00:05 Joe Coy left the crowd and viewers at home pretty unamused after his stint as host of
00:10 this year's Golden Globe Awards. The first-time and relatively last-minute Globes host struggled
00:15 a bit during his performance, specifically during his opening monologue. Many of his jokes fell
00:20 flat with the Globes audience and even left a sour taste in some people's mouths.
00:25 "Big difference between the Golden Globes and the NFL. On the Golden Globes, we have fewer camera
00:31 shots of Taylor Swift. I swear. It was just more to go to." Viewers at home watching the telecast
00:37 also found many of Coy's jokes dated and sexist. "Oppenheimer is based on a 721-page Pulitzer
00:45 Prize-winning book about the Manhattan Project. And Barbie is on a plastic doll with big boobies."
00:53 Social media was also critical. One user wrote, "As a Filipino-American,
00:57 this Joe Coy monologue is like watching a car crash," while NPR's Eric Deggans diplomatically
01:03 wrote, "Joe Coy is a great comic, but I'm not sure he's used to working a showbiz crowd hosting
01:08 the Golden Globes. His monologue wasn't biting enough, but also was a little too biting in the
01:13 same moment." "Your last performance is gonna be your greatest performance ever.
01:18 How'd you get her pregnant at 80?" Coy has released five comedy specials across Comedy
01:25 Central and Netflix and recently wrapped his Funny is Funny World Tour. For more on this
