00:00 Oh, the legend.
00:02 She actually was my coach several times.
00:05 Oh, nice. I didn't know that.
00:07 She was in my wedding also. She said she was the hottest groomsman ever.
00:11 [Laughter]
00:13 That's awesome.
00:14 Hey, these guys are not small. This is an user weight limit of 200.
00:18 Both of them have really good size as well.
00:22 I'm excited to see what Rick Burrito brings to the table.
00:25 This is a really great guy to debut against, but I wouldn't blink.
00:30 No.
00:31 Carolina has already went the distance previously with two 3-0 fighters.
00:41 Comes out of the south hall, dabbing.
00:44 This guy has got a plan.
00:47 I love this. This really is a proven play, right? A proven debut.
00:53 I think you're exactly right.
00:55 You can already just tell the emotional control these guys have is at a higher level than just the shortness prior.
01:04 And that's just because you're seeing them try to control the weight.
01:08 It's just a level of confidence, right, Kuga?
01:11 Yeah, they're just both thinking with no nervous energy.
01:14 They're not spastic. They've had a lot of experience.
01:20 This is more like an air technique.
01:23 Right, for sure.
01:25 This is more what I'm used to.
01:27 And this is what you've been working with, to be slowing things down, trying to get out of that amateur style.
01:32 They're giving a lot of body fakes, trying to see what this guy's thinking,
01:38 getting a look into his mind without taking the risk.
01:42 They do seem like they're in range.
01:48 They're right at fight range. This is where you need to be.
01:51 You need to be stepping away.
01:53 The difference between the range before and the...
01:58 ...fire.
02:01 You need to step right at the line.
02:04 Carolina is standing there at the end of his reach.
02:11 He's manipulating that little half inch distance.
02:14 In and out.
02:15 Yep, yep. He's doing a good job with his feet.
02:18 He'll like three days of jabs.
02:20 He looks like he will.
02:21 He's a big kid, man.
02:23 He's 25.
02:24 He's 25.
02:25 It's time for him to get his own bearings.
02:28 I'm sorry, Bryce.
02:32 Another one-two there.
02:33 Back Carolina up just a little bit.
02:36 Good feints.
02:42 He's feinting and moving forward. I just like the combination of what he's doing right now.
02:47 See, I think you've got to have a lot of respect for Bredo's team here.
02:56 This is kind of more of a fight like Top Rank would put one of their prospects in right out of the gate.
03:02 Obviously, they're the gold standard.
03:04 Yep.
03:05 And they do that because they do want to move him kind of faster.
03:08 You mentioned, Eric, he's 26 years old, great amateur background.
03:12 If he looks good, it's only a matter of time before he escalates pretty quickly, right?
03:16 He's focused now.
03:17 You see, he sees something.
03:19 He's feeling more comfortable.
03:23 Ted's moving.
03:24 I love the feints.
03:26 Eric, I think you might need to cut seats up a little bit.
03:31 I don't think you're hearing him very good.
03:33 What's that?
03:34 I don't think you're hearing seats very well.
03:36 No, he's doing good. He's doing good.
03:38 For some reason, I don't think--
03:40 That's you.
03:43 It's all right. Can you hear me?
03:50 No, no, no. It sounds good.
03:52 I can hear you loud and clear now. Before, it was muted.
03:54 Okay.
03:55 Just a little bit. Look, I just thought he was intense and focused.
04:00 I was watching.
04:02 You're asking him a question and he just starts talking to me.
04:04 All right, Cheetah's just talking to him.
04:06 I'm sorry. No.
04:07 I was focused on the moment there.
04:10 I do apologize.
04:12 No, but it brings up a good point.
04:14 What did you see out of Brito and Carolina in the first round?
04:17 At the end of the round, Brito started finding his distance.
04:20 You could tell he got more comfortable.
04:23 Started throwing more punches and punches.
04:26 Landed a little bit more flush.
