00:00 I never thought it was such a bad little tree. Not bad at all, really. Maybe it just needs a little love.
00:04 Here's your Christmas spot on the Super 7 Peanuts Reaction Figures Charlie Brown, Linus and Sad Tree.
00:10 [music]
00:26 [crunching]
00:29 When Charlie Brown complains about the overwhelming materialism that he sees during the holiday season,
00:34 Lucy suggests that he direct the school Christmas pageant.
00:37 Charlie Brown accepts, but the cast is not impressed with his directing.
00:40 When an attempt to restore the proper spirit with a forlorn little Christmas tree fails,
00:45 he needs Linus' help to learn the meaning of Christmas.
00:48 While Chuck is having to cope with pantophobia, a fear of everything,
00:51 let's grab the tape measure and see how tall these Reaction Peanut Figures stand.
00:54 Now, Linus is going to be slightly taller just because of the toque on his head,
00:57 but I'm only really going to measure one of them because they're almost about the same size.
01:01 Charlie Brown is about three and a quarter inches in height, or the figures are going to be about eight centimeters tall.
01:07 The one accessory that they come included with is, in fact, the Sad Tree.
01:11 And before you think I'm criticizing this tree's stature,
01:14 that's actually what it's called on the front of the packaging, the Sad Little Tree.
01:17 The Sad Tree does, though, just need a little bit of love.
01:19 Taking Linus' blanket and wrapping it around somehow adds additional foliage to what is a pretty bare-looking tree.
01:25 It does have one little lone Christmas ball on the end that basically causes the collapse of the tree and the tree to fall over.
01:31 This is made of fairly soft plastic, but it's nicely painted.
01:34 Both the twigs, the branches, and of course the individual leaves on the end of it,
01:37 and the ball itself, for what it is, is nicely painted there as well.
01:40 It's a stachion thing for obvious reasons.
01:42 You're not really going to be able to do much, really, with the Sad Tree,
01:44 other than just displaying it with the two figures.
01:47 Linus does also come with one other accessory, too, and that's his security blanket.
01:51 I like the way they've attached the blanket because, if you look at it,
01:53 it's actually a real kind of felt material, but it's attached by a little elastic.
01:58 The elastic, for all intents and purposes, you'd be able to take off of Linus' hand.
02:02 We could just go ahead and take the blanket.
02:04 It doesn't really give you enough of a means to kind of wrap it around the tree.
02:07 I suppose you could do somewhat of a serviceable thing of just kind of wrapping it around the front like that.
02:11 But I'm more or less going to be just displaying it in Linus' hand.
02:14 I do like it and appreciate it. At least they gave you the way to remove the blanket.
02:18 The only thing about it, though, is it's just a little bit harder to get back over Linus' hands
02:21 because you have to kind of stretch the elastic around his hand.
02:24 Maybe what I may just do is leave it off right now
02:26 because I know I'm going to get to the poseability on the figures more in a second.
02:29 First, let's look at Charlie Brown. We're going to go ahead and pick up Charlie Brown.
02:32 Both of them are actually wearing their outside clothes.
02:34 Charlie Brown does have a hat, though it's not removable. Linus does have a toque.
02:37 It's also not removable.
02:39 The hat itself is really nicely done here and sculpted in brown plastic.
02:43 I would imagine it's probably been painted. By judging by the little line,
02:46 you can see it has bled a little bit onto Charlie Brown's head,
02:49 but not enough to really think the figure has been poorly painted.
02:52 One thing I really think that's been nicely done is the way that they've sculpted the faces.
02:55 Not only just relying on just paint alone,
02:58 if you were to run your finger across all the things that are on his features,
03:01 like the little eye winks or wrinkles that he has on the sides of his eyes, for example,
03:06 and as well as mouth, it seems to be that they've actually sculpted that in there.
03:10 At least I can feel there's something embedded into the plastic.
03:13 I think that's a nice touch.
