00:00 Hey Browns fans coming to you
00:12 live from Berea with our final
00:14 practice report of both the
00:16 week and the regular season of
00:18 course the Browns wrap up the
00:19 twenty twenty three regular
00:21 season this weekend in
00:22 Cincinnati against their in
00:24 state rival the Bengals Spencer
00:25 German with you as part of our
00:27 Browns digest coverage and we're
00:29 happy to give you the latest
00:30 from Berea including. If you
00:33 were hoping the Browns are
00:34 going to make it through the
00:35 rest the regular season and in
00:36 the playoffs unscathed on the
00:39 injury from without any more of
00:40 these injured reserve
00:42 designations unfortunately
00:44 today was not the day for you
00:46 are grounds did announce about
00:49 a an hour ago that Anthony
00:51 Walker junior veteran
00:52 linebacker who's a captain on
00:55 this team is headed to the IR
00:57 to join some of his his
00:58 comrades teammates that have
00:59 also been placed with that
01:00 designation this season it is
01:02 another tough blow on one hand
01:04 the Browns have been playing
01:05 the last three weeks without
01:07 him he's he injured his knee
01:09 sort of mysteriously on a
01:11 Thursday at practice before
01:12 that Bears game back in week
01:14 fifteen and he's missed the
01:15 three games since he did have a
01:17 knee scope the week after that
01:18 leading up to the Houston game
01:19 on Christmas Eve so where
01:21 things stand with him is that
01:23 he's now headed to the IR
01:25 ending his regular season he
01:26 would not be able to return
01:27 for at least four weeks which
01:29 in kind of a bit of poetic
01:32 with a bit of poetic is to it
01:34 if he were to be able to make
01:36 it a return at some point in
01:38 the in this campaign it would
01:40 be in the Super Bowl so if the
01:42 Browns are able to make a run
01:43 here if they're able to do
01:44 something to continue the magic
01:46 that we've seen sort of down
01:47 the stretch with Joe Flacco and
01:48 all this the great defense that
01:49 they have maybe just maybe
01:51 you'll see Anthony Walker again
01:52 but obviously that's gonna be a
01:54 ways off now that he heads to
01:55 the IR along the way
01:57 along the lines of the injured
01:58 on the injury front with him
02:00 going to the IR he's obviously
02:01 not playing this weekend but
02:03 there are a number of other
02:03 players who will not play this
02:04 weekend as well with injuries
02:06 Murray Cooper with that that
02:07 heel injury Greg Newsome has
02:09 been ruled out this weekend one
02:11 Thornhill popped up on the
02:13 injury report today with another
02:15 calf issue did not practice
02:18 those are kind of plagued him
02:19 all season long Kevin
02:20 Stefanski was pretty clear that
02:22 he wouldn't classify it as a
02:24 re aggravation of the calf
02:25 injury he was doing prior but
02:27 still notable that they will be
02:29 without one of their starting
02:30 safeties yet again and one
02:31 Thornhill granted they've had
02:32 some nice Philly do has some
02:34 guys feeling nicely and Ronnie
02:36 Hickman and of course the
02:37 Anthony Bell so maybe they can
02:39 kind of keep that that up this
02:40 weekend and get some rush for
02:41 those guys as they turn the
02:42 corner to the playoffs also out
02:44 Mike Ford junior reserve
02:46 cornerback for the the Browns
02:48 and kicker Dustin Hopkins has
02:50 been ruled out yet again so it
02:52 will be more Riley Patterson
02:53 this weekend for your Cleveland
02:55 Browns questionable status for
02:58 Sunday include Corey Bajorquez
03:00 so your punter chance for him
03:02 to return to action Marquis
03:03 Gowin linebacker Jordan
03:05 Kanashick and of course Elijah
03:07 Moore that was notable because
03:09 without a Mark Cooper he would
03:11 be the next in line as he did on
03:12 that Thursday night game against
03:14 the Jets to kind of take the
03:15 bulk of the top wide receiver
03:17 reps and it would be nice to
03:18 have him out there for this
03:20 offense that's certainly going
03:21 to be shorthanded as they look
03:22 to win their twelfth game of the