04:29 But it was a very competitive round.
04:31 And he's not excited to do it all at once.
04:33 Maybe he lost the round. I doubt it.
04:35 But it was a very competitive round.
04:37 I think he understands the thing that I teach my fighters.
04:41 It's class shows over time.
04:44 And so he's not in a hurry to do it all at once.
04:47 Absolutely.
04:48 Well, there seems to be a little bit of a bounce under that right eye there.
04:51 Do you see that?
04:52 Yeah.
04:53 Carolina there with a big shot by Brito there.
04:55 And Brito is not taking any chances.
04:58 There's a little left hook.
04:59 But it's holding him in damage.
05:00 This is something I love from a boxer.
05:02 Nice little hook.
05:04 He's got a big mouth.
05:06 Yeah, that's what I said.
05:07 And Brito's targeting it.
05:09 He hit it with the left hand.
05:10 That's the way to go.
05:12 Yeah, Brito's managing his wrist.
05:15 Yes.
05:16 That's what you see.
05:17 He's emotionless.
05:19 Step inside.
05:20 He's got a check hook.
05:23 And he absolutely has a target now.
05:26 And you can see that jab is going right after that right to the eye.
05:29 Nice.
05:30 You see, he didn't get too excited when he hit it.
05:33 That was, you know, he tried to go hard there.
05:35 But he's staying super calm, losing his pace.
05:39 No rush.
05:41 And staying defensively disciplined.
05:43 He slowed down the offense now.
05:46 Carolina.
05:51 There it is again, a jab right to that right mouth.
05:54 Right under that eye.
05:55 You can see him going right after that target.
06:01 I like this guy.
06:08 I like his management.
06:10 A guy like this in his day to day.
06:12 Absolutely.
06:13 He seems to be going right at him.
06:15 There it is again.
06:17 Carolina got a sneaky right hand in there.
06:19 But Brito's still moving forward.
06:24 Yeah, he's got a great team behind him.
06:26 Got it.
06:34 A little bit more movement.
06:36 Definitely standing right there.
06:39 First time he's going to reach, really.
06:40 Yeah.
06:45 He is getting extremely confident with that right hand, gentlemen.
06:49 Yeah.
06:50 But he's starting -- Carolina's starting to give him the distance now.
06:54 He's sitting his feet down as he's stepping in and just staying on his ground and taking the shots.
06:59 And not really offering anything in return.
07:02 No.
07:03 There's a right hand again.
07:07 The punishment is coming.
07:13 Carolina's got to start throwing punches.
07:15 He started off great with throwing that jab to the body and now it's just gone.
07:21 I can't believe you let me butcher that guy's last name like that earlier.
07:25 It's Carolina.
07:26 Carolina?
07:27 It's Carolina.
07:28 Okay, so he's butchering it.
07:29 Yeah, it's pronounced Carolina.
07:30 I say Carolina.
07:32 You got it right.
07:35 I'm going to ask him.
07:36 Throw him under the bus, too.
07:37 I'm going to ask him.
07:38 No, no, no.
07:39 It looks like it's spelled Carolina to me.
07:42 It is Raphael Carolina pronounced like the state is what I was told.
07:47 Okay, beautiful.
07:48 But really, the comment should be focused on Rick Brito right here because it seems like he's taking control of this fight.
07:56 I would score the fight a shutout right now for Brito.
08:00 Certainly, two to zero.
08:03 He's taking Carolina in deep water.
08:06 And I enjoy it.
08:09 When you talk about that amateur background and transferring that to a professional ring,
08:16 this is a fighter where you can see the amateur background, but it's mixed in with a guy that looks like he really knows how to fight.
08:26 This is no easy fight.
08:28 I mean, this guy just upset a 2-0 guy in his hometown.
08:31 Oh, absolutely.
08:33 Yeah, this is good.
08:36 [crowd noise]
08:39 Carolina looks like he wants to start this round a little more aggressive.
