We asked people are you sad to see the Forty Foot pub Closed in Sheffield
Transcript
00:00 As you'll see behind me, the 40 foot pub on Wordsworth Road is currently closed.
00:08 The doors and the windows are currently boarded up and it's understood that it's been closed since Boxing Day.
00:19 The pub has traditionally been popular amongst Sheffield Wednesday fans on match days, we understand.
00:26 We don't know at this stage what the plans are for the future of the site and the building.
00:31 We've spoken to some locals to ask what their views are of the pub.
00:37 I gather the 40 foot here on Herries Road has closed. What's your reaction guys?
00:46 It's going to be disappointing for them at match days.
00:50 We're the local first point meeting for all fans. This is the pub where you go for Boxing Day.
00:57 This is where it all starts. It's all this area, all Parsons Cross.
01:02 Everyone knows where they live.
01:04 Everybody, it just gets packed. This road, you can't see one bit of this road because of what's parked on it.
01:10 Even grass, all grass and everything is parked up. All the way up to Hykensee. All the way down that road everywhere.
01:18 Is it a pub that you like?
01:20 I used to go in on odd days, but it's a local pub. You know for old people and that, and night time.
01:27 I can't agree that one bar.
01:29 So obviously, with locals and that, it's a certain type of customer on a night time.
01:35 We usually match days and that when it got busy on it.
01:38 I go in all the evening.
01:40 All evening is a big match thing for us.
01:43 Do you hope it reopens, both of you?
01:46 It will open. I know the landlord before. All it is, he's moved abroad. He's moved on.
01:53 He's gone to better himself. Good luck to the guy.
01:56 But you hope it opens again?
01:58 Yeah, I used to do his work. I used to do all this, picking up bits of reed out on that side of the wall.
02:04 Do you know what I mean?
02:06 I used to do it. I used to do reed out, glass ending that front end.
02:09 So yeah, it's going to be missed. Good luck. Good family. Nice family.
