00:00 "Are you sure?"
00:00 "Easiest decision of my life."
00:04 Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the top 10
00:08 underrated sitcom couples.
00:10 "I love you too."
00:11 "You do?"
00:13 "Yeah! How great is this?"
00:16 For this list, we'll be looking at the most underappreciated romantic pairings
00:20 from some of our favorite situation comedies.
00:23 Which TV duos are your couple goals? Share your favorites in the comments.
00:29 Number 10. Lois and Hal. Malcolm in the Middle.
00:33 "You think we're gonna be good parents?"
00:34 "You're kidding? The best!"
00:35 "You think it's gonna change our relationship?"
00:37 "Our what? No. No!"
00:40 The eponymous middle child may be the star of the show, but this beloved sitcom wouldn't be
00:44 the same without the underrated team of Hal and Lois. Before he shot to major stardom in Breaking
00:50 Bad, Bryan Cranston stole our hearts as the central family's hapless but loving father.
00:56 Jane Kaczmarek played Lois, matriarch and bad cop to Hal's good cop.
01:01 It's definitely a case of opposites attract, but this duo's marriage is built to last.
01:06 "Hal, if I got rid of everything that made you hot and bothered,
01:09 I'd be running around with a handkerchief and a baseball cap! Stop it!"
01:14 They don't have much money, and the boys are basically out of control.
01:17 But there's a lot of love in that household, and the parents are at the root of it.
01:21 They always have each other's back, and after many years of chaos,
01:25 they're still passionate about each other.
01:27 "I love your loyalty and your kindness, and that you still suck in your gut whenever I walk into
01:34 the room!" "I love how you didn't dump me when you found out that I was in love with you!"
01:38 Number 9. Cam and Mitch - Modern Family
01:43 Of the three central couples in Modern Family, Cameron and Mitchell don't always have the easiest
01:48 time. Perhaps that's why they get overlooked. "Listen, I know I can be touchy about this,
01:56 but you're this amazing looking guy and-" "I am not amazing, really?"
02:03 Mitchell finds Cam embarrassing and oversensitive at times. Cameron thinks Mitch is a little
02:09 repressed. So why are they on this list? Sitcom couples are often painted in broad strokes,
02:14 but Cam and Mitch are less cookie cutter. They love each other, but making each other happy
02:19 doesn't always come naturally. They work at it. "Oh, I just, Cam, I just feel like our
02:24 relationship's strong enough to survive a little candor. I mean, look, you could tell me if there's
02:28 something about me you'd like to change." "I hate your beard."
02:30 "Wow. Well, you had that bolt in the chamber." Modern Family has its failings when it comes
02:36 to representation, but where it succeeds is making these two characters into fully
02:41 rounded human beings. They're not reduced to being stereotypes. They're two very different
02:46 people in a relationship that isn't always perfect, but is always worth rooting for.
02:51 "You should know that every day I wake up, very grateful to have you in my life. I'm the one who
02:56 got lucky, handsome. Maybe I just don't show it enough." Number eight, Mike and Allison, Ghosts.
03:03 "It's 100% the most incredible moment of my life, apart from my wedding."
03:09 "It's all ours." "What did that girl just say?"
03:12 The hit BBC comedy Ghosts follows a young married couple who relocate to a haunted
03:17 manor house after they're left an unexpected legacy. Although Allison and Mike are regularly
03:22 upstaged by their ghostly house guests, they've become one of our favorite TV pairings of recent
03:28 years. They're a happy couple, supportive of each other's big ideas and content in their relationship.
03:34 "I'm glad you didn't die." "Well, technically I did for a bit.
03:39 Did I dream that house?" Much of the humor is drawn from Mike's inability to see the ghosts,
03:48 and it makes for a fun dynamic. Sam and Jay, their counterparts in the US remake,
03:53 have a slightly different vibe, and the actors make the characters their own.
03:57 "But it makes me feel like Joanna Gaines, and I'm not mad at that.
04:01 You wanna come be my chip, big boy?" "Um, yes please. Wait a minute,
04:05 why do we only roleplay couples from HGTV?"
04:08 Both couples are at the heart of their respective series, and they both deserve more love.
04:12 Number 7. Andre and Rainbow. Black-ish.
04:17 "We could design it together." "You mean,
04:19 converge our flawless, independent styles into perfect, balanced dopeness? Could be fun."
04:26 Like many sitcom couples, it's the differences between Dre and Beau that make their dynamic,
04:31 interesting. He's Compton born and bred, she grew up in a hippie commune. They have different
04:36 parenting styles, and they're always at odds. In season 4, they even come perilously close
04:42 to splitting for good. But at the end of the day, she loves him, and he loves her.