08:43 Yeah, he had a good talk in the corner.
08:45 I'm sure he's going to say, "Hey, man, you've got to start throwing punches if you want to win."
08:49 And just disrupting Brito's pattern because it seemed like Brito could just do whatever he wanted.
08:54 [crowd noise]
08:57 Uh-oh.
09:03 [crowd noise]
09:06 Brito's watching.
09:09 Brito is in the white, white satin shorts.
09:12 Carolina is in the black venom shorts, kind of laced with white here.
09:17 Makes me think he may also have an MMA background.
09:21 He does.
09:22 He does.
09:24 [crowd noise]
09:27 You just got to love the work, the positioning, the footwork,
09:32 the feints and the jabs coming out of Brito.
09:34 He leaned in a little bit that time.
09:36 I thought they were going to clash heads.
09:38 [crowd noise]
09:39 Hey, this is one of the more seasoned fighters in the card for sure.
09:43 [crowd noise]
09:46 Well, when we were doing the lineup for the fights,
09:56 I was tempted to put him further down the line just because of his experience.
10:02 [crowd noise]
10:04 And the experience is showing right now.
10:06 He's still coming in as a debut.
10:08 Yes, he's coming in as a debut.
10:09 His experience is showing.
10:11 His pedigree is showing.
10:14 And, you know, we've had a little mix of everything on the card.
10:17 We've had some bar environments that were probably more exciting for the casual fan
10:21 than this one for the more hardcore boxing fans.
10:23 We can appreciate the feints and the foot positioning and the accuracy.
10:27 And we can appreciate that big right hand that seemed to snuck in
10:30 and stunk some Carolina a little bit here.
10:32 But he didn't jump in and try to overwork it.
10:35 [crowd noise]
10:37 Brito keeps his eyes very wide open.
10:42 We lost Barry Sanders in the fight.
10:44 Yes, crazy, man.
10:45 He can see it all coming, can't he?
10:47 He's definitely ready.
10:49 He can even see what we're talking about.
10:51 [laughter]
10:53 And as we go into the later kind of seconds of this third round,
11:01 is there any point of either one of you gentlemen that would want to see him
11:05 kind of step on the gas a little bit or--
11:08 He's a six-round fight, correct?
11:10 Yes.
11:11 He's a six-rounder.
11:12 Yeah, I mean, I wouldn't change anything right now
11:15 because he's not absorbing any punishment.
11:18 I guess maybe we'll see how Carolina holds up under the consistent thrashing
11:24 that he's receiving.
11:27 I'd be happy with the decision, but maybe his team would.
11:30 The main thing I want is my prospect not to get hit.
11:33 Right, and he's showing a lot of discipline right now.
11:36 Look at that range he's keeping.
11:38 The whole time he leaned a little bit at that time,
11:41 but he was off center line when he did it.
11:44 That was nice.
11:45 He's good for a six-round fighter.
11:48 Another, I believe, another shutout round as we've completed three here
11:52 from Recrito, showing a lot of skill.
11:56 Really, I'm interested to see it again.
12:00 In a fight like this--
12:03 In a fight like this in a debut, do you step up and step on the power?
12:08 Let's take a look at this replay of some of the third-round action here.
12:13 You can see him--there it is, that just short right hand.
12:17 I would say the straight right hand's been the shot that we get in the most.
12:21 I would like to see him finish up on his weak side a little bit more with his hooks.
12:26 He is throwing that straight right, but he's rolling out a little bit, too.
12:31 He still could get caught.
12:33 Throws that left hook to finish up the more better defensive position.
12:38 For anyone who was confused, referee Bill Clancy was yelling at someone in the crowd
12:43 for using flash photography close to the ring, which is dangerous for the fighters.
12:47 Yeah, absolutely.
12:48 It was definitely not any illegal action in this fight.
12:51 This is very technical.
12:53 There does seem to be a tape issue on Carolina's glove right here.
