00:00 the protest. We're live in
00:03 Sky Fox. We're live in 10 27.
00:05 Welcome back a story we're
00:08 watching closely. Stew up in
00:10 Sky Fox. Let's get to you right
00:11 now to get the very latest on
00:12 the protest, which disrupted
00:16 traffic there at L A X. Well,
00:18 the protest seems to be over as
00:20 LAPD is basically round up
00:22 almost all of those protesters.
00:23 That's one of the last spots
00:24 right there. They're still
00:25 processing some of those
00:26 protesters that they have taken
00:28 into custody. That's gonna be
00:29 a lot of debris. They're
00:30 processing. They're processing
00:31 some of that debris. They're
00:32 processing some of that debris
00:33 that's been thrown in the
00:34 area from the where it all
00:36 started earlier on. Let me see
00:37 if I can spin it around and
00:38 hopefully the clouds are still
00:39 not going to be covering it up.
00:40 No, they are not. Now. They
00:41 actually have crews down there
00:42 that are starting to clear up
00:44 some of that debris. That's
00:45 actually at the entrance way of
00:47 L A X. I got to be careful the
00:48 way I zoom in there because
00:49 there is some graffiti group
00:51 onto the roadway that we cannot
00:52 show on television, but you can
00:53 see cruiser out there working
00:54 to clear up the last of the
00:56 debris that was out there. This
00:57 is the area where they were
00:58 processing some of that debris
00:59 that they had taken into
01:01 custody. This is the area that
01:02 they were processing at the
01:04 entrance on Century Boulevard.
01:06 LAPD moved in pretty quickly
01:07 and they got protesters made a
01:08 run came over to this
01:09 intersection here. They
01:11 actually cleared that area out
01:12 completely. They were
01:13 processing some of those
01:14 protesters that they took into
01:16 put into custody at that
01:18 location. Others kind of broke
01:19 free and they were trying to
01:20 double their way back to create
01:22 some more havoc to not allow
01:24 people to get into L A X. But
01:26 they were able to get away.
01:28 They were able to get away.
01:29 They're trying to get away.
01:30 They're trying to get away
01:31 right now, and we understand
01:32 those protesters in custody. I
01:34 know G is on the ground down
01:35 there. She's probably got better
01:37 information and more of a sight
01:41 to see G. Well over a dozen
01:43 protesters have now been taken
01:44 into police custody. That
01:46 number possibly as high as 15.
01:48 You are looking live at the
01:50 exit here in L A X and you can
01:51 see the Sepulveda Boulevard has
01:53 now been shut down per police
01:55 department. We're live in the
01:57 airport with the latest on this
01:59 story. I'm here with the
02:01 chief of police, Jessica on
02:03 Sepulveda. I'm gonna ask
02:05 photographer Brian Shaw to spin
02:07 around what I've been seeing and
02:09 talking to a lot of frustrated
02:11 shuttle drivers, the men and
02:12 women who work for the shuttle
02:14 companies, the different
02:15 parking lots off site parking
02:16 lots that bring folks in to
02:18 catch planes and also the hotel
02:20 shuttle drivers. They've been
02:22 stuck in all of this mess.
02:24 They're not getting any sleep.
02:26 They're not getting any rest.
02:27 They're not getting the
02:29 support that they needed,
02:30 especially today on such a busy
02:32 travel day. Now what we've
02:34 learned is this apparently is
02:36 part of a concentrated effort
02:39 across the country right now.
02:41 Police in New York City dealing
02:43 with the same thing, but at JFK
02:45 Airport where people right now
02:47 are getting out of their cars
02:49 and carrying their own luggage
02:51 into the airport so they don't
02:53 get caught. And so we're
02:55 learning that the police are
02:57 trying to resolve this issue.
02:58 The police here responded very
03:01 quickly. They didn't want to
03:03 see what we're seeing here now,
03:04 and they tried to resolve it as
03:06 quickly as possible. But
03:08 unfortunately, it could not be
03:09 resolved. As Stu was
03:10 mentioning, protesters gathered
03:12 palm fronds and appeared to
03:14 want to light them on fire to
03:16 continue to block the entrance.
03:19 An illegal event was declared
03:21 today. The police are still
03:23 trying to resolve this issue.
03:24 They're still trying to
03:26 resolve this issue. They're
03:27 still running, but they have
03:29 been caught again about a dozen
03:31 to 15 people in police custody,
03:33 and some of those people are
03:35 going to be facing riot charges
03:38 and attacks on peace officers.
03:39 Because apparently there was
03:40 some kind of scuffle. I don't
03:42 know if it was a physical fight
03:43 or the protesters through
03:45 something at officers, but
03:46 they're going to be facing some
03:47 very serious charges. We'll
