Sir Keir Starmer has warned that "Russia is a constant threat" and that we must be "mindful of that threat from Russia to Europe." The Labour leader was speaking during a visit to British troops deployed near the Russian border in Estonia. Starmer used the visit to stress Labour’s commitment to NATO and also pledged his party's support for Estonia, other NATO allies, and for Ukraine. Report by Kennedyl. 00:00 I'm here to say thank you to our troops here in Estonia who are based on the border pretty
00:07 much with Russia for the work they're doing keeping us safe, the work they're doing for
00:12 NATO, but also to reaffirm our unshakable commitment for NATO and our unshakable commitment
00:21 to Ukraine and to remind everybody that Russia is a constant threat, not just now but into
00:29 the future. So I'm here, this is my second time coming here, just to say thank you to
00:34 the troops. I think we have to be mindful of that threat from Russia to Europe to ourselves
00:41 in the UK and the interference that goes on. This is very much in focus here in Estonia.
00:47 This is a threat that is not just here, it's for many years to come and we need to be prepared,
00:53 we need to deter and that's why there's a real sense of purpose here at this base, particularly
01:01 since the conflict in Ukraine, but this is a real and constant threat from Russia, measured
01:07 in years and measured back home in the UK as well.