12:57 [unintelligible]
12:59 [laughter]
13:06 There's multiple halls of fame for nothing.
13:09 Right.
13:10 He's showing his hall of fame, Freddie Green.
13:13 Seamless.
13:15 Green is still getting that jab in.
13:19 It does look--Eric, you mentioned it--it does look like now,
13:24 every once in a while, that right hand, it's a reach, right?
13:26 A little bit more out of distance than we'd like.
13:29 Carolina's doing a great job.
13:31 He's doing a good job with his feet right now, too.
13:34 He's getting a second wind.
13:36 There's another almost head collision, you can see.
13:40 Now, Brito circling to his left.
14:01 That may be fake, that jab underneath, Brito,
14:04 come over with the left hook.
14:06 He's got Carolina reaching down with his hands,
14:09 and he's using his elbow to be defensively responsible.
14:12 And it seems just a little bit that Carolina seems to be getting
14:18 a little bit more comfortable, doesn't it?
14:20 I think Brito's still getting a lot of control right now.
14:29 Carolina's definitely fighting for the spurs.
14:32 I think Carolina's probably tempered his expectations.
14:36 He's kind of stopped aiming at the head quite as much,
14:39 and he's hitting him more in the shoulder and in the chest.
14:41 He's had a lot more success with that.
14:43 Some quick right hand by Brito, and it'd be interesting to see
14:49 what it would look like if Brito really dedicated to the body, right?
14:52 That's one thing that doesn't seem to be as much in his arsenal right now.
14:56 Oh, that was actually beautiful.
14:59 That's a big overhand right.
15:01 That was close on the heads right now.
15:18 That's about the third time it's gotten close to the heads, too.
15:21 [crowd noise]
15:27 He doesn't want to sit down.
15:30 Brito's got to do a little bit more work.
15:32 This is a really close round.
15:35 This could definitely be a worse round.
15:42 Some action at the end of this round to get it through.
15:49 It doesn't go either way, the judges.
15:51 It's like that last shot you're calling.
15:54 You just never know what these judges are thinking.
15:57 That was the most competitive round we've had yet.
16:01 It did. It seemed as if...
16:04 While I don't know if Carolina's giving enough offense
16:09 to actually kind of win the rounds,
16:12 it did seem there was parts of that round
16:15 where it looked like he just got his bearing a little bit more,
16:18 a little bit more comfortable.
16:20 I still like the fact that it looks like Brito,
16:23 in regards to generalship,
16:25 it seems like Brito is really controlling the rounds.
16:28 Like I said, I think if Carolina wins the round,
16:30 it's what I call a mercy round.
16:32 But I do think that I like...
16:36 Like I said, he's tempered his expectations of hitting him in the head so much
16:40 and he's starting to stab him to the chest and the shoulder a little bit more
16:43 and not being as greedy.
16:45 I think that made for a far more competitive round.
16:48 Absolutely. And now we're going into the fifth of six.
16:51 I do want to ask you, gentlemen,
16:53 when you have a fighter like this making his debut,
16:56 you're in the fifth round now against a solid quality opponent,
17:00 do you just kind of keep it steady as a pace
17:03 or do you tell him you want to work on different things around him?
17:06 To me, the biggest thing is winning
17:09 and taking as little punishment as possible.
17:11 I wouldn't change a lot if I was Brito.
17:15 I would make sure I kept that jab sticking out there and be slightly more active.
17:18 But I certainly wouldn't force it.
17:20 Like I said earlier about this case,
17:23 the extra shots Briscoe took just to show some machismo earlier,
17:27 I would not look back on my fight.
17:29 Especially if you don't have a long career.
17:31 You know, your brain's just like a car engine,
17:34 you've got mileage racked up on it.
17:38 There'll be plenty of time when you fight a weak competition
17:41 to get punched in the head.
17:42 You don't have to do it when you're learning.