04:47 "Ramen, my lady." "AHHHH! I love it so much!"
04:52 "I'm gonna get noodle music." "Get noodle music."
04:54 "Noodle music. Oh, look at that, I'm like a DJ, huh?"
04:58 They're both intelligent, family-oriented people, and when hard times come, they handle their
05:03 issues like adults. As one of the few US sitcoms prominently focusing on a Black family, Black-ish
05:09 gives us a central couple who are multifaceted, well-written, and genuinely funny. They're
05:15 brought to life by the exceptional Tracey Ellis Ross and Anthony Anderson, and it's time they get
05:20 more recognition. "I love what I have with you."
05:24 "Works for me."
05:27 Number 6. Lewis and Jessica, Fresh Off the Boat.
05:31 "I love that you have big dreams, but I don't want to lose everything. Lewis,
05:35 let's just go home." "We can't do that."
05:38 "Why? What's so important? We have to move here and change our whole lives!"
05:41 US sitcoms prominently featuring Asian-American families are few and far between. In 2015,
05:48 Fresh Off the Boat became the first to air on primetime TV since 1994's All-American Girl.
05:54 Based loosely on an autobiography by Eddie Huang, it follows a young Eddie and his family after
06:00 they move to Florida. Randall Park and Constance Wu play the parents, Lewis and Jessica, and
06:06 they're fantastic in the roles. "I want more than okay for us two. I'm with you. Not for me also."
06:15 It's another case of strict mom and goofy dad, but the actors sell it to the utmost. Wu became
06:23 the breakout star with her pitch-perfect portrayal of Jessica, but it's the oft-overlooked comic
06:29 chemistry between the pair that really makes the show sparkle. "I think we should buy back
06:33 Kenny Rogers' half of the restaurant." "Are you sure that's what you want?" "I'm sure."
06:37 "I'm glad. Because I already signed the papers with Lorenzo." "What?"
06:43 "I acted before thinking, but that's what you love about me."
06:46 Number 5. Michael and Holly, The Office. "So this is one of my favorite places in the world."
06:53 "Why?" "This is where Toby announced that he was going to Costa Rica.
06:56 It's the happiest day of my life. Until the day you came to replace him."
07:01 Everybody loves Jim and Pam, and for good reason, but they weren't the only adorable office romance
07:07 at Dunder Mifflin. Michael Scott had to wait a while to find the right woman to laugh at his
07:12 jokes, but as season 4 came to a close, in walked Holly Flax. "Yo, duh. Um...
07:22 Pass curvy metal piece, you will." After all, everyone deserves love, even annoying regional
07:29 managers. The Office writers did a great job of creating a believable character that was also
07:34 Michael's perfect match. Holly and Michael have a surprising amount in common, and most importantly,
07:40 they share a sense of humor. Actress Amy Ryan had great chemistry with Steve Carell,
07:45 and it was lovely to see their character's romance blossom. "Holly Flax,
07:51 marry me, will you be?" "Your wife be coming, me will I."
07:58 Number 4. Raymond and Kevin. Brooklyn Nine-Nine. "So nice of you to stop by, Kevin. Enjoy your day,
08:05 I hope it's productive." "Thank you, Raymond. I hope your day is productive as well.
08:08 PDA in the office? My, my." "Couldn't help myself." Raymond Holt is one of Brooklyn Nine-Nine's most
08:14 iconic characters. An openly gay member of the NYPD, Holt's career has been stunted by homophobia
08:21 in the force. However, as captain of the 99th Precinct for much of the series, he's determined
08:26 to make his department the best they can be. Although his work persona is solemn and by the
08:31 book, to his husband Kevin, Holt is the funny one. "You're the one who's been acting terribly
08:35 tonight. You've been curd and snobby with my guests. You've been needling poor Peralta so
08:39 much you practically made him a new suit." "Needled him a new suit." "Even when we're
08:43 fighting, you're hilarious. Stop it." Together with their dog, Cheddar, Kevin brings out a
08:48 softer side to Holt. The depiction of their loving and long-term relationship is nothing short of
08:52 lovely and unique. It's the definition of a true partnership, and we wish they got more attention
08:58 for it. "You make me want to have a wetter brain." "Oh, Kevin. Y'all are hella specific."
09:08 Number three, David and Patrick, Schitt's Creek. "I was picturing us like on a charming park bench
09:14 in the middle of a private English garden." "David, you have to stop watching Notting Hill.