03:15 They could have easily just molded these in just a circular plastic
03:18 and gone in there with a paintbrush and painted, apparently with your pinky,
03:21 painted that by hand, but the fact that they actually would have sculpted that all in
03:24 is a really nice touch on Super 7's part.
03:27 I also really like the way they've sculpted the hair and made even the eyes
03:30 something that's raised from the plastic, as you can hopefully see from the side.
03:34 Charlie Brown has some really nice bright colors in the jacket that he wears,
03:37 a nice bright vibrant red.
03:39 He does have some posability.
03:41 I mean, of course, with reaction figures, you're not going to get really much in the way of posability,
03:44 but I think in a character like Charlie Brown, and really the Peanuts across the board,
03:47 being that they're kind of figures with limited articulation anyways,
03:50 you're really only going to see them kind of walking around and swaying their arms
03:53 and turning their heads.
03:55 That's exactly what the reaction figures are really doing.
03:57 You're not going to be putting necessarily Charlie Brown or Limes, for that matter, in karate poses.
04:00 I think really that the Peanuts as a whole is really a franchise,
04:04 a license that lends really well to very limited articulation figures.
04:08 So again, really when it comes to Charlie Brown, for example,
04:11 his head is only going to just be on a straight swivel.
04:13 There's no real ball joint or anything like working with these figures,
04:16 so I'm not going to get too crazy with that.
04:18 What would I really need to have Charlie Brown be able to move his head and up, down for,
04:21 other than maybe just being depressed by the holiday season?
04:24 But he has at least head rotation, and he has it where I feel it counts,
04:27 in his arms and down below in his legs.
04:29 Now, unfortunately, with the legs, even though they have pegs and they undersize their feet,
04:32 even if they were to, say, for example, give him a swaying leg,
04:35 which, again, they have the posability there,
04:37 you really can't really get them in a pose in which Charlie Brown is walking.
04:40 I mean, you can kind of balance him on one foot,
04:43 so in a way it does look like Charlie Brown.
04:45 You can kind of bring his arm forward, bring his arm back like this.
04:48 In a way, it does kind of look like Charlie Brown is walking,
04:50 but it also maybe looks like he doesn't want to step in something he found on the ground.
04:54 I like the look of Charlie Brown, though.
04:56 I'm really, again, loving this line.
04:58 It's only by just the introduction of having a look at these during the Christmas season,
05:01 just by happening to be the case that these are Christmas-related videos,
05:05 but I can really see myself getting more into the Peanuts reaction figures.
05:08 I really don't know too much of what Super 7 has done so far for Peanuts characters,
05:12 but based on at least what I'm seeing so far,
05:14 I'm really liking this line so far.
05:16 Picking up now Linus.
05:17 Like Charlie Brown, he does have a toot, but it's not removable.
05:20 Really some fun expressions on his face.
05:22 He's got a big, big smile across from ear to ear.
05:24 And again, I really, again, love the idea that the eyes and the eyebrows
05:27 and everything that really basically you're seeing on the figure,
05:30 short of maybe just the hairs on the back,
05:31 that's one thing that looks like they've only just painted in place.
05:34 But all the things on the front are all raised from the plastic.
05:37 Colors, again, are very bright here on Linus.
05:39 Bright green on the hat.
05:40 I know I'm stating all the obvious things.
05:42 He's got the orange jacket, kind of a yellowish orange jacket,
05:44 and brown slacks, black slacks as well.
05:46 Again, it has the same articulation point.
05:49 I mean, only five points for articulation.
05:51 Really, what else do I really need from Peanuts characters?
05:54 If they can do this, if they can do this,
05:56 and if they can do back and forth on the legs,
05:58 that's really all I need for them.
05:59 And then, of course, the benefit of this one is the fact he does have the little blanket.
