00:00 How's it going everybody? Randall Sweet, Allstunners.com, here to talk more about OU's 2024 recruiting class.
00:06 I'm going to talk about Jeremiah Newcomb, one of the talented defensive back prospects in this class.
00:11 Now, Jeremiah Newcomb is a four-star recruit, rated one of the top 30 cornerbacks in the country, according to 24/7 Sports.
00:19 He's listed at 5'11", around 6'0" and around 175 or 180 pounds.
00:25 Now, he was Oklahoma's first commit in this 2024 class, way back in March, actually.
00:34 And he's got really good upside at the cornerback position. He's got really long arms, really, really good speed,
00:41 especially when he's running downfield with receivers, when he's trying to chase down ball carriers.
00:46 You can really see that speed on full display then.
00:49 I think that him getting in that strength and conditioning program with Oklahoma, like I said, with I feel like every one of these recruits in this year's sign-in class,
00:57 is going to be really big for him. As Oklahoma transitions into the SEC, they're going to need some defensive backs who are obviously a little bit heavier than 180 pounds.
01:07 And so, obviously, I don't think that'll be an issue for Newcomb, but he will need to get a little bit bigger.
01:12 And I think that Jerry Schmidt and that strength and conditioning staff are going to really help him out in that regard.
01:18 Now, again, I mentioned he's got really good length, really good speed. He's also got a history in his family of playing college football.
01:26 His brother's a defensive back at UCLA. His father, Jeremiah Newcomb's father, actually played quarterback at Nebraska,
01:32 got drafted in the first round – or not the first round, but got drafted in the 2001 NFL draft.
01:37 And so I think that Newcomb is a very, very good welcome addition in this OU 2024 defensive back group for J.B. Leyen Company.
