it's kind of a hidden gem
00:20 Yeah
00:20 And it's so easy to get to from Phoenix six hour drive our flight and as you know
00:25 It's just 10 minutes away from LAX so you can fly in be there quickly, but you don't hear the noise of the airplane
00:33 You're just by the quiet Marina, you know, and it's exciting and it's also peaceful all in one, you know, you live there
00:39 Yeah, so it was way back. So I will do a little quick name-drop, but Suzanne Summers was our neighbor
00:46 Oh, yeah, and then the women's volleyball team would practice in front. So I was pretty much in heaven
00:53 I bet you were in heaven because this was a great trip with you because your daughter's over there. So and my son
00:59 Oh, that's right. Yeah, and my daughter-in-law
01:01 So I get to go anyway
01:02 So I decided to turn it into one of my road trip with Rach segments because it's cold right now and it's time to get
01:09 Away from that start, you know imagining where we're gonna go this year and it's so easy to get there and I brought you guys
01:15 Some cake we'll dive into this a little bit later
01:17 From Marina del Rey check it out says to my Arizona daily mix team Suzy's cakes all the celebs order these
01:25 Yeah, but I did way more than eat cake Brad. All right, what'd you do? Let's go. I went parasailing
01:30 Okay, that's what we're seeing a little bit. I'm not this have you ever been parasailing? I have oh you have yes and Marina del Rey
01:37 No, actually, this is like I down to the Hama somewhere. Okay. Well, let me tell you what I love about going
01:42 There is the water is calm peaceful. The crew is fantastic
01:46 We went on my daughter's 22nd birthday and it's called Marina del Rey parasailing. That is Simon getting me
01:54 Set up in my life jacket and harness and it's so beautiful just to go out on the boat
02:00 And then when it's time to launch you actually sit on the front of the boat Brad and then it pulls you up
02:06 But let me tell you it's very calm. You can even get a sense for my video
02:11 This is what it feels like and you guys are addressed. I thought you'd have to be a bathing suit
02:14 No, well, you can if you want because when they bring you down if you want you can dip your toes in the water
02:19 We did not do that
02:21 and I think next time I will just because if you do that you have to go out barefoot and I was afraid my toes
02:25 These would get cold
02:27 And it was a little bit chilly up there. But look how high we got
02:30 use of Santa Monica
02:33 Of course the beautiful Pacific Ocean you could see sea life in the water
02:38 And this crew is very experienced their u.s. Coast Guard licensed
02:43 Masters and I will tell you the only thing to know is once you're up there. There's really no communication with the boat
02:49 I suppose you could wave your arms, but we were 800 feet up Brad
02:53 So I don't know that they would see us look at that
02:56 You can see the distance from there, but I don't really think that matters
02:59 I just like to let people know because other than that it was just perfect from start to finish
03:03 You can only book there at the facility or by calling the number
03:07 I've got all that in my blog at managed moms calm
03:10 You can also rent a GoPro from them which we did and also add the photo package
03:16 So they took these gorgeous professional pictures of us. We had an absolute blast. I highly recommend it. I like that
03:23 I like that. All right. What about brunch cruising? Have you done that? I've not you know, that's thing
03:26 I just lived there and was kind of like trying to be a you know a star. So yeah brunch cruising
03:30 What's going on? They didn't take any time to have fun
03:32 Well, I did some other fun stuff, but not really getting out of the water
03:35 See and let's go to that video because I go to Marina del Rey all the time and I never go on the water
03:41 So this doing this report encouraged me to book some fun activities
03:46 So this is the brunch cruise and let me tell you we're gonna love about this Brad
03:50 bottomless mimosas
03:52 bottomless champagne and
03:55 Two hours the food was
03:58 decadent worth every calorie and
04:02 There's the front of the boat beautiful boat beautiful day
04:05 Look at the desserts lots to choose from just like the buffet which was very extensive with breakfast items and lunch
04:13 items and
04:15 Look at that
04:17 All the food groups and then in a minute you're gonna see my plate of food and I did not hold back
04:23 I ate it all Brad. It was so good and the boat has three levels
04:29 So you can go up to the top deck and our waiter was so intended attentive
04:33 He just came and kept filling our glasses because I say it's bottomless and it sure is
04:38 So I do recommend that as well. I love it. That's good. All right, so was there one more we're gonna
04:46 We also rented our own boat and you can do this through Marina del Rey boat rentals
04:52 So there's 14 types of boats you can rent. We did the Duffy electric boat. There's my son driving
04:58 We brought our own food our own drinks and it was a good value
05:02 Because it for a two-hour boat rental it was three hundred and four dollars up to twelve people
05:08 So if you split the cost that's pretty economical. Yeah, so we had a blast
05:12 I highly recommend doing that as well and later in the show
05:16 I'm gonna tell you where to wine dine unwind and more so stay with us
05:20 If you have not been over your del Rey in a while a lot has changed through their new stuff and everything
05:25 So, all right, we'll check it out. All right. All right. Thanks Brad. Thank you
05:28 All right, manage mom Rachel Harris earlier shared the first part of her trip to Marina del Rey, California
05:34 Now we're looking at the second part of this really cool trip that literally as we were saying it's what a five hour
05:40 Five hour and a half drive. Yeah about six hours
05:43 And only ten minutes from LAX. There you go, but yet it doesn't feel like you're close to the airport
05:49 So it's super easy to get there from here
05:52 So I say plan a trip to Marina del Rey this is the time to play and so did you go during the weekend during?
