I Turned A Rolls Royce Into A Indy Racer | Ridiculous Rides

  • last year
AN ECCENTRIC car creator has built his very own Rolls Royce dragster. In this week's episode of Ridiculous Rides we meet Perti Plosila and Tony Johansen, the creator and owner of an insane drag car. Pretri built the car by starting with the body of a beautiful 1974 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow and gave it a modern steel chassis. He then added a beastly V8, a 200hp nitrous booster and of course a set of huge drag racing tyres. Not wanting to compromise on style, Petri also fitted custom leather seats in the front and back of the car, along with champagne and flute receptacles. We catch up with the car’s current owner Tony, as he takes Petri for a spin.

00:00 00;01;10;22 00;01;12;22 It's the most amazing car I have ever seen. The car is very noisy
00:07 and it's really big engine. It's like hell.
00:13 00;01;15;22 00;01;20;22 The Rolls Royce Silver Shadow. Elegant, sophisticated, beautiful.
00:27 But this is a Rolls like no other. This is my ultimate Rolls Royce dragster. Yes, you
00:33 heard right. And you've never seen a Rolls or a dragster for that matter quite like this.
00:40 Rolls Royce are normally a little bit boring cars. This is a little bit...
00:53 My Rolls Royce in three words, fast, beautiful and fun. When I saw this Rolls Royce it just
01:00 took me to my heart and it's the most amazing car I have ever seen.
01:05 And this machine also has a special place in Petri's heart.
01:10 This is my favorite build.
01:11 And that's a mighty big statement from a man whose previous creations include a supercharged
01:18 quad bike, a 200 kilometer per hour modified moped and let's not forget the combine harvester
01:25 dragster.
01:27 It takes one and a half year to build this Rolls Royce.
01:34 With help from his friend Rain, Petri started with a steel frame chassis, lined the interior
01:40 with carbon and leather and called on a local furniture company to help with the finish.
01:45 She don't know what's happening in here.
01:50 You see it looks quite much like an ordinary Shadow Rolls 74 but you see the engine and
01:56 you see the exhaust. Also when you come outside of the car you will see the drag wheels in
02:03 the back and you will see the car is much lower than an original one. You need to have
02:08 that on the racetrack to cut all the power and in the back of the car you see how wide
02:15 the wheels are.
02:17 And at the heart of this beast, if a supercharged Oldsmobile V8 isn't power enough, there's
02:23 always the option of nitro in the back for that extra kick.
02:26 Absolutely don't need but we can do.
02:31 In here you have all things you need, leather interior, everything for a nice ride and also
02:37 for a fun ride, champagne, crystal glasses and this is very luxury when you go to the
02:43 drag strip.
02:44 The car is very noisy and it's a really big engine. It's like hell.
02:50 We're going to start her up.
02:51 First we're going to remove the steering wheel. More easy when somebody takes the wheel.
02:58 It's very tight.
03:07 Isn't that just normal? We need more power.
03:32 You hear it I think. It's very loud and fun.
03:39 It's crazy.
03:46 While Tony has no plans to part with this super silver shadow, if your pockets are deep
03:50 enough he may just be persuaded.
03:53 This is a keeper but if somebody gives you enough money of course it is for sale.
04:00 It's a keeper.
04:07 It's a keeper.
