00:00 Dan Levy, best known for his comedic role in Schitt's Creek, recently debuted his feature
00:04 directorial Good Grief. The star spoke to What's Trending on how he hopes this film
00:07 will help many cope with their own grief.
00:09 Do I look older to you? I feel like I've aged a lot.
00:15 No.
00:15 Yes, your husband just died. You're allowed. My God.
00:18 Dan Levy recently starred alongside Kristen Stewart in Happy Season and has even won
00:23 awards for his time on Schitt's Creek. Now the actor took on an emotional drama as his
00:27 directorial feature alongside Luke Evans, Ruth Nega, and Himesh Patel that pulls on
00:32 the heartstrings of many. It's Anil Wani reporting.
00:35 I wanted to thank you both for this year. I would like to take us to Paris for the weekend.
00:40 We all deserve some joy.
00:42 Yes, thank you. Where are we staying?
00:45 After the sudden loss of his husband and grieving through the support of friends,
00:48 Dan Levy's character Mark finds his world falling apart while soul-searching on a trip to Paris.
00:53 Alongside his two friends, Levy's character is faced with some difficult decisions
00:57 and newfound truths about his former husband.
00:59 Oliver met someone else.
01:01 I'm sorry you're having to deal with that, but I'm allowed to feel things too.
01:07 My husband officially died a year ago today.
01:10 Such a meticulous person. He left behind one hell of a mess.
01:14 Speaking to What's Trending, Levy expressed how he truly wishes the film
01:18 will hopefully help people cope with any grief they're experiencing in life.
01:21 I think a lot of people can feel like grief is a very isolating experience,
01:25 and I think what I was trying to say with the film was that there can be comfort in grief,
01:31 in that everyone is grieving something all around us, and there's community in it
01:36 if you open yourself up and you choose to kind of let that light in or that comfort in.
01:41 Now, this is the first time that viewers are seeing Levy in a more serious role.
01:44 As of late, Levy's signed a deal with Netflix to produce both movies and
01:47 television shows for the stream giant. The star knew it was a risk coming off of
01:50 comedy series and comedy movies to star in something like this,
01:54 but he knows the movie will resonate with audiences everywhere.
01:57 I hope that people feel comforted by the movie. I hope that they see parts of themselves or their
02:02 friends reflected in the film, and that if they are going through a grief of some kind, that they
02:07 feel like someone else is paying attention and sees them. So that's the hope.
