00:00 The storms don't just stop this weekend.
00:02 We have another storm coming
00:03 across the country next week,
00:05 Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday,
00:06 and this one looks bigger
00:07 and better than the first one.
00:09 Let's get into the nitty gritty details here.
00:11 This storm is going to spread from
00:13 the Rockies all the way to the
00:15 Midwest in the eastern seaboard.
00:17 To the north,
00:18 we have the potential for not just
00:20 some thumping snow in the Midwest
00:21 and Great Lakes, but hey,
00:23 I'm going to say it.
00:24 We could see a blizzard out of this thing.
00:26 To the South,
00:27 we've got severe weather returning
00:28 and we've issued a risk pretty far
00:30 in advance and want to make sure.
00:32 That you guys are staying weather aware
00:33 as we head into this coming week.
00:35 It all starts out here into the Pacific Ocean.
00:37 You can see this big swirl here
00:39 up by the Aleutian Islands.
00:40 Well, that's going to help
00:41 drive some energy onshore,
00:43 which isn't abnormal as we look to this
00:45 time of year across the West Coast,
00:47 but it's this piece of energy that's
00:48 going to come out across the plains.
00:50 Do a little dip dive out toward Texas
00:52 and by Monday looks a little something
00:54 like this 'cause at this point
00:55 it's not just the energy.
00:57 It's not just the moisture,
00:58 but it's the addition of more warmth
01:00 and moisture from the Gulf helping
01:02 to fuel things within this storm.
01:03 Let's talk about what happens
01:05 to the north first.
01:06 Will go to a taste of winter here
01:08 where we're looking from Garden City
01:10 to Kansas City, Des Moines,
01:11 all the way to Chicago,
01:12 even out to Green Bay Monday,
01:14 Tuesday and even early early
01:15 morning on Wednesday.
01:16 Some thumping snow and gusty winds
01:18 accompanying this storm where
01:19 it's really powerful as well.
01:20 Now, why are we talking about
01:22 the potential for a blizzard?
01:24 Remember, a blizzard is not a run
01:26 in the middle snowstorm.
01:27 Very different.
01:28 You have very specific criteria.
01:31 For a blizzard,
01:32 not only do you need falling
01:33 or blowing snow,
01:33 but you also need winds to get up
01:35 to 35 miles per hour or more.
01:37 Visibility has to drop to a quarter
01:38 mile or less and all of that has
01:40 to happen for three hours or longer.
01:42 Asked a lot of criteria to meet
01:43 and the fact that we're dealing
01:45 with that as we head through Monday
01:46 and Tuesday is a pretty big deal.
01:48 Just make sure you're getting
01:49 prepared ahead of time.
01:50 I can say the same thing for severe
01:52 weather back to the South here.
01:54 Is it widespread severe weather outbreaks?
01:55 No, it's some severe weather,
01:57 but severe weather, severe weather.
01:58 We're not going to mess around right
02:00 as we look from Houston to New Orleans,
02:01 Jackson back toward Montgomery all
02:03 the way down to Mobile, Pensacola.
02:05 And as you're heading across I-10,
02:06 we could see flooding downpours,
02:08 damaging gusty winds and an
02:09 isolated tornado or two.
02:10 Not out of the question.
02:12 We keep that whole thing rolling
02:13 back across Florida and into the
02:15 Carolina coastline in the Georgia
02:16 coastline by the time we get through
02:18 Tuesday and Tuesday night from Fayetteville
02:19 down toward Jacksonville.
02:21 And even as you're heading across
02:21 the Big Bend toward Appalachicola,
02:23 I want to mention one more thing here.
02:25 Into the Northeast we are concerned
02:27 about some flooding rainfall,
02:28 but it's not just the rain.
02:30 It's the fact that this weekend we
02:32 have the storm putting down some snow.
02:34 It's already on a rainy saturated
02:36 area and then more rain on top of
02:39 all the previous rain and the snow.
02:41 That's a lot of water all at once.
02:43 That could lead to some more
02:44 flooding here as we get through.
02:46 Really,
02:46 your Tuesday and Wednesday
02:47 across the Northeast.
02:48 Please make sure you're staying
02:50 weather aware and of course will be
02:51 here to guide you through the storms.
02:53 Thank you.