17:44 It's not as bad as when you're fighting.
17:46 And it looks like this round Brito's back into taking control.
17:51 Definitely stepping on the gas a little bit this round.
18:00 And ultimately took a right hand upstairs there.
18:07 [crowd cheering]
18:10 There's another right hand.
18:16 And now he's starting to whack Carolina a little bit.
18:19 And there's a cut on the left side of Carolina.
18:22 And Brito is moving forward.
18:24 Under composure, but moving forward and throwing more punches.
18:27 [crowd cheering]
18:30 Right hand level.
18:32 [crowd cheering]
18:36 [crowd cheering]
18:39 And he hit.
18:46 Carolina now walking backwards,
18:48 looking a little more tired than previous rounds.
18:51 And Brito cutting that discipline to the body right knee again.
18:55 Nothing really getting through there.
18:58 Still composed.
19:03 [crowd cheering]
19:06 Brito's dropping that left hand.
19:09 You see that go there?
19:11 He's got to stay disciplined right now.
19:17 These are two big guys, man.
19:22 Big guys showing some good stamina after five rounds here.
19:25 And there's Carolina.
19:26 Three guys like this, it only takes one.
19:29 [crowd cheering]
19:32 Oh, man.
19:35 There's an uppercut and a right hand.
19:37 And now Brito's putting some pressure on Carolina.
19:40 Five seconds left.
19:42 He really got through Carolina.
19:43 He's going to go into the sixth round like this.
19:45 Carolina a pro.
19:47 And what I mean by that, you could see it, Cujo.
19:49 Got hit with the right hand, got hit with the uppercut.
19:52 Carolina moves in and grabs a little bit, probably to save himself.
19:54 Yeah, he definitely smothered the onslaught.
19:56 That was a good move.
19:58 It was a great fight, man.
20:00 For a debut fight, sixth rounder, he did some good work.
20:03 That's a good fight.
20:05 Let's take a look at that action, especially if you can see.
20:09 I'm trying to see if this is before the cut or after the cut.
20:13 Oh.
20:14 That uppercut right there, that was the uppercut at the end of the round,
20:19 followed by the right hand.
20:21 And then, I'll tell you, it could have been the end,
20:24 but look at this veteran move.
20:25 He kind of gets in there and smothers those punches
20:28 and probably had him complete the round.
20:30 At that point, he's just survival mode, for sure.
20:33 I do think you'll probably see Brito come out this round
20:35 to test how much that hurt him.
20:37 Yeah.
20:38 And then, you know, maybe he'll back off.
20:40 It all depends on what the camp wants.
20:42 You know, some camps might be all about the knockout,
20:45 or some might be a little more conservative, like myself,
20:48 but I think he's going to test him early to see how hurt he still is.
20:53 And we're going into the sixth round.
20:55 And Denado wants to knock out him.
20:57 I'm sure he wants to finish him off.
20:59 Carolina now moving forward.
21:09 Maybe wanting to show that he's fully recovered.
21:13 That could feed right into what Brito needs as well.
21:17 Because he's been reaching for his hands.
21:19 And if he catches him coming in with that right hand,
21:22 that's exactly what you're talking about, Coach Aaron.
21:24 He's putting that left hook right behind him.
21:26 And he's backing up now.
21:29 Let's see if he pours it on.
21:31 He's got a lot of time left in this round.
21:33 He wants to pour it on, though. You can tell right now.
21:36 Brito's moving forward.
21:38 This is what I talk about, a silent agreement.
21:40 You can see Carolina is kind of submitting to the fans.
21:43 And he knows Brito's coming to finish him almost.
21:45 His body language is just--the life's been sucked out of him.
21:49 He could be playing possum and tricking all of us.
21:52 Brito's--his eyes are focused on him.
22:01 I think Carolina's certainly looking worse for a warrior here.
22:08 I don't believe he's playing possum.
22:10 He's taken a lot of punishment this fight. He really has.
