00:00 The Sunshine Coast is certainly now living up to its name after really intense 48 hours
00:07 of some really big rainfall totals.
00:10 Even overnight here on the Sunshine Coast, the rain continued to fall.
00:14 We had around 113 millimetres fall and that brought our 48-hour rainfall totals to around
00:21 240 millimetres, with more than 100 millimetres also falling in and around Noosa and the Sunshine
00:27 Coast hinterland around the same time frame.
00:30 But thankfully, conditions are much improved today.
00:34 Yesterday, with all that rainfall, we did see a lot of localised flash flooding, road
00:39 closures, the water police were out assisting drivers who were caught up in the deluge and
00:44 cars were inundated.
00:46 The SES had a busy day, almost 70 calls for help, mostly for leaking roofs and trees that
00:52 had fallen that needed to be removed.
00:55 But I've spoken this morning with the local disaster management group who've been keeping
00:59 a really close eye on this situation and they say that the threat to the region has eased
01:05 and conditions are definitely improved.
01:08 Today's forecast is just for 6 millimetres of rain with the potential for storms.
01:13 And locals here certainly making the most of the eased conditions after being cooped
01:19 up inside for the better part of two days.
