00:00 Hi I'm Sally Hodgson, I'm the Principal at Beacon View Primary Academy in Paulsgrove.
00:04 So tell me why we're at the school today.
00:06 So we are here for our second and what we hope will become an annual community Christmas lunch.
00:12 The idea is we bring together as many different members of the community as possible, so
00:16 families, elderly people, anyone who wants to join us and it's just about bringing everyone
00:21 together to celebrate Christmas with a meal. Tell me why you do this?
00:25 Why do we do it? We believe that community and our local community,
00:28 not just our school family but the wider family beyond our school doors,
00:32 is really important for our children. That saying, it takes a village,
00:36 and we really believe that. So we're working with multiple partners in the local area to
00:42 develop the work we do outside of the school doors to support our children and their families.
00:46 Tell me what the reaction's been like today?
00:48 I think everyone's had a really good time. We did this last year and people weren't quite sure what
00:53 to make of it, they weren't quite sure what the catch was. I think they've learned there isn't a
00:57 catch and what's been lovely today is to see people who've brought their friends this year,
01:01 so it's kind of extending its reach and I think everyone's so excited,
01:05 particularly when they found out we've got Santa's grotto this year.
