Transcript
00:00 The news is that the US Foreign Ministry's translator asked questions in a column in the British newspaper.
00:06 The US Foreign Ministry has declared the former Prime Minister's allegations baseless.
00:10 When the US was not given military bases, the US was questioned about the allegations of being angry.
00:15 The translator said, "There is no such thing."
00:17 Matthew Miller further said that he wants to see clear and transparent elections in Pakistan.
00:23 This article of former Prime Minister Imran Khan once again came up with the accusation
00:28 United States wanted to establish military bases in Pakistan which he refused.
00:33 That's another reason US government was angry.
00:36 I will just say as we have said before, the former Prime Minister's accusations are baseless.
00:41 And I think I'll leave it at that.
00:43 The Election Commission of Pakistan has rejected the nomination papers of former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
00:48 How do you assess the situation when you call for free and fair elections?
00:51 I would say that Pakistan's future leadership is for the Pakistani people to decide.
00:55 Our interest, as you've heard me say before, is in the democratic process.
00:59 The former Prime Minister in jail were members of his party who are filing to run for office.
01:04 And they're being arrested and abducted at the filing office.
01:09 They're also arresting the "approvers", people who signed their petitions as well.
01:14 So you're not going to have any candidates for the people to choose from.
01:17 So how can Pakistani people choose their government?
01:20 I will say, without commenting on the specific matters, we want to see free and fair elections that are conducted in accordance with Pakistan's laws.
01:30 It's not for the United States to dictate to Pakistan how it conducts, the exact specifics of how it conducts its election.
01:39 But to make clear that we want to see those elections conducted in a free, fair and peaceful manner that includes freedom of expression,
01:46 peaceful assembly and association, and ultimately a full, open, reliable, vibrant democratic process.
01:53 Let's talk to our representative from Washington, Jahanzaib Ali Jahanzaib.
01:58 What did you have to say about the US Foreign Ministry?
02:01 There have been many questions about the situation in Pakistan.
02:08 I asked the first question, how does the US view the amendments to the Pakistan Charter of Justice and the former Prime Minister's Charter?
02:18 In response, the US Foreign Minister, Matthew Miller, said that the decision of the future leadership of Pakistan should be made by the Pakistani people.
02:26 And he said that we have always made it clear that the Pakistani people should choose their own government.
02:33 We are interested in the democratic process of Pakistan. We want to see free and fair elections in Pakistan.
02:40 And we want the elections in Pakistan to be conducted in accordance with Pakistan's laws.
02:44 He made it clear that the US does not support any candidate or party anywhere in Pakistan or anywhere in the world.
02:51 He also asked how the US views the video evidence of the arrest of candidates for the nomination papers in Pakistan.
03:08 Matthew Miller said that the US cannot tell Pakistan how they will conduct the elections.
03:16 But the US wants elections to be fair and transparent in Pakistan.
03:21 People should have the right to vote.
03:27 And the US wants to see all this.
03:30 I also asked a question, a new article has been written by the Chairman of the Justice and Justice Committee,
03:36 which has been criticized by the US.
03:47 I asked him what he would say about this.
03:50 He said that these are not new allegations.
03:53 He said that he would correct all the allegations of the Chairman of the Justice Committee.
03:58 All these allegations are baseless.
04:00 And I will not talk about it any more.
04:03 Thank you very much, Mr. Jahanzaib.