06:03 The only thing about the blanket, though,
06:04 is while I do appreciate the fact that you can remove it,
06:06 it's a really hard thing to get back onto his hand,
06:09 because again, you have to kind of stretch the elastic
06:11 and get it wrapped around his fingers.
06:13 I did want to, though, remove it so you guys could actually see.
06:16 It is something that you could remove.
06:17 And really, again, if you wanted to, like they did in the actual special,
06:20 you could really take the blanket off, wrap it around the tree,
06:23 and mysteriously, just the magic of Christmas alone,
06:27 it adds all this additional foliage and lights and stuff on the tree.
06:30 I don't even know how that's possible,
06:31 but once again, that's the magic of Christmas.
06:34 Well, my hope for a Christmas miracle kind of got squashed.
06:37 Me attempting to try to wrap around the blanket
06:39 and simulating what ended up happening in the cartoon
06:41 produces no such similar results.
06:43 The sad tree still looks like a sad tree.
06:45 I can't believe they actually called that on the front of the packaging.
06:47 I mean, really, it isn't that bad of a tree.
06:49 After all, it still, though, looks a little sad.
06:51 What I ended up doing, though, was I took Linus's blanket,
06:54 that little elastic, by the way, that fits around his fingers,
06:56 you can actually kind of fit that around one of those boards
06:58 that it has on the bottom of the tree
07:00 and then sort of tuck the blanket underneath one of the smallest branches
07:04 and kind of holds the blanket in place.
07:06 I might just end up just displaying it anyways with Linus.
07:08 I like the idea that at least the blanket was removable
07:10 because initially when I did buy this set online,
07:12 I thought, "I'm sure they're probably just going to glue the blanket to Linus's hand,"
07:16 and it wasn't the case at all.
07:18 A Christmas miracle.
07:19 What I really like about these figures is that
07:21 I know when it comes to Super 7 and it comes to Reaction figures,
07:24 it's not going to be everyone's cup of tea.
07:26 They're really well-painted characters,
07:28 but with the limited points of articulation that you can easily count on one hand,
07:31 it's very easy for a line to be forgettable like this,
07:34 but there's something to be charming about the Peanuts characters
07:37 because these characters are really generally blocky
07:39 and limited in articulation in the cartoon episodes anyways.
07:41 It really translates nicely to a Reaction figure line.
07:44 A Transformer, obviously, like they've done Reaction Transformers,
07:47 they've done Reaction GI Joes.
07:49 I mean, mileage may vary as to how interested you guys actually are with those,
07:52 but I tell you though, if you are a fan of Peanuts,
07:54 don't overlook this line as we are hopefully going to be getting more from Super 7.
07:58 What do you guys, though, think of the Peanuts,
08:00 Charlie Brown, Linus, and the very sad-looking tree?
08:03 Have you picked up this set for yourself?
08:04 Let me know down below in the comments section,
08:06 and if you are collecting the Reaction figures,
08:08 what line are you collecting?
08:09 GI Joe, Transformers, I know they've done Power Rangers and also as well.
08:12 I've kind of been tempted to get the smaller Power Rangers, get the little Zords,
08:15 because again, they're limited on opposability,
08:17 but they more than make up for it with the sculpting and the paint.
08:20 If you guys enjoyed this video, I want to hit it with a like.
08:22 If you guys are loving the content you guys are seeing,
08:23 and you certainly would like to stick around for some more Christmas-related videos.
08:26 I know we're kind of down to the wire.
08:27 If I'm looking at my calendar, that's four years old.
08:30 Yeah, we're coming up to Christmas,
08:32 even though the days don't really line up quite correctly,
08:35 but we're kind of coming down to the wire.
08:37 So there's going to be still limited days left before Christmas comes around,
08:40 but it does not mean that we're not still going to be looking at some more Christmas-related videos.
08:44 So if that's the kind of thing you like to come back to this channel for,
08:46 make sure you're coming back here on a regular basis.
08:48 As always, guys, thanks for watching.
08:50 See you guys next time.
