00:00 Marion's feelings for Ted are very complicated and very beautiful, I think.
00:11 She loves him completely and wholeheartedly with every fibre of her being, and that's
00:18 what makes it so tragic that they can't be together.
00:21 It's natural, and she just longs for it.
00:26 She longs to be there every second of the day when she's not, and it's an escape
00:32 for her from the life with Trimmingham.
00:36 She knows that she's going to have to spend the rest of her life with him, and so she's
00:39 sort of taking the time when she can to have this freedom.
00:45 But ultimately in her heart of hearts, she knows she is going to end up with him.
00:49 And he is a sweet man, and he is a fine man, and he has a title in the house and all of
00:54 that, and she knows that it's her duty.
00:56 But I think she is angry at the fact that that's what's being asked of her.
01:03 Working with Jack has been very eye-opening because it wasn't until literally yesterday
01:14 that I sort of realised when he was being Leo and in a scene with Marion and doing his
01:20 kind of gorgeous doe eyes where he's just absolutely in love with her, that that's
01:26 just Leo and that Jack actually doesn't love Jo.
01:31 I was convinced, he'd convinced me for five and a half weeks that he loved me.
01:38 So that just kind of is a testament to how brilliant his acting is.
01:44 I was very impressed.
01:46 Marion feels Leo is, she's very curious about who he is, and I think seeing him as
01:58 someone who's not been brought up in this home and this environment, she almost wants
02:01 to protect him from it, I think.
02:04 And I think there's an element of him also being part of this other world that she wants
02:10 to escape to, rather than trying to bring Leo into her world that she is feeling that
02:18 claustrophobia from.
02:22 So I think that gives them a very interesting dynamic.
02:25 I feel every day that I am walking into a painting and I get to have that Mary Poppins
02:32 moment where I pop into the chalk and live in this world and play this incredibly complex
02:41 character that Adrian has created.
02:43 And if I'm doing that, so are Leslie and Stephen and Ben and Jack.
02:51 And we just, I think that as a culmination of elements is going to be magical.
