Kole Taylor Duke's Mayo Bowl Media Day
Transcript
00:00 >> But yeah, I think that the city is the biggest difference.
00:03 I think there's a lot of fun stuff that comes with bowl games, and
00:07 a lot of fun activities, and a lot of focus towards winning the game.
00:10 But I think they're each separate, for sure.
00:13 >> I'm guessing, obviously, the trip to the NASCAR track is one thing.
00:17 Anything else stand out for you that's fun, that you really like?
00:20 >> No, I just like hanging out with the team.
00:22 It's a lot of time with the team, and it's a lot of bonding.
00:25 You do practice and all that, and you're focused when you're at practice.
00:28 But when you get time off, it's your time off, and we get to hang out with each other.
00:34 And that's been really fun, hanging out with the position group,
00:36 hanging out with an offense, and hanging out with the whole team.
00:39 >> Do you go anywhere, or is it just kinda, cuz Garrett mentioned,
00:44 hey, just sitting around, chopping it up with the guys is the thing he enjoys.
00:47 >> That's one of the biggest things.
00:49 Obviously, there's a lot of stuff within walking distance down here.
00:52 So we've gone to a couple places.
00:55 I know that some of the line, we went to Dave and Buster's yesterday, so
00:57 that was a good time.
00:58 But the bowl games put on a couple activities that we've been able to go to,
01:02 which has been fun as well.
01:03 >> Okay, what were those?
01:05 >> We went to a restaurant which had some mini games, like a little bowling,
01:09 a bunch of shuffleboard tables, some cornhole, all that.
01:12 It was called Player's Tailgate, which was really fun,
01:15 hanging out with the whole team there.
01:16 And then we did the NASCAR thing, which was really cool.
01:20 And then we actually went to the school, I think it's Christian High School.
01:26 >> Yeah. >> One of the Christian,
01:27 Charlotte Christian High School.
01:28 That's a really nice school, and that's where we've been practicing all week.
01:30 >> When you're preparing for a bowl game, is there a difference in the way that
01:37 you're watching the other team, just because, hey, there's some guys out there
01:42 that you know you aren't gonna be playing against?
01:44 >> Yeah, no, it's different, especially for the defense.
01:46 I mean, not having the same quarterback's really different.
01:49 Obviously, there's less on defense that are off and out.
01:52 But I mean, you try to find tapes of when they did get in,
01:57 when they have played, and kinda how they play.
01:59 But the biggest difference is that they're gonna be excited, they're gonna be hungry,
02:02 they're gonna be ready for everything that kinda comes their way.
02:05 They're excited for their shot, so kinda their opportunity, and they gotta take it.
02:08 So you can't just sit back because their first guy isn't playing.
02:12 These guys are just as good.
02:14 They've been waiting for their shot, and they're ready to shine.
02:18 >> Along that line, you all are obviously missing your most important players,
02:22 the anchor, the line, the blocking, the run game, so many different things.
02:27 Color protections, many adjustments that you all have to make to account for that?
02:34 >> Honestly, when Brandon Yates steps in, it's not much of a difference.
02:37 Obviously, Frischer's gonna be first, second, third rounder.
02:40 But I think Yates did a really good job.
02:44 He's great on the mental side of it.
02:45 He knows everything that's going on.
02:47 He talks down the line, which obviously in turn gets to me.
02:50 It's something that I need from him.
02:52 But he does a great job.
02:53 He does just as much film study as Frischer does, and
02:56 I'm sure Frischer's in there with him right now.
02:58 I'm kinda teaching him up and talking to him about what's going on.
03:01 But no, it's different.
03:03 It's not the first, second, third rounder or whatever.
03:06 Frischer's gonna be, that's playing, but Brandon Yates does a great job, and
03:10 the whole line helps him out with that.
