00:17 Hey guys, this is Zoltan Batry from Five Finger Death Punch and we are in Birmingham.
00:22 [Music]
00:37 This is Birmingham. This is the cradle of heavy metal.
00:42 So, you know, this is kind of like, you're gonna know where you're at if they're throwing piss out here in a bottle.
00:49 Then you know that it's not happening.
00:52 It was awesome and, you know, that was basically the idea.
00:54 We wanted to do a surprise for, you know, Rob Halford is from Birmingham.
01:00 So we figured this is gonna be a proper surprise.
01:02 This is a lost show on this European tour and I think this is the best way to finish it, you know.
01:09 Nobody knew. Even our booking agent or management, nobody knew that, you know, we asked Rob if we would come down.
01:16 And again, he's in Birmingham. This is his hometown. So nobody knew. It was a complete surprise.
01:22 The song that we did together went number one, you know, in the States.
01:26 So it's a crown jewel in the whole thing.
01:29 [Music]
01:46 We knew that Rob was a fan of the band because he did an interview on television
01:50 and we heard him saying that one of his favorite bands from the new crop is Five Finger Death Punch.
01:56 So as we were recording this last album, there was a tune where basically the song that he ended up singing on.
02:04 But we were talking about it in the studio and said, hey, this kind of have a little bit of that old school metal, you know, 80s vibe a little bit,
02:12 you know, a little bit Ozzy, a little bit Judas Priest maybe.
02:14 And we just had this wild idea like, hey, do you think, you know, if we would reach out, would he sing on this?
02:19 And it's a long shot. Like, you know, it's his metal god, you know.
02:24 I'm pretty sure he's busy striking down the non-believers in somewhere, you know what I mean, throwing lightning and, you know, whatever metal gods do.
02:31 And our manager, you know, reached out and he actually listened to the song and he was like, oh my God, I love the song.
02:38 I want to be involved. And he flew into Las Vegas where we were recording.
02:41 So actually he recorded this song right in front of us.
02:43 So we were in the studio and he's singing in a booth.
02:46 So I'm like, if I get striked down by lightning right now, I'm good.
02:49 I did something good in life, you know.
02:53 And it was pretty amazing. He was hanging out with us for a couple of days, you know, the tour stories and whatnot he has.
03:00 I mean, imagine he's been doing it since the 70s.
03:22 We are here like the third time this year, you know, and we keep coming back.
03:26 And pretty much 2014, we're going to probably do about two, three tours here.
03:31 It's in the works, so it is going to happen.
03:33 You can pretty much say it's a fact, unless, you know, there is some situation going on in Kiev.
03:38 So unless we never make it out of there, you know, there's going to be a Europe tour in March.
