00:00 Alongside of that is the A5 road leading from the border at Auchnaclaidh
00:06 essentially up into Derry and that's a very personal road for me because I lost
00:10 my father on that road. He was one of dozens of people who were killed because
00:14 of the state of that road. So it's a very personal road for our family and not
00:19 just a professional interest I have in that road. That road is long overdue.
00:24 The Irish government gave commitments in terms of its development which are
00:28 greatly appreciated. Those commitments were rolled back on a little bit. It would
00:32 be great to see those commitments remade. That road would be critical to the
00:37 economic ambitions of people in the West and critical in terms of the safety for
00:42 people traveling in the West and it's important that both of those are
00:46 considered. What price do you put on a life? I know the pain and hurt that was
00:50 caused when my father was lost on that road and that has happened dozens and
00:54 dozens and dozens of times and continues to happen to this day. That's the real
00:59 cost. That's not the cost of the tarmac or the Central Reservation or whatever
01:04 else. It's the cost of people's lives that needs to be borne in mind.