09:19 It's not helpful for our relationship." The romance between David Rose and Patrick Brewer
09:24 from Schitt's Creek became one of the best parts of the series, and we think this couple should be
09:29 up there with the sitcom greats. For Patrick, who had never kissed another man before meeting David,
09:34 this is partly a coming-out story. It's sensitively told without being sensationalized,
09:39 and beautifully acted by both Dan Levy and Noah Reed. "I was getting a little scared that I was
09:44 gonna let you leave here without us having done that, so, um, thank you for, um, making that
09:55 happen for us." Despite their different temperaments and journeys, both partners are supportive and
10:00 non-judgmental of each other. As the series progressed, we watched David and Patrick fall
10:06 in love and build a healthy, long-lasting relationship, eventually tying the knot.
10:11 Their story is straightforward and simple by sitcom standards, but that's what makes it special.
10:16 "Patrick Brewer, you are my happy ending."
10:22 Number 2. Winston and Allie, New Girl. "I can't even jokingly manage you,
10:27 because you're so perfect." "Well, you're the most ridiculous person I've ever met, but,
10:33 you know, I honestly never get tired of you." Nick and Jess shared one of the best TV kisses
10:39 of all time, and Cece and Schmidt made it work against the odds. But Winston's romance surprised
10:45 us the most. It's also the one that remains the most underappreciated. After joining the LAPD,
10:51 Winston was partnered with Allie, a straightforward cop who basically told him not to fall in love
10:56 with her. We're glad he didn't listen, because they turned out to be perfect for each other.
11:01 "Allie, um, look, I really like you, and, um, look, I know you just broke up with your boyfriend,
11:07 but whenever you're ready, I'd like to take you on a date. A real date."
11:12 Slow burn, healthy, and surprisingly drama-free, this romantic arc was a pleasure to watch.
11:18 Winston and Allie moved seamlessly from partners to friends,
11:22 to lovers, to spouses and parents, and it felt like a natural progression.
11:29 "Will you marry me?" "Of course I will, Officer Bishop."
11:33 Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.
11:42 Elena and Sid, One Day at a Time, A Sweet Teen Romance.
11:47 "I like you so much. Like, so, so much." "Yeah? Well, you have a really weird way of showing it."
11:58 Julius and Rochelle, Everybody Hates Chris.
12:01 They bicker, but they're crazy about each other.
12:04 "If you're not attracted to her, how could you think she was me?"
12:07 "Because y'all both fine, baby." "Sit down."
12:11 Lionel and Anne, Workin' Moms.
12:22 Opposites attract for this sitcom couple.
12:25 "I don't know how I'm gonna take care of three kids. I honestly have no clue,
12:28 but I promise you that I will rise to the occasion like I always do, because baby,
12:33 I'm a grower."
12:38 Paul and Jamie, Mad About You.
12:41 This duo are forever couple goals.
12:43 "What do you think's gonna happen if you let go?" "I don't know."
12:45 "Your boss is gonna yell at you?" "No."
12:47 "Your clients are gonna leave you?" "No."
12:48 "You're just gonna explode into a million pieces all over the place?"
12:51 "That's the one."
12:54 "Well, I will pick up the pieces and glue you back."
12:57 Jason and Janet, The Good Place.
13:00 An odd couple match made in the afterlife.
13:03 "Does anybody here object to this marriage?" "Of course we do! How could we not object?"
13:08 "Overruled. Jason, do you want me to be your wife?" "Yeah."
13:11 "I want you to be my husband." "Tight."
13:13 "So, by the power vested in me by me, I now pronounce us husband and wife."
13:18 "We did it!"

13:34 Number 1. Phoebe and Mike, Friends.
13:39 "I think I wanna get married to you today." "Me too. Monica, do you think we could do it?"
13:46 Friends produced some iconic TV pairings during its 10 years on the air. If Ross and Rachel were
13:51 the "it" couple, Monica and Chandler were perhaps the most beloved. Joey was shortchanged by the
13:57 writers when it came to serious romance, but Phoebe had her share of likable love interests.
14:02 We loved David, the lovestruck scientist played by Hank Azaria, but Friends' most
14:07 underappreciated couple has to be Phoebe and Mike.
14:10 "What are you doing?" "I'm trying to get your parents to like me."
14:13 "Yeah, I'm sure they will, but you know, you don't have to do this. I want them to get to
14:16 know Phoebe, not…" "Phoebe." "You got it."
14:20 Paul Rudd joined the cast pretty late, and he made an impression from the very first Meet Cute.
14:26 Mike's easy charm and dry sense of humor made him the perfect match for the kookiest member
14:31 of the gang. By the end, it was hard to imagine a world without him and Phoebe together.
14:35 "Now I'm standing here today, knowing that I have everything I'm ever gonna need.
14:40 You are my family."
