A mother and her two young children had a miraculous escape after they were accidentally pushed on railway tracks - under a moving train.

The brave mum protected her two children by shielding them with her body as the train passed just inches above them.

This incident happened at the Barh railway station in Bihar, northern India on December 23.

The woman, from Begusarai, and her children fell onto the tracks as a crowd surged on the platform as they prepared to travel to Delhi on the Vikramshila Express.

They all emerged remarkably unscathed and were taken to hospital as a precaution.
