Sheridan as Michigan QB

UW tight-ends coach Nick Sheridan was a starting quarterback at Michigan.

00:00 Well speaking of players, I know you've played against Michigan several times, but you're

00:05 a former Wolverines quarterback.

00:07 Tell me about that.

00:08 I mean, that just, in a national championship game, you've got a job here where you're very

00:11 loyal, but that's your alma mater.

00:14 And so it's a weird situation for you in a way, not that your allegiances are pulled

00:17 anyway, but you're still in a kind of weird situation.

00:20 I don't see it that way.

00:21 I appreciate the question.

00:22 A lot of people have been asking me that.

00:24 You know, I have tremendous amount of respect for the University of Michigan and specifically

00:28 this team and this group of coaches.

00:31 There's lots of connections.

00:33 They've had a tremendous season.

00:36 But the game Monday night, you're focused on doing your job and helping the team that

00:40 you're a part of.

00:41 And you're thankful for the opportunity to compete and be a part of a team that's competing

00:48 for a championship.

00:49 And so my whole focus has been on helping our players and helping this staff in the

00:53 role that I have.

00:54 And you're just thankful that you get to compete.

00:59 These opportunities don't come around as often as you would hope or like.

01:02 And so you're just blessed and grateful to be in the position and looking to help the

01:06 people around you that you care so much about.

01:09 And you know, regardless of how long it lasted, you're in a small fraternity, a Michigan quarterback.

01:14 I mean, Harbaugh is one of those.

01:16 Different careers, Coach, than I had.

01:18 But yes.

01:19 But that's still like a badge of honor.

01:21 And I know you grew up in Michigan, so to go play for the big school and become a starter

01:25 for a while, that's an accomplishment.

01:28 I'm very, you know, my dream my whole life was to be a college football player.

01:32 And so obviously, as you get past that moment in your life, you have other dreams and goals.

01:38 But I was blessed.

01:39 Yeah, I'm thankful for my time there.

01:43 I have fond memories, fond relationships.

01:46 But like I said, the game this week is about the players on these teams and the competition

01:51 that will take place in the game.