03:23 season but we know what's at
03:25 stake in this game relatively
03:27 nothing for the Browns as they
03:28 get ready for the postseason
03:29 they're locked into that five
03:30 seed it's going to be about more
03:32 this weekend paying attention to
03:35 games that don't involve the
03:37 Browns than it is the game that
03:38 actually involves the Browns for
03:39 the sole fact that we're kind of
03:41 waiting to see who the Browns
03:43 will play in the opening round
03:45 of the playoffs in that wildcard
03:46 weekend right now that started
03:48 today would be the Jaguars they
03:50 have a big match Titans if they
03:51 win that game they stay in the
03:53 four spot that would be the
03:54 Browns first round matchup but
03:55 Saturday tomorrow we get that
03:57 big Colts Texans matchup which
04:00 would basically decide who the
04:02 other team that the Browns have
04:03 a chance to play would be should
04:05 the Jaguars lose their game on
04:07 Sunday so those are the big ones
04:08 to pay attention to and because
04:09 the Browns have nothing to play
04:10 for and in their world or in
04:13 their realm of things being
04:14 locked in five seed like they
04:15 are that means we know as it's
04:18 been talked about all week
04:19 they're going to be sitting some
04:20 players one player Kevin
04:21 Sabanese he gave us one he
04:23 leveled with us a little bit
04:24 today on Friday he named miles
04:26 Garrett as a player who will not
04:27 suit up for Sunday so you can
04:30 cross him off your list you
04:31 won't see miles out there if he
04:33 is to win defensive player of
04:34 the year his case has already
04:36 been made what he's already
04:37 produced is what it's going to
04:38 be for him to try to win that
04:40 award but really probably the
04:42 right decision on behalf of
04:44 Kevin Stefanski to put your the
04:45 MVP of the team by all accounts
04:47 and put him in bubble wrap he
04:49 also did not practice on Friday
04:51 he was dealing with some
04:51 soreness is how Kevin
04:53 Stefanski classified that one so
04:55 no miles Garrett we know from
04:57 earlier in the week with naming
04:58 that Jeff Jeff Driscoll will
05:01 start at quarterback and so
05:02 likely Joe Flacco doesn't see
05:04 any action is addressed for this
05:05 game unless they really have him
05:06 just kind of like that third
05:07 string reserve role but
05:09 otherwise it sounds like that's
05:10 another player you're not
05:11 getting to you won't you will
05:13 not see on Sunday Flacco miles
05:15 for sure we'll see what else
05:16 comes on Sunday in terms of
05:18 guys that don't start that are
05:20 maybe healthy scratches you
05:21 could deem them and we'll kind
05:22 of go from there another quick
05:24 note on a positive injury front
05:26 over Oak walk well who was
05:27 practiced throughout this week
05:29 coming back from the pack
05:30 injury that was considered
05:32 potentially sees an ending at a
05:34 point now he's worked his way
05:36 back and has a chance to play
05:37 spoke with him as locker today
05:39 and he mentioned that he's
05:41 hopeful but he's got to kind of
05:43 see how it goes over the next
05:44 couple days so kind of a
05:45 waiting game with him but at the
05:46 very least it's it's a sign that
05:48 he should be ready to go and
05:49 suit up for the Browns come
05:50 playoff time and that's
05:52 obviously encouraging you lose
05:53 Anthony Walker but you got
05:54 somebody in a book won't go at
05:56 the defensive end spot coming
05:57 back potential that grant
05:59 Delpert could come back next
06:00 week as well as he's been on the
06:02 eye are the last few weeks and
06:04 so there's there's some some
06:05 shit there's an opportunity here
06:06 for the defense to actually get
06:07 better back to full strength or
06:09 closer to full strength before
06:11 the playoffs actually begin one
06:12 note for the bangles side of
06:13 things T Higgins there's number
06:15 two wide receiver there he is
06:17 doubtful for Sunday so unlikely
06:18 I would assume that we will see
06:20 him play for Cincinnati one last
06:22 thing because I hit on this
06:23 yesterday with you guys and I