22:13 And at the end of that last round, might have done it.
22:17 He's got a great veteran move, and there's the right hand again.
22:20 Carolina's not down a lot of offenses, just trying to defend.
22:25 Right. You can see those punches coming when you're just playing defense.
22:29 Knockouts usually have that transition.
22:33 It's making Brito a little more excited to throw more punches.
22:39 He knows nothing's coming back.
22:41 And he wants to finish. His corner is screaming in Italian for him to finish.
22:46 He's got about a minute to see if he can get it done in his debut, though.
22:50 So it's the southpaw.
22:57 One last push here. He is definitely looking to survive.
23:09 Nothing coming back from Carolina right now.
23:13 What I like seeing here now is the strength all the way to the end of this fight.
23:19 Look at the work that Brito's putting on him.
23:23 He's stopping him and tying him up as bad.
23:25 He's stepping around. There was a hook there.
23:32 He's got ten seconds left in this fight.
23:37 Really good fight. Really good debut competition.
23:41 Really good fight.
23:43 Good matchup, for sure.
23:45 And there you have it, ladies and gentlemen.
23:56 Richmond, Virginia. You just got to witness a little bit of history.
24:01 And we say by that, we witness the debut of David Brito, Brick Brito, in the ring.
24:08 Gentlemen, I probably got it a shutout here.
24:11 I'd be surprised if you might have given him one round.
24:14 Maybe he got that mercy round.
24:16 Let's take a look at these replays here.
24:23 Six-round fight. And again, three-time Italian amateur champion, Brick Brito.
24:31 That was a tough fight, man. Carolina's a tough kid, man.
24:35 He took some punishment in that fight.
24:38 He's probably outclassed in this matchup.
24:42 It was probably after the second round we saw that mount under the right eye.
24:46 And then there was a cut later in the fight as well.
24:49 Definitely, Carolina, you're going to tell him tomorrow morning that he was in a fight.
24:57 Oh yeah, he might be wearing sunglasses.
24:59 Like Coach Prom.
25:05 Yeah, that's right.
25:06 A lot of sunglasses going around, gentlemen. A lot of sunglasses going around.
25:11 But now, we talked about this as well.
25:17 And I usually ask after the fight, as I've done the previous fights tonight,
25:23 Debut, strong pedigree, looked very good here, looked very comfortable in his weight, big guy.
25:31 What do you do next for a Brick Brito?
25:34 How do you move him along?
25:36 Because clearly the pedigree allows him to fast track a bit, right?
25:40 Yeah, I mean I'd probably keep him in the six-rounder, maybe get him against a guy that's like 5-3 or 5-4.
25:46 A guy with a little more experience, but maybe a guy that he could stop.
25:49 And then I'd probably immediately move him to the eight-round level after that if he checks all the boxes in that fight.
25:55 Stamina does not seem to be an issue with Brito either.
25:58 No, no.
25:59 He understands pacing.
26:00 Yes, absolutely.
26:02 Now, here's a question. This might be a question out of vanity alone.
26:08 But at 26 years old, again, big guy, everybody has different body types.
26:14 We just talked about a couple previous fights where they looked like Adonis is sculpted out.
26:20 Brito looks like he has some room there whether to either sculpt up or get bigger.
26:26 Right? At 26 years old.
26:28 Yeah, I mean he's, you know, he cuts the weight to get down to cruiser on this.
26:34 I think he's going to grow into it.
26:37 Absolutely.
26:38 One hundred percent.
26:39 Eighteen minutes later, plus one hug from you to your respect.
26:44 Ladies and gentlemen, all three judges have the score of 16-24 for your winner, Mr. David "Brit" Brito.
26:56 And there we have it. Brit Brito wins his debut.
27:00 Let's take it to the ring.
27:01 Let's see if we can get an interview here with our good friend.
27:07 I want to call him Yoda, but it's Dustin.
