00:00 >> Yeah, I think the biggest thing that factored into my decision was just
00:05 the chemistry and the connection in our locker room and
00:08 just a standard that we've set at Georgia and
00:12 have an opportunity to do that again for another year.
00:15 Like obviously this season has been super fun for me and I've enjoyed, I mean,
00:19 every step of the way.
00:20 Every single game, get in the play, go out there, do what I love.
00:24 So to be able to make that decision to come back and
00:27 do it again was the right decision.
00:30 >> Your teammates yesterday were talking about you seem to take it to another level
00:34 in bowl practices.
00:35 Do you think that had anything to do with kind of like getting your decision out
00:39 there and behind you?
00:41 And I guess do you agree with that assessment?
00:43 I mean, do you feel loose and focused and accurate?
00:48 >> Yeah, I think that's part of it.
00:50 I definitely think it was something that was like heavy on my mind,
00:52 like immediately after the game.
00:53 But now that it's in the past, people aren't really talking about it.
00:58 It's not something that I have to think about.
00:59 I can just lock in and focus on this game, our plan, and
01:03 going out there and just trying to execute at the highest level, right?
01:07 >> How do you view your season?
01:10 Obviously, for a first year starter, it's hard to find too much fault with
01:15 the numbers you put up and the production.
01:17 But I'm sure you are a tough critic.
01:19 Where do you see your game for next season?
01:20 Where do you wanna take it?
01:21 >> Yeah, I mean, I felt like this season was okay.
01:25 I mean, I did some good things, I did some bad things.
01:28 But you're right, I am super high on myself.
01:32 I set really high expectations.
01:34 But definitely could have done a whole lot better.
01:37 There's so many opportunities left out on the field.
01:40 So many decisions where it's like I go back and watch a film.
01:42 I'm like, I've done that a thousand times and
01:44 like how could I possibly mess that up?
01:47 So just really coming back and being super tough on myself as we go into next year.
01:52 Obviously, finish out this year strong, but going into next year,
01:56 being super critical of myself and really honing in on the areas that I need to improve on.
02:00 >> Carson, I think you're second in the country in third out conversion rate.
02:03 As a quarterback, what was the key to y'all's success this year on third down?
02:08 >> The biggest thing is the preparation part for me.
02:11 Obviously, third down is the toughest down,
02:13 especially when you're getting into third and what, eight, nine, ten plus.
02:19 I mean, it's really favorable for the defense.
02:20 And there's obviously, they set up different packages.
02:23 They put in different players to blitz the crap out of you,
02:26 run crazy coverages, try to trick you.
02:28 But the preparation that we put in, and we put a lot of emphasis actually on
02:32 Wednesdays, like third downs.
02:33 And now we'll do them on Thursdays too, so today's practice,
02:36 we'll do a lot of third downs.
02:37 But getting almost every single look that we think that could come.
02:40 Obviously, defense has put in different packages for different offenses.
02:44 It's the same that we do for different defenses.
02:46 But the preparation, then obviously the guys that we have, and
02:49 the knowledge that they have to be able to run certain routes and
02:52 get certain coverages, that's a huge part.
02:54 But we do have one more game to try to be first in the country, so.
02:57 >> Kirby mentioned all year how he kind of felt like you were the same guy from
03:00 week one to week 12.
03:02 We kind of asked him about areas of improvement, and
03:04 he said you seemed like the same guy.
03:06 Did you feel like you improved at all this year?
03:07 Or was there a moment that it kind of clicked as the first year started?
03:12 >> I think as far as the skills and that stuff, it was always there.
03:18 But I feel like if you watch the film,
03:20 it doesn't look like the same person throughout the year.
03:23 You can tell the confidence, kind of just the aura that I started to build
03:29 over each game, cuz week one, Carson, and
03:33 week 11, Carson, were not the same quarterback at all.
03:37 >> How does it feel in the pocket, Carson?
03:39 We got to see you move around and scramble a little bit,
03:41 look to what's left towards the end of the year.
03:42 You looked a lot more confident, moving a lot faster.
03:44 Can you talk about getting back to playing football, full contact again for
03:48 the first time in a while?
03:50 >> Yeah, I mean, I think that was a huge thing as far as playing the game again.
03:55 Week one, two, I'm like, okay, when do I take off?
03:58 When do I not?
03:59 When do I take a sack?
04:00 When do I throw the ball away?
04:01 Cuz in practice, I'm not getting hit.
04:03 So half the time, I'm just sitting in the pocket trying to work on progressions,
04:07 reads.
04:07 I might slide over to the left or right every now and then.
04:10 But as you continue to play week to week and start feeling the pressure,
04:15 know, okay, there's the gap, I'm gonna take off.
04:17 It's just a feel thing at that point.
04:20 >> You talk about week one, Carson, and week 11,
04:23 Carson being completely different.
04:25 How big of a difference can there be between 2023 Carson and 2024 Carson?
04:30 >> Huge difference, my eyes.
04:32 There's a lot of areas that I'll go back and watch this season,
04:35 watch every single play over and over again.
04:37 I kinda just talked about it, but there's so many things that I can improve on and
04:42 just continue to get better at.
04:43 And even the confidence piece of just going out there and believing in this team,
04:47 believing in myself, and understanding exactly what defenses are trying to do.
04:53 But I think that there can be a huge improvement for years here.