05:57 The weekday I've been both because you know, my kids live out there
06:00 So I have been a ton over the last four years lucky me
06:03 Yeah, this is Fisherman's Village built in
06:08 1967 you see all the yachts there. That's where you can go parasailing
06:12 That's where you can rent all types of water activity vehicles. Plus they have restaurants and shops and
06:20 Look at that lighthouse during the weekends. They have live
06:23 Entertainment and in fact, I did some shopping there and brought you a souvenir which I'll show you in a bit
06:29 And also that's where I got my sweatshirt that I'm wearing, but I do recommend
06:33 Fisherman's Village. Yeah. Now let's go to the next thing Brad because there is a very cool beach in Marina del Rey
06:41 It was there when you live there. Yeah, you know what it's called
06:43 The beach mother's beach. Oh, I don't know what that was called. I just went to the beach
06:47 You just went to the beach. Well, what's nice about Marina de Rey? It's close to the big beaches as well
06:52 But this is a small man-made one. There's my daughter
06:54 You can rent paddle boards and kayaks and it's got a playground and picnic tables very family-friendly
07:01 Hence the name mother's beach and there's not a tide so families really like it
07:06 But you know Marina del Rey is also close to Venice Beach, Santa Monica, Manhattan Beach
07:11 So you get the best of both worlds without having to battle the proper LA traffic
07:16 Well, I think a reason I didn't go to mother's beach because I had a beach right in front of me
07:19 There you go. I didn't know I'd go to some of those beaches. I wouldn't have either. All right, let's talk about
07:23 Where to wine and dine. Oh, that's the part you love. Oh, I do. Worth every calorie when I go to Marina del Rey
07:30 And this video is gonna make you hungry. This is my favorite restaurant called Brizo
07:34 It also happens to be in my favorite hotel, which is pretty new and that's the Marina del Rey Courtyard Marriott
07:41 Also a residence and I know you've got to order one of those Brad if you go to the main lobster roll
07:46 The pull apart rolls that is brunch cannot recommend Brizo enough now check this out
07:52 This is called dear Jane's and I heard about this place from Jamie Lee Curtis on Instagram
07:58 Yeah, great bar as you can see
08:00 Really cool decor inside sort of a throwback to the 60s and 70s
08:05 You got to get the bread check out the cute butter when Jamie Lee Curtis covered it on her Instagram sheet
08:11 There is the salad. She was showing the waiter making the table side
08:16 Salad, which is so delish. It is the chopped shrimp Louie for two. You gotta get it shrimp scampi get that as well
08:25 No, I gotta warn you. It is pricey. It is a special occasion place, but worth it
08:28 Hi, ho burgers right there on the marina
08:31 Definitely is gonna fit in your budget and the reason that place is so good is they use the hundred percent grass-fed wagyu
08:38 Beef which is supposed to be better
08:40 Okay. Also, this is a new find it's called mom. Please. It's Ukrainian food
08:45 So you've got the savory and the sweet dumplings
08:47 But I also really like the coffee and the almond croissants and that is right there on the border of Marina del Rey and Playa Vista
08:55 Pretty new locals love it. I recommend trying that as well. Oh my gosh. Hi
09:01 There's a pie place in Marina del Rey where you just get a slice of pie
09:05 That is a relatively new place called Winston pies and how about cake Brad Susie's cake?
09:10 Yeah, which we're gonna dive into after we get through my last video
09:13 Where to stay in Marina del Rey, so we talked about the courtyard Marriott, which was built just about two or three years ago
09:21 So it's brand new modern. That is a suite. I always say join the membership clubs
09:27 I joined Bonvoy
09:28 Which is the Marriott one and I stayed enough that if you get you know
09:32 If you they have a room available, you can get upgraded which I did at no extra cost
09:36 Look at that view from my balcony. Oh my goodness
09:40 I wake up in Marina del Rey in a good mood and the thing about this area as well
09:45 Is it tends to be 10 degrees cooler than the rest of LA?
09:49 This is also footage and the suite you get a living room and wait till you see the bedroom
09:55 which I'm going to show you in just a second as we pan over because you push a button and
09:59 The blinds all open up and you get this panoramic view of the marina
10:05 We're walking in there now and you'll see that this is a suite in the Marriott
10:09 Like I said just built a few years ago. Yeah, and that over there is the residence and connected by a common area
10:14 Right there. You can walk out the back and go walking down the marina. The employees are great
10:20 I really love this place and I have several others
10:22 But you can find those in my blog at managed moms calm and I brought you a souvenir. I know this is Bradley
10:28 Look at that. I got my Bradley surfboard souvenir there. Is that your name when you must behave?
10:33 It's well here a lot. They use a lot does Bradley in general. There you go. So Rachel. Thank you. You're awesome
10:39 We'll have cake later. Yeah, we were as an extra very quickly, you know, you know what?
10:42 I'm gonna hit the road again in Arizona. We're talking about the meteor crater in some other places next time. I'm here
10:48 I like it. There you go. All right. Hey find out what's coming up tomorrow on the show when we come back after this
10:54 You
10:56 You
10:58 You
