00:00 Hello everyone, my name is Armutoni Jane, I'm 20 years old and I am Miss Heritage Rwanda.
00:07 Rwanda, the heart of Africa. Located in the east of Africa and situated at the heart of the greatest lakes.
00:15 Popularly known as a land of a thousand hills, full of beautiful landscapes and green by nature.
00:21 With a diverse population, a nation that believes in unity, hard work and love for our motherland.
00:29 Our culture and heritage are highly respected and considered to be one of the greatest weapons that saved our nation
00:36 from the horrors of misery, the 1994 genocide and dictatorship to the greatest heights of success.
00:42 Which is one of the strongest stories of recovery, dignity and prosperity on the African continent.
00:49 When you're walking on the streets of Kigali, our capital city where I live,
00:54 it is very peaceful and extremely clean with beautiful people, maximum security and fascinating views
01:01 with so many beautiful places to visit.
01:03 One of them is the Kigali Convention Center that is conveniently located within 5 km from the city center
01:12 and the Kigali International Airport.
01:14 The cupola inspires of the dome pick up from the origins of the ancient Rwanda culture
01:20 and transform them into a striking modern architecture of the future.
01:24 The design of the exterior calls to the traditional handicraft like basket weaving and beading.
01:30 Well, the modern materials clearly bring the structure into today's modern environment.
01:36 It is one of the biggest conference facilities in the region.
01:43 Our heritage in Rwanda is so wide and broad as well as one of a kind due to its beauty that is full of grace and meaning.
01:52 Here we have 8 lakes and 4 national parks.
01:57 The Akagira National Park that covers 1,200 square kilometers in the eastern province.
02:03 It was founded in 1934.
02:05 It's a home to a diverse population of animals in different interesting characters.
02:11 The Nyungu National Park that is 1,019 square kilometers.
02:15 It is the largest tropical rainforest located in the southwest corner of Rwanda.
02:20 It is approximately 225 km from Kigali, a 4 to 5 hour drive making it the farthest national park from the capital city.
02:31 The park is famous for being the farthest source of River Nile,
02:35 surely one of the world's most beautiful and pristine mountain rainforest.
02:40 It is believed to be one of Africa's oldest forests staying green even through the ice age, which explains its biodiversity.
02:49 The most exciting part of it, it is the 50 meter long waterfall known as Kamiranzofo, located in east of Nyungwe National Park.
03:00 And the canopy walkway constructed right in the middle of the forest.
03:05 It is 150 meters long with a length of 70 meters from the ground where you are able to get almost the full view of the forest.
03:14 It is one of a lifetime experience.
03:18 The Volcanoes National Park, which is one of the most famous tourism destination of the continent.
03:26 It is the oldest park in Africa established back in 1925.
03:31 It lies along the Virunga Mountains with 8 ancient volcanoes, which are shared by Rwanda, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, covering 160 square kilometers.

03:50 It carries Rwanda's traditional values of naming a newborn in Rwanda community through the naming ceremony of baby gorillas known as Kwiti Zina, celebrated every year.
04:02 And lastly, the newly recognized Kishuatimukure National Park.
04:07 Rwanda has always been a unified state from the pre-colonial times, a nation with one culture, one language and one heritage.
04:18 Our music and dances are so unique and beautiful mostly expressed in festivals, social gatherings and as an art of storytelling.
04:28 We have different types of dances, each with a meaning.
04:33 There is Umshagiriro, which is a dance performed by women on slow moves with grace, expressing elegance and beauty with their arms raised as a symbol of the horns of loyal cows.
04:46 There is Umha Mirizo, this is a dance of heroes which is performed by men wearing hair dresses with beads crossed over the chest.
04:56 This is a dance that was performed by the return of warriors celebrating victory.
05:02 And the drums that usually appear in a group of 7 or 9 people.
05:07 The drums are symbols of loyal power which were used for announcing the presence of the king and communicating in subject.
05:15 And of course the traditional guitar called Inanga, which is used and performed by professional cultural artists.
05:23 Clothing was traditionally made in Anmolskins back in the days, while today the traditional female dress code are called Umshanana.
05:33 With a traditional hairstyle that consists of bands decorated with beads and tied with two ribbons across the head.
05:41 We also have the traditional arts of waving, decorating and painting which are part of our culture expressions.
05:49 Trade has always been part of our culture and heritage.
05:54 As of today due to her robust agricultural potentials, Rwanda is a potential food basket for East and Central Africa and a producer of some of the best coffee and tea in Africa.
06:06 Rwanda stands high as one of the fastest growing economies in Africa.
06:12 Once again I present to you the true land of the sun.