06:25 want to come back to it because
06:27 Jim Schwartz addressed you know
06:29 the situation involving how
06:31 great he's been this year with
06:32 his Browns defense and turning
06:34 them around the effort that he's
06:35 given and that yeah he's human
06:37 he does hope that he could
06:39 pursue the highest position in
06:42 this game that you could be as a
06:43 coach and that's a head coach of
06:44 a team and if something came
06:46 along this offseason he would
06:47 consider it despite the fact
06:48 that he was beating Cleveland we
06:49 played that clip for you
06:50 yesterday well today Kevin
06:52 Stefanski was asked about the
06:53 idea that he could in theory
06:55 lose his defensive coordinator
06:58 and what that would mean he
07:00 raved about Schwartz first but
07:02 also provided some context into
07:04 how he would handle that
07:05 situation if it were to happen
07:07 for for Jim Schwartz coach has
07:09 done a great job you know really
07:12 from day one with him to now
07:14 he's done everything that I've
07:16 asked of him he's been a great
07:19 confidant for me somebody I can
07:20 walk in and talk to and bounce a
07:22 lot of things off of him just
07:23 with his history you know he's
07:25 been a head coach he's been a
07:26 coordinator he's won Super Bowl
07:27 so he's just been invaluable to
07:30 me and then obviously you look
07:31 at our defense the way we've
07:32 played that's that's a big part
07:34 of Jim and this coaching staff I
07:36 think those guys have done a
07:37 great job but Jim's right there
07:39 leading the way and you know
07:40 it's been so impressive but I'm
07:42 excited I just get to work with
07:43 him every day I mean that's part
07:45 of the NFL you have success and
07:48 then you may lose coaches but in
07:50 a lot of ways that's a great
07:51 thing for that coach and for an
07:53 organization you know I really
07:55 like a lot of our coach I like
07:56 all of our coaches so they're
07:58 doing a great job but when it
08:00 comes to those opportunities if
08:01 that's something that comes
08:02 about I'll be excited for any of
08:04 our coaches.
08:05 As you'd expect from Kevin
08:08 Stefanski he's rooting for his
08:10 guys to get jobs and do other
08:12 things have success even if it's
08:13 not with him but the fact that
08:15 he raved about just the work
08:17 he's done and being able to have
08:18 him here and really just the
08:19 decision to make a change of
08:21 defensive coordinator speaks a
08:22 lot to Kevin Stefanski his
08:24 ability and efforts to turn this
08:25 team around turn that defense
08:27 around from a season ago and
08:28 that has obviously been the case
08:29 if this team is going to make a
08:31 run at a championship at a
08:33 Super Bowl here in the coming
08:34 weeks it's going to be because
08:36 Jim Schwartz has shaped the
08:37 identity of that unit he shaped
08:39 the culture of this franchise
08:40 and this team and his presence
08:42 will be felt whether he's here
08:43 next year or not but it's not
08:44 something we have to worry about
08:45 right now for Brett for Browns
08:47 fans that's something that's
08:48 coming maybe down the pike here
08:49 in the next couple weeks if the
08:50 interviews for jobs or whatnot
08:52 but in the meantime Browns are
08:53 focused on wrapping up the
08:54 regular season finishing strong
08:56 if they get a 12 win on Sunday
08:58 would be just the second time
09:01 that they finish with 12 wins
09:03 since being a since 1986 you
09:06 have to go back to 1986 the year
09:08 that season ended in the
09:10 playoffs in the AFC
09:11 championship game against the
09:12 Denver Broncos and John Owey in
09:13 the drive to find the last time
09:15 the Browns finished with 12
09:16 wins in the sea so there is a
09:17 little bit of something to play
09:19 for we know Kevin Spanky has
09:20 said that they're going to come
09:21 out and try to finish the
09:22 season strong see if they get
09:23 the job done but the playoffs
09:25 obviously on the horizon waiting
09:27 one week after this one so
09:29 appreciate you guys jumping on
09:30 it as always you can follow
