00:23 Allow me to start by thanking Peter and the entire Rod

00:32 and Schwarz leadership for accepting to have our country

00:43 as a long-term partner.

00:48 In fact, a bit of the story has been told by Peter when I visited,

01:00 when we met and visited their company headquarters

01:06 and we had a discussion.

01:09 So, the simple expression of invitation for Peter and the company

01:22 to come to Rwanda, he without hesitation accepted the invitation

01:32 and as they say, the rest is history, right?

01:38 So, today we are here enjoying this moment of significance.

01:51 Over the years, Rwanda has made significant progress

01:55 in developing our digital economy.

02:01 There is a lot more to do, a lot.

02:06 Our strategy focuses on creating an enabling environment

02:12 for business while investing in broadband infrastructure

02:16 and digital skills.

02:19 The Kigeri International Financial Center,

02:22 Kigeri Innovation City and the Center

02:26 for the Fourth Industrial Revolution, just three examples

02:35 of many things we are trying to do or can do in the near future.

02:44 Our vision is to become a trusted hub for digital financial services

02:52 and technology innovation in our region and beyond.

02:59 Rod and Schwarz is already a positive addition

03:04 to Rwanda's technology community

03:08 through the software development lab started in 2019.

03:20 Key public institutions in Rwanda are already making use

03:24 of these applications.

03:29 The launch of Rod and Schwarz Rwanda office,

03:35 the first in our continent,

03:39 will only enhance the good collaboration we have seen.

03:47 I commend the company's new commitments

03:53 in cybersecurity training and curriculum development as well

03:57 as the support for a radio frequency lab in conjunction

04:05 with the QT Software, a Rwandan software company.

04:11 What has determined our progress as a country is the focus we have

04:20 put on our people, especially the young people.

04:29 I therefore encourage you to continue collaborating

04:33 with higher education institutions going forward.

04:41 You have our full support.

04:45 Consider us as a reliable partner.

04:49 And please feel at home.

04:53 This is one of your many, or maybe, I don't know,

04:59 few places you can call your home.

05:04 Once again, congratulations on the launch of this office.
