00:00 Chicago area get ready.
00:01 We are down to the final hours before
00:04 this winter storm hits this area and
00:06 it can produce several inches of snow.
00:09 For many preparations for this storm
00:11 started bright and early today.
00:12 Crews spent the morning filling up
00:15 snowplows with salt to begin pre
00:17 treating roads. Plow operators will
00:18 get busy because there's two rounds
00:21 of snow expected by Wednesday.
00:22 The first round will take place
00:24 overnight and cause slippery road
00:26 conditions for commuters on Tuesday.
00:28 Officials are urging people to take it
00:30 easy on the roads and stay home if you can.
00:33 For many people,
00:34 it will be the first time they've
00:36 driven in snow in several months.
00:38 Leave as much time as you can for your
00:41 commute 'cause a lot of times it will
00:43 definitely take you longer than you
00:45 anticipate on that's also going to
00:47 allow you to be able to go slower.
00:49 The motto is if you see snow go slow,
00:51 definitely want to go slow through it
00:53 because even though you can travel
00:55 through it, it's more important
00:57 that you be able to stop in it.
00:59 Another round of snow will impact
01:00 the Tuesday evening commute and
01:02 potentially even Wednesday morning.
01:03 Depending on where you live,
01:04 be sure to check the Accuweather app
01:06 for the latest on conditions in your
01:08 neighborhood and where you may be heading.
01:10 As well, reporting in Chicago for Accuweather,
01:13 I'm Emmy Victor.
